Title: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: Dry em on June 05, 2012, 05:42:07 PM I’m planning to play the below schedule of events during this year’s World Series
Date Location Event Game Buyin ($) 21/06/2012 Rio 39 PLO 10,000 22/06/2012 Caesers PLO 240 23/06/2012 Rio 43 NLH 1,500 26/06/2012 Rio 47 PLO/8 1,500 28/06/2012 Venetian PLO 600 30/06/2012 Rio 53 NLH 1,500 03/07/2012 Rio 58 PLO/8 3,000 05/07/2012 Rio 59b NLH 1,000 Total 19,340 I’m going to steal James’ auction format (with his permission) as I haven’t bought/sold any shares for a while so am a bit out of touch with it all + this seems a fun and fair way to do things I’m going to (try to) sell 50% in total I’ve included the $10k PLO which is my main reason for selling the package and also a bunch of other smaller events that look like they should represent good value and that should hopefully make the package as attractive as possible. Relevant details: Name: Karl Mahrenholz Hendon Mob: http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=42072 Relevant results: • 6th and 13th place finishes the 2 times I’ve played the £5k WSOPE PLO • 1st place in the Venetian PLO event + lots of other PLO tournament results (see THM) • 27th in last years PLO8 $1,500 WSOP and close to bubble day 2 finish in the $3k PLO8 after Mike Matusow conjured 2 outs from somewhere when I was set to scoop all in on the flop • 6 or so cashes in $1,500 type WSOP events, a 114th finish in the main event the year James Akenhead finalled and 14th in the WSOPE main event the 1st year that ran as well as some success in other hold’em events at the Bellagio and back in the UK (GUKPT etc) I have certainly reduced the amount of tournaments I’ve been playing in the last couple of years due to business ventures, relationships, house purchases etc but still feel confident of my ability to produce in events like this and have kept my game as up to date as possible with regular strategy discussions with some of the UK’s best that I am lucky to call close friends PLO wise I’m a very regular online 6 max player and have been a strong winner for the last 3 or so years. Hopefully messers Nong Cos and Small David can vouch for my abilities here as we chat regularly and play in the same games a bunch Whilst I’ve not been the biggest poster on here over the years since I’ve opened my account, hopefully enough of you will know/have met me at events. I like to think I have a very strong reputation within UK poker and you can rely on me not only to be best prepared for all events but that also you have no worries in terms of my handling of your money both ways (which is potentially a significant factor given the large sums that are being played for) I’ll be tweeting regular updates of all events so everyone will be able to following my progress well. Bids can be made via pm or on the thread. The auction will close at 23:59:59 on Tues 12th June, except for bids by pm which will close 2hrs earlier to give me a chance to post them to the thread and give everyone an even chance. Have C+Ped the rules from James’ previous auctions below. For reference 10% will cost $1,934 before any markup. Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: Dry em on June 05, 2012, 05:42:28 PM T+Cs:
I am selling 50% of my gross prize money in the above named package of events. Currency conversions will be based at the xe.com rate at the time the auction closes. Payments must be made by UK bank transfer or in person in GBP or USD$ cash Everyone who is interested in buying a piece should make a bid for a certain percentage with the maximum price they would be prepared to pay for that piece. e.g. pleno 5% @ 1.8 All the bids are arranged in descending order by price* and the top 50 percentiles** at 9pm on Thursday 26th Jan win the auction. Every winner pays the price of the lowest winning bid. *In the event of a tie, the bid made first chronologically will take precedence **This may involve one person receiving only part of the percentage that they bid for. You can make as many bids as you like, e.g. if you would buy 10% at 1.1 but only 5% at 1.2, you can make 2 bids, 5@1.1 and 5@1.2, if the strike price finishes 1.1 or below you will have 10%, between 1.1 and 1.2 you will get 5% and over 1.2 you won't buy any. Bids will be ranked by up to 2 decimal places, i.e. 1.333 will be considered the same as 1.33 and ranked chronologically Bids are binding and cannot be withdrawn, I am ending the auction in plenty of time to chase everyone up for payment before the event. To prevent any <0.5 shenanigans, the minimum price will be 1.0 In the event of some unforeseen dispute arising the referee's* decision will be final. *me Thanks to James Keys for allowing me to copy this format. If I haven’t covered anything or you have any questions please shout up Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: cambridgealex on June 05, 2012, 06:07:50 PM ;hattip;

Short Version: Busted 2 levels before the end of the day Longer Version: We started with 30k in chips, 10k of which was automatically in play and the other 20 in 2x rebuy chips. I stuck with my usual strategy of just playing with the initial 10k. I think the value of doubling up the extra 20k is much less than having extra lifelines if you get coolered/out drawn etc with your 1st bullet People on my table I recognised were Doc Sands, Sorel Mizzi and Ben Lamb (who was on my direct left). There were a couple of very weak players on the table, one quite weak player and a couple of online sorcerers who for the most part stayed completely motionless with an extremely confused/constipated expression for the entire day. My 1st significant pot played out when I called a raise with AAxx and Sorel squeezed allowing me to get enough in to repot and get headsup against his AKQx and hold all in on Qxx flop. I was on around 20k when the next big hand happened. One of the weaker players limped in late position and I limped behind with AAKQss. Ben Lamb was on the button so I was hopeful of him isolating. If I had done it myself I didn't think there would be much chance of anyone else reopening the betting as I'd been playing quite solidly thus far. Ben did isolate and when both blinds calls along with the original limper I was able to repot to 6,800. Ben was the only caller and we got all in on the KTx rainbow flop. He had JT75 and I held to get to 45k + my rebuys From here everything was very comfortable and I fancied my chances of a deep run. The next significant pot was at 250/500 when a young player opened from mid position and I called with KK73hh from the sb. Brian Rast who had now replaced Ben Lamb called in the BB. The flop came K98dd. I checked, Rast bet around 2,400, the other player called and I called. With so many draws out and with everyone being deepstacked I didn't think raising here was a good option. The turned paired the 8. I checked, Rast bet again around 6,200. The other player folded and I called. The river was a blank 3. I checked and Brian bet 30k with 7k behind. I had 47k. With him being such a good PLO player I didn't really like this bet. I know he will think I'm housed up (or at least an 8 ) when I call the turn and I didn't think he would be betting anything less than 99 this aggressively. If we had been deeper stacked I would have just called because I know he's not going to call much more with worse but with only 7k behind I put the extra in and he obliged with 88xx. He actually didn't snap the extra 7k and so for a few seconds I thought I was good, just to add to the pain. One of those painful hands where the turn card that you're praying for is the one that will actually cost you the most. Oh well. From their I grinded my short stack without many chances to get it in. I eventually found one when action was folded to Doc Sands on the button to my BB. His opening in this position so far had been 100% so when he raised again and the small blind called my AT76 with nut clubs looked more than enough to get my last 10bb in. He thought for a whlie and repotted all in (as I was hoping he would). The small blind was a weak tight player who had about 25bb. I was surprised when he decided he also wanted to call all in. Doc sands had QT75 against which I was in great shape, but the small blind had AQK9. I lost to both hands in any case. Always a bit gutting to go out of this one but on to the next one as they say. Happy with how I played which is what matters I guess. Am updating all events on twitter for those who are interested in more timely updates Thanks Karl Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: SuuPRlim on June 22, 2012, 07:16:31 PM sigggggh Karl ul man

Short version: chopped it for $3,261 Longer version: Had 5bb with 7 left and was offered an even chop. Couldn't really turn that down + it was gone 3am and was playing the $1,500 wsop in the morning. One guy wanted everyone to pay him $100 extra but I refused as when he was shorter earlier and someone suggested a non-even chop he said "if it was me I'd just chop evenly because I know what can happen in these..." Seemed to change his tune when he had most chips and in general acting a bit pathetic. I told him I wouldn't be paying him $100 which lead to amusing scenes as we played on for another orbit with other short stacks pleading at me not to be stupid for $100. He eventually changed his mind. Can't remember any hand details as I was blinded by the excitement of playing with Tikay for much of the night $1,500 wsop today, have made dinner break but very short. Time to get back Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: tikay on June 24, 2012, 04:55:34 AM Played the $240 PLO at Caeser's yday. Time to get back Quite right too. We shared Tables for 11 hours, during which time I played exactly 2 hands. Blindingly exciting, me. One of those was the very first hand of the Tourney, when I shrewdly got my whole stack in with a pair of 6's...... Seriously, it was an absolute pleasure to share tables with you, & I very much enjoyed the Tourney, & the evening. Shame I got my timing all wrong with 12 left, but it happens. Hope the $1,500 goes/went well. Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: Dry em on June 24, 2012, 08:43:13 PM Didn't make it through the day in the $1,500. AJ on the button seemed more than enough vs a cut off open for my 15bb. It felt even better after he asked for my stack to be counted down before deciding how to proceed and then less good when he made the brave call with AK
Couple of days off now before the next event Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: Dry em on June 30, 2012, 10:25:05 AM Apologies for lack of updates here. Am guessing most people who bought shares are following updates on twitter
$1,500 plo8 at the Rio saw me last until just before the dinner break. I used each 1,500 bullet separately and didn't manage to get any of them above starting stack. It wasn't for lack of trying though, AK82cc losing to JT86 on 884cc and AKJ2hh losing to KQQ9 on 982hh before AKT3 lost to QJ98 on KTx. These low cards seem overrated in this game... $600 PLO at Venetian was next. I'd happily pay double to enter this tournament which is always one I look forward too. Got off to a great start running my 15k up to 80k in the 1st few levels. One old guy got 25k in on the turn against me with KKT5 on 9832ss vs my A986ss which was generous. Lost a couple of small ones before getting involved in a big pot vs a young player who was new to the table. I raised KJT9ss at 600/1200 to 2,600 and he 3b to 8,800. We both had around 65k. I called and the flop came K98 all clubs. I checked and he bet half pot. With around 2x pot left in my stack I'm not sure I made the right play by getting it in here but none of the options seemed great. He had the nut flush and I missed to leave myself 1,600 By the end of the night this 1,600 looked like 30k and with blinds starting at 1,200/2,400 I was at least still in with a chance. 48 returned of which 36 would get paid (40k+ for 1st). I had around 10bb when we made the money which then became 30bb with 3 tables left. There were some bad players behind some big stacks and things were looking up. The next significant hand saw action folded to me in the sb with AKT9cc. I opened for 24k at 4/8 playing 180k and the BB who was tilted up after a few bad hands called (playing around 120k). Flop was Q76 with 1 club. I didn't think he was folding much on this flop and with only a gutshot and overs I checked and he checked behind. The turn was 5c which gave me the nfd. I bet the pot and he moved in for his extra 50k or so. His AT84hhh had made a straight and I didn't improve In my final hand I potted over a limp from a weak player with AT64ds committing my 8bb stack and lost when he decided to come along with his Q963ds Finished 24th for $1,597. Next event is tomorrow, the $1,500nl at the Rio Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: Dry em on July 01, 2012, 02:51:46 AM Got up to 11k after making a flush vs someone who had a set every hand.
Then got moved tables to the annual limping convention. Isolating a guy who limped 90% of hands didn't work out with A9hh when I flopped a 9 and turned a flush draw vs his J7. Other attempts to isolate also failed when people found hands behind and I had to fold. I eventually found KK and he limp reraised all in with AQo and I held to get back to 6k. I didn't say a word to the guy at any point but I don't think he liked me cramping his style. I opened to 425 utg+1 with QQ on his big blind and he was the only caller. He check raised my 525 to 1,575 on the flop of 235r and beat me in the pot for my 5,500 total. I was just trying to work out what A6o represented on that flop before I was sent spinning by one of Barry Greenstein's finest Shame because it would have been a fun table from there. 3k plo8 is next for me on tuesday Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: cambridgealex on July 01, 2012, 02:53:59 AM urgh ul karl

Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: TightEnd on July 05, 2012, 09:59:06 AM Johnicho Leads Final 31; Bronshtein, Baker & Saout Lurk
On Wednesday, the remaining 173 entrants of a 526-player field return to action in Event 58: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better. All had their sites firmly set on the gold bracelet and the $330,277 first-place prize, though by the end of the night only 31 would remain in contention, including chip leader Felicia Johnico, who bagged up 397,000. In the first six levels of the day, over 100 players hit the rail empty handed including Allen Kessler, Bruno Fitoussi, Huck Seed, Chip Jett, Scott Clements, Humberto Brenes, Mike Matusow, Martin Staszko and Ville Wahlbeck, just to name a few. In Level 13, which was about a dozen players shy of the money, a massive pot developed preflop between Stephen Su and David Bach, with a short-stacked Joe Gualtieri caught in between. The preflop action is unknown, but what is known is that Bach got his stack of around 70,000 all in and was snap-called by Su. Showdown Su: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds} Bach: {A-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Clubs} Gualtieri: {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{J-Clubs} The {Q-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Spades} flop kept Su in the lead with his pair of aces, but both his opponents held low draws. The {8-Hearts} turn was kind to Su as it kept him in the lead and paired the board, but it'd be the {9-Hearts} on the river that would avoid a low and allow him to scoop the approximately 160,000 pot. Both Gualitieri and Bach seemed a little stunned as they exited the tournament floor while Su was understandably all smiles as he was primed for a deep run into the money. Speaking of the money, some familiar names managed to work their way in including Matt Vengrin (53rd-$5,557), Matt Wood (52nd-$5,557), Dario Alioto (50th-$5,557), Erick Lindgren (49th-$5,557), Michael Moed (43rd-$6,778), Ray Henson (39th-$6,778) and Ryan Laplante (37th-$6,778). While many failed to survive the day, others thrived and will be returning to action on Day 3. They include Su, Randy Ohel, Yuval Bronshtein, Kyle Bowker, Josh Field, David “ODB” Baker, Bryan Devonshire, Mickey Appleman, Antony Lellouche, Antonie Saout, Binh Nguyen and John Shipley. Day 3 action is set to get underway at 2:00 PM PST on Thursday as the remaining 31 players will play down to a winner. Who will walk away with the bracelet and $330,277 first-place prize Karl Mahrenholz is through with a bowl, but a spin up bowl hopefully, 6xbb John Shipley is through with 98,500 last reported Both guaranteed $8,329 Graham Clarkson finished 40th for $6,700 http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-58-pot-limit-omaha-hi-low-split-8-or-better/ Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: Dry em on July 05, 2012, 10:02:13 AM Unfortunately John bust in the last level but me and my spin up bowl will be going back at 2pm

Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: Dry em on July 05, 2012, 10:46:19 PM Didn't work out - busted 30th
Shoved A983 with a suit and found 2 people behind with hands, which was annoying because I would have scooped if only the 1st guy calls Am playing the $1k now, our last event. Hopefully we can get another sweat Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: Dry em on July 07, 2012, 04:00:13 AM Unfortunately I busted the 1k on day 1, shoving AK over an open and losing to TT
This was the last event on my schedule. I cashed for $8,329 in the PLO8 which took total cashes to $13,187. 1% = $131.87 etc Thanks to all those who invested or bid - hope you feel like you got a sweat for your money. I know it's cliched but a little more run good at crucial times (especially in the 10k where I was cruising until I got coolered for the lot) and we could have turned a nice profit here. As it is at least we made some cash back and got into a few spots to give ourselves a good chance I sold my $$ at spot yesterday and so can repay everyone by UK bank xfer if they pm me their details thanks Karl Title: Re: Karl M WSOP Package Auction Post by: claypole on July 07, 2012, 11:43:06 AM Yes, great sweats Karl and really enjoyed the stake....we could have benn millionaires (nearly)
