In obvious days of doom everything in the world has become a lot more expensive, but something are just way too expensive these days. You can look at typical examples of these being Beer and Petrol, etc.

But one I look at now is fish! It was only a couple of years ago a full fish would cost you £1.50/£2, now in chip shops local to me they are well over £3, making Fish, Chips and Peas something around £5. Big sigh.

Other examples are chocolate, those 10p freddo's are now 20p (saw this today) and same for fudge, etc.

This is why Mcdonalds wins :)

I remember getting 20p to go to the sweet shop and being able to come back with loads.  And magazines that were 30-40p when I was a kid are £3-£4 now

Literature is so expensive now because nobody ever need buy it and therefore people rarely do. Anything you ever wanted to know about anything at all is on the internet.

I don't know about fish though. As in, not only chip shop fish, but fresh fish from markets and supermarkets alike.

We were actually discussing this yesterday and one of the things that came up was cinema tickets. In the last couple of years the price for a ticket has rocketed.

Car insurance as well; the more years I go without making a claim, the more money I seem to be spending.

I used to buy a shilling (5p) mix, which consisted of batter bits, a small piece of cod, chips and mushy peas.

Proper chips they were too, cooked in dripping, doused in salt and real, full strength, catch in your throat make you cough vinager, then wrapped in newspaper.

Fish from the chippy is close to £4 here.  As for Cinema tickets, it's been a long time since I went to the cinema and it's about £10 now.....fook that, won't bother.

Alot of folk are really choosy about what they choose to buy, unfortunately petrol and food is a necessity, so we pay, begrudgingly.

I think the cinema is one of the most outrageously priced things out there!

It was £11 pp to watch a 3D movie the other day. No wonder I pretty much go once a year.

On top of that a bottle of water was £2.75! Errrrr sorry? You mean that 75p bottle of water?

As for the other sundries, pretty much laughed and left them!

Being as fish & chips is our family business (obv being greek), I will say in our their fml our defence that hardly any profit is made from the fish and thats charging it at a whopping £3.90, the huge profits are made from the smaller things like fish cakes, sausages as well as the chips. But £5.20 for fish and chips does sound wrong; in london it gets closer to a tenner!

I am such a nit at the cinema... I refuse to pay the prices and take he kids Asda/tesco first for he popcorn drinks etc

Stickers for my Euro 2012 Panini album are ten bob a packet, pretty sure they were 10pennies when I were a slip of a lad growing up. Getting a few funny looks from peeps I work with when I get excited after a visit to the shop... Got, got, got, got, NEED!

I needed to use a Pay Phone today for the first time in like over a decade. Thought it would be 10p like in the good old days. GG 60p! wtf?

I remember getting 25p a day for school meal . Normal meal chips curry . Cake drink  . That's if you still had dinner money left after playing pitch and toss . Or the school bully's didn't hit you and take money

I got a £1 dinner money 2x bag of crisps and 10 b&h

can't remember how much i got, but it was enough for 1 pepperami and 1 double chocolate chip muffin (to be consumed at bus stop for breakfast) and 10 b&h

My daughter is 12 and gets 3 pound a day I'm sure I'm getting ripped off ( lol )

 I Never complain about the price of fish. Fisherman out in all weathers doing one of the most dangerous jobs working for peanuts. As most uk fish is exported the few of us that love it end up having to pay a premium.

Groceries now are insane. Bought a few bits and bobs today to make a ragu plus a bit of cheese, with some extra veg, and other groceseries. Barely filled two carrier bags, £27. I almost vomitted.
