Title: Vegas Trip - Staking Package SOLD OUT!
Post by: MLHMLH on June 06, 2012, 08:48:29 PM
Hello everyone

My name is Michelle Bennett and I am looking to sell up to 50% of my action (at 1.1) for a schedule of tournaments I will be playing during my forthcoming trip to Las Vegas.  I have listed below my planned schedule, although this obviously needs to be flexible to take into account 2 day tournaments etc.  My total budget for buy-ins is $4000 and I am selling at 1.1, so 10%=$440 (£290) and 5%=$220 (£145).

I will be playing a selection of $200-$400 MTTs at various locations including Venetian, Wynn, Rio & Caesars, as well as a couple of satellites for the Golden Nugget and Wynn series main events:

Mon 25th June - Caesars Palace Ladies event $240
Tues 26th June - Venetian Ladies event $400
Weds 27th June - Venetian Big Bounty $200
Thurs 28th June - Wynn Summer Classic $340
Fri 29th June - Golden Nugget Main Event satellite $125
Sat 30th June - Rio $235 (and possibly Rio $185)
Sun 1st July - day off!
Mon 2nd July - Wynn Summer Classic $340
Tues 3rd July - Wynn Main Event satellite $275
Weds 4th July - Venetian $400
Thurs 5th July - Rio $235 (and possibly Rio $185)
Fri 6th July - Venetian Big Bounty $200 (and possibly Venetian $200 at 7pm)
Sat 7th July - Rio $235

Total Buy Ins = $3795

The remainder of the $4000 budget will be used to play "filler tournaments".  For instance, if I get knocked out of a 12pm tournament at the Wynn or Venetian then I may play a tournament later on in the same day such as a Caesars 4pm or an Aria 7pm.  If I qualify for the Golden Nugget or Wynn main events via the satellites shown above then you will own the same % of me in the main events.

I will retain all proof of buy ins for inspection on my return (I will scan and email to all my backers) and I will post regular updates on this thread.  Any funds from the $4000 budget not spent will be returned (along with the mark up).

I went to Vegas for 10 days back in November and sold 40% of my action (via AWOP and Facebook and to family members) and bought into tournaments totalling just under $4000.  My total return from those buy ins was over $6500.  I chopped a Venetian $200 Big Bounty tournament on day 2 for over $4000 and won over $2000 in a $125 Aria (chopped 5 ways I think).  I can provide references from poker players who staked me during that trip if required, who can vouch for my honesty.

I won a Venetian deepstack in June 2011 with over 800 runners (a deal was done based on chip counts and I was a marginal chipleader) for $31k.

For those of you who don't know me I am primarily an MTT player and have had some success in the last couple of years including winning the DTD deepstack in May 2010 as well as the Venetian deepstack last year.  Please see Hendon Mob for my full profile - http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=98919.  I feel that I have a decent edge in the tournaments I have chosen above.  The majority of pros and competent players will be playing bracelet events at the Rio and other larger buy-in events, which from my experience makes these lower buy in "side" events very soft.

I am happy to accept $ or £ transfers on Pokerstars or £ by bank transfer.  Details will be sent by PM.  If you pay in $ then winnings will be returned to you in $.  If you pay in £, then I will pay you back in £ using the $/£ exchange rate applicable the day after I return (9th July).

If anyone has any questions please let me know and I will answer as best as I can.

Thanks
Michelle

I'm not a massive fan of the structure of the Ladies event (well mainly the starting stack!) and the tournaments I've chosen gave me a decent variety of tournaments for a total $4k buy in, which represents the right level of risk for me and delivers a good value package for my backers.

If you are interested in staking me in that specific event then I'm happy to discuss.  Not sure I want to sell 90% though and willing to include Claypole if he wants some of that as well!  Probably don't want to sell more than 70% of myself in the WSOP event.

It means me tweeking my schedule slightly (I'll switch the Wynn $340 the day before to another day) and I may need to play a Golden Nugget satellite earlier in the week, but I can look at that and post a revised schedule.

Thanks
Michelle

Obv Dave idea, I am gatecrashing - but if he's happy with 50% I'll take 20% Michelle if you want to play it - if he wants the 70% press on with Dave he's a good lad lol  - you are good value in that wish I'd thought of it first

It's upto you- structure might seem bad at first but it's fine in the middle stages. If you want to play il take 50% at 1.1 for sure. Think it over and let me know nearer time, no need to decide now but there's some obvious massive advantages to playing in the tournament

OK that sounds fine, let's go for that!  50% to Dubai and 20% to Claypole at 1.1 in the WSOP Ladies $1k on Fri 29th June.  Dubai, I'll PM you my stars/bank details.

Thanks

I'll post a revised schedule tomorrow.  If you've backed me in the other events, rest assured I'll fit everything in that I've promised to play, although may have to scrap my day off and there's zero chance of me seeing the pool again this year but hey I wouldn't want to frighten everyone anyway!

Fri 29th at 12noon! Nothing to stop you throwing on a dress and playing, but apparently it's bad etiquette and frowned upon!  Buy in is $1000 so your 20% is $220 please!!

Not sure if you misunderstood my post or I'm misunderstanding yours... I would like to buy shares in Dave if he is going to play the ladies event. Don't think they can stop men entering. Happy to buy 10pc @ 3.0

I've had another look at my schedule and have managed to make room to play the WSOP $1k Ladies event on Fri 29th June.  The WSOP Ladies event is not included in the main staking deal, however the tournaments listed below are.    I've had a jig around and have now included a $600 Venetian event on Sun 1st.  I have removed the original "(and possibly Rio $185 etc)" as these are effectively filler tournaments if I get knocked out of the main tournament of the day on the schedule below.  I will play filler tournaments at my discretion.  When I do play one it will be included in the main staking deal (subject to not exceeding the $4000 budget) and I will obviously update the post to confirm.

Tournament Schedule for Main Staking Deal
Mon 25th June - Caesars Palace Ladies event $240
Tues 26th June - Venetian Ladies event $400
Weds 27th June - Wynn Summer Classic $340
Thurs 28th June - Golden Nugget Main Event satellite $125
Sat 30th June - Rio $235
Sun 1st July - Venetian $600
Mon 2nd July - Wynn Summer Classic $340
Tues 3rd July - Wynn Main Event satellite $275
Weds 4th July - Venetian $400
Thurs 5th July - Rio $235
Fri 6th July - Venetian Big Bounty $200
Sat 7th July - Rio $235

Total Buy Ins = $3625 (leaving $375 available for filler tournaments)

The following have a share of me in the Main Staking Deal at 1.1:-

Mum - 5%
Kav - 10%
Gaz - 10%
Glenn - 5%
SirPerceval - 5% (paid)
Claypole - 5% (paid)
Tonytats - 5% (paid)
Skippy - 5% (paid)

I am also now playing the WSOP $1k Ladies event on Fri 29th June.  This is a 3 day event and if it interferes with Sat/Sun then I will simply play more tournaments in the 2nd week so that the main staking deal does not lose any volume.
The following have a share of me in the WSOP $1k event at 1.1:-

Dubai - 50%
Claypole - 20% (paid)

I hope this is ok with everyone.  Rest assured my trip is not a holiday, it's work and I am totally focused on playing as much as possible whilst I'm there.  I will definitely get the volume in.

Thanks
Michelle

In the interests of transparency and for anyone who might be interested, I'm updating this thread to confirm some changes to my Vegas poker schedule.  All the changes I've made have been approved by all my backers.

There are a few reasons for making the changes:

a) I won a WSOP experience package last week on Genting Poker which means I am now playing day 1B of Event 59 ($1,000 buy in) on Thurs 5th July.
b) I won the Bigger $8 on Pokerstars just over a week ago which means my bankroll has increased and therefore I am feeling more comfortable playing a lower number of tournaments overall, but some of the tournaments I am now playing have higher buy-ins (e.g. 3 x $600 Venetian Deepstacks)
c) The Wynn Summer Classic events are not getting the numbers predicted even though the structure is the same as the Venetian deepstack events.  The value therefore is at the Venetian (although the buy-ins are more expensive).
d) There is no time to go downtown and play the Golden Nugget satellite
e) There is no point playing the Wynn main event satellite because I cannot play the main event (it clashes with WSOP Event 59).

My new schedule is as follows:-

Tournament Schedule for Main Staking Deal (sold 50% in total)
Mon 25th June - Caesars Palace Ladies event $240
Tues 26th June - Venetian Ladies event $400
Weds 27th June - Venetian Deepstack $600
Thurs 28th June - Aria $125
Sat 30th June - Venetian Deepstack $600
Sun 1st July - Rio $235
Mon 2nd July - Venetian Deepstack $600
Tues 3rd July - Rio $235
Weds 4th July - Aria $125
Total Buy Ins = $3160 (an additional $340 is available for filler tournaments).

The following have a share of me in the above tournaments:
Mum - 5% (paid)
Kav - 10% (paid)
Gaz - 10% (paying in $ at airport)
Glenn - 5% (paid)
SirPerceval - 5% (paid)
Claypole - 5% (paid)
Tonytats - 5% (paid)
Skippy - 5% (paid)

I am also playing:

Fri 29th June - WSOP Ladies $1000 (backed by Dubai & Claypole 70% total - paid)
Thurs 5th July - WSOP event 59 $1000 ($250 of main package backers money is buying a total of 25% of me in this event).

I will be adding updates whenever possible to this thread and will also post on Facebook and possibly Twitter (@shellbennett) if you want to follow me.

Really looking forward to getting there now!  Hate hanging around and sorting stuff out the week before!

Thanks
Michelle

Due to jetlag (that's my excuse and I will stick to it!) I seem to have been posting my Vegas updates to one of my previous threads!

Will copy them to this thread shortly.

Arrived in Vegas Sunday afternoon. Flew with Virgin Atlantic from Manc and got a text from them at 6am informing us that the flight was delayed by 2.5 hours. Glad they let us know b4 we set off to the airport. Flight was ok but drinks service was terrible. They came round 3 times only during a 10 hr flight which is ridiculous and that was in Premium Economy!

Got to the Wynn and checked in. Got a golf course view which is nice! Room is ok but not as nice as The Palazzo imo. The room is interconnecting so we can hear everything from next door. Rang reception and they said virtually all their rooms are interconnecting! Lol really? Then this morning we are woken at 5am by a shaft of light coming in all the way down the left of the window! The curtain does not cover the window right to the end! So tilting! This stuff is not difficult. Maintenance arrived at 9am and fixed it with gaffer tape!

Anyway I'm currently in the Ladies event at Caesars. Structure is pretty terrible but so are most of the players. My table has an interesting mix players but so far I haven't found any spots. Currently just under ave stack.

Not the perfect start, busted Caesars in level 7 running AQs into QQ blind on blind with 14 bigs.
So jetlagged I can't even remember what we did after that yesterday, other than going for food at ? (lol no can't remember) with every intention of going to the Rio afterwards to rail Neil Channing but I believe I nodded off whilst eating so we headed back to our room instead!

Playing the Venetian deepstack now with lots of noisy women all chatting at the same time and getting progressively louder. Now I remember why I don't really like playing ladies comps. $400 with 230 runners so far plus late reg and re-entries.

Decided to change my schedule today due to my jetlag. Scrapped the $600 at the Venetian in favour of the $340 at the Wynn.

Still in the Wynn $340 at the dinner break. Got 31k, ave 41k. Down to 31 players from 92. 10 get paid. Lost a huge pot which would have put me
over 80k with AK vs JJ. A on flop, J on river. Nearly threw up. Onwards and upwards!

No good at the Aria. Finished 32nd from 100. Feel like I'm playing well but just can't find any spots.

Just finished level 4 of the WSOP Ladies event. Got 6450, ave is 5500. 936 started, 510 left. Standard is mixed. My table is pretty tough. Had Cyndi Violet to my right earlier (briefly).

don't care, they just made themselves look stupid. I've suggested they hold a men's only event at the same time as the ladies next year.

Ok so mixed feelings about Saturday. Lasted 40mins of day 2 in the Ladies WSOP. I'd been moved to a new table and watched the v aggressive girl sat 2 to my right 3 bet pre to take down the first 3 hands. Next hand I'm bb and she's obv button. She bets. I look down at JJ and3 bet. She 4 bets and I dwell shove. She snaps with AA. sigh. Finished 99th for $1735 so a small return for Dubai and Claypole who kindly took some of my action in this one.

Went for lovely meal at Postrio in Venetian and then played the $200 at 7pm. Finished 11th for $749. Played well and lost a 60/40 on the ft bubble when I shoved the button with 910s with 15bbs and got looked up by A6 who you'd have thought had just won a gold bracelet from the way he over-celebrated. I think he realised that he had knocked out his biggest threat?!

Just sat down at Venetian $600. Mixed table, but on the immediate left of the 2 best players at the table from what I've gathered so far.

2 cashes in a row Michelle, great stuff.

A little bit of the rub of the green and I am confident you will get a big score.

Decided to play the Wynn $340 on Monday instead of the Venetian $600.  2 reasons. A smaller field and a much weaker field. My main problem therefore was that no-one could fold anything so if yoy didn't get/hit cards there were small pickings. I doubled up in level 2 with QQ vs a guy who open shoved with AJ on a J55 flop. From that point it was downhill all the way. Flopped 2 pair against a guy who just couldn't fold his middle pin draw and got there on the river.  Lost a fair sized pot with 88 on a Q4Q63 board vs 99. Then got it all in with A4s and ran into AK.

Had a day off yesterday (tues) and went to Town Square on the Deuce bus. Great for shopping and has excellent happy hours (at least 4 hours in most cases) at Blue Martini, Double Helix and English's amongst others. If you're looking for bargains at Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister this is the place to go. All redline (sale) items had an additional 50% off and anything full price had 40% off. So for instance a dress that should have been $80 (£80 in uk) was $24.

Got a cab to the Venetian after having drinks and dinner at Blue Martini and sat at a $1/$2 game with $300. Came off after an hour with $460 and Ian was also $150 up so paid for our shopping!

Playing the Aria $125 right now. Need a smallish field today as I have WSOP event 59 tomorrow at 12 noon.

Back from Vegas, jet lagged and already fed up of the weather at home.  Had a great time in Vegas and very pleased with my 100% record in the WSOP events! (2 cashes out of 2), just a little disappointed I didn't get in the very big money in these tournaments.

Been working out everyone's returns today.  Will be PM'ing everyone shortly to get bank details so I can sort out transfers asap.  Thanks to those who have already provided their details and thanks again to everyone who staked me.

So in terms of returns, let's start with the easy one first, the WSOP Ladies $1k in which I won $1735 for my 99th place:-

Dubai 50% - $867.50 return
Claypole 20% - $347 return

All those involved in the main staking package also had a % in WSOP event 59 $1k in which I won $2703 for my 270th place:-

Mum       2.50%   $67.58
Kav       5.00%   $135.15
Gaz       10.00%   $270.30 (Gaz originally had 5% of me, but bought a further 5% when we were in Vegas)
Glenn         2.50%   $67.58
SirPerceval 2.50%   $67.58
Tonytats    2.50%   $67.58
Skippy       2.50%   $67.58
Claypole    2.50%   $67.58

In terms of the main staking package there are 2 elements to the calculation.  I didn't spend the full $4000 on buy ins so I need to refund the unused funds (including the 1.1 mark up).  I spent $2870 of the $4000 so need to refund $1130 x 1.1 mark up = $1243.  There is also a return of $749 to distribute which was my cash for 11th place in a Venetian $200 event.

                         %     Refund     Return     Total
Mum            5.00%   $62.15   $37.45   $99.60
Kav          10.00%   $124.30   $74.90   $199.20
Gaz          10.00%   $124.30   $74.90   $199.20
Glenn             5.00%   $62.15   $37.45   $99.60
SirPerceval     5.00%   $62.15   $37.45   $99.60
Tonytats         5.00%   $62.15   $37.45   $99.60
Skippy         5.00%   $62.15   $37.45   $99.60
Claypole         5.00%   $62.15   $37.45   $99.60

So total returns for everyone over all events played is as follows:-

        Grand Total
Mum        $167.18
Kav        $334.35
Gaz        $469.50
Glenn         $167.18
SirPerceval $167.18
Tonytats     $167.18
Skippy     $167.18
Claypole     $514.18
Dubai         $867.50

If anyone wants paying in cash in $ please let me know as I have brought quite a lot back that I don't need.  In terms of converting $ back to £ for those who want a bank transfer in £ I used 1.51724 to calculate the cost of your % in £ when you paid me.  This was the exchange rate I got for your £ when I went and bought $ to take with me.  In terms of converting it back, it looks like I will be able to sell the $ at around spot. Yesterday's spot was 1.55 but has fallen slightly today to 1.5483, so I will use this rate to convert back to £.

Thanks
Michelle
