Title: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: millidonk on June 08, 2012, 05:53:57 PM Instead of derailing all the punting threads and Tikay's tips threads maybe a thread to talk about the matches which are going on.
Ref is a joke. First not a yellow, second close but not a yellow imo, Red is just a compete joke. Also why bother with assistant refs if they are not gonna give handballs 2 foot away from them?? hope the refs dont dominate the headlines once again but they are starting well. Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: Longy on June 08, 2012, 07:25:10 PM That was a lot more entertaining than expected to be fair. The good thing about terrible refereeing is that if you don't have a vested interest it adds to the entertainment.

Not really sure how this couldn't happen, he had an abs mare and Pavlechenko rubs salt in his wound by coming on and getting an assist and a good goal, be very harsh if he doesn't get the nod next game. Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: MintTrav on June 09, 2012, 08:33:46 AM Keeping one step ahead of the opposition, the BBC site gave the world's first blow-by-blow commentary on a football training session yesterday. In case anyone didn't catch it, here is the first 20 minutes of the action from the England session. It was action all the way, but I've tried to pick out the main talking points:
0957: England coach Ray Lewington has put out all the cones at the training ground. But there are no players out yet. A bugler is out in the middle to greet them, when they do finally amble out. 0959: And here come the England team, in their black training tops, led out by captain Steven Gerrard. Each of the player has a mascot with them. All 22 are present, the only absentee being Jermain Defoe, who is on compassionate leave. 1001: The England players hold up a banner to the supporters in the training ground, in English and in Polish, which says: "Thank you for your warm welcome in Krakow." The players start a warm-up lap, as the stadium annnouncer reads out the players' names. The biggest cheer is for Wayne Rooney. 1004: BBC Sport's Phil McNulty on Twitter: "England's players respond to a very warm reception from the locals here at the Hutknik stadium. Trumpeter greets England players as they come out for training. Ashley Cole will take part in training. England's training session will not be too strenuous today. Mainly recovery after a hard session yesterday. 1007: John Terry is wearing trainers to protect his hamstring injury during the warm-up. 1011: Scott Parker, Glen Johnson, Joleon Lescott and James Milner leave the training pitch, and are expected to undergo gym work. John Terry and Ashley Cole are drinking water on the touchline. 1014: The crowd at the Hutnik training ground to watch England's training session is estimated at 3,000. 1016: All smiles from the England players, as they walk towards manager Roy Hodgson in the centre of the pitch. Hodgson then walks away with Gerrard to the touchline, the pair deep in conversation. The rest of the players start a warm-up kickabout. 1019: Ashley Cole, John Terry and captain Steven Gerrard have gone back inside. Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: Josedinho on June 10, 2012, 03:54:11 PM Thought Portugal looked good last night. Might follow the shredies in on them. Can see a Germany V Portugal final.
Fabregas up front today! Can't wait. Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: Tal on June 10, 2012, 04:16:25 PM Spain have answered the question of who they will play up front...no one. Midfield of xavi, busquets, Alonso, Silva, fibreglass and iniesta.
Torres must be sick! Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: Ricardov83 on June 10, 2012, 05:00:33 PM Spain putting a big emphasis on mobility and interchanging of positions.
I'm quite excited to see how it pans out. Barca occasionally looked devoid of ideas playing this system and that was with messi in their side so it'll be interesting. Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: Josedinho on June 10, 2012, 05:55:11 PM I've got a feeling groups A and D should just give up now.
Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: millidonk on June 10, 2012, 08:19:34 PM Atmosphere seems really good in this match. Enjoying it, end to end.
Crazy that all 10 Irish outfield players have an international goal unde their belt. Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: millidonk on June 12, 2012, 05:06:04 PM This could be double figures!!

Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: flushthemout on June 12, 2012, 08:58:06 PM Have watched Engerland home and away in the ninetys, this is the least attacking side ever, Hodsgon to tactical, Parker in my opinion is not the right choice, but cant think of anyone else t next two games wont be easy either, solid defence but you dont win tournaments unless u score, and Shrek wont do this on his own
Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: millidonk on June 12, 2012, 09:00:18 PM I'm only a little thick. Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: aaron1867 on June 13, 2012, 12:14:43 AM Not sure how people think the general quality of the games been so far?
I don't think there has been a match during these games that after the match I thought "wow, what a game" or even close to that. To add to this, I haven't really seen every match. The England match was in my view, the worst I have seen, because we looked so rubbish going foward! Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: Josedinho on June 13, 2012, 06:50:49 AM It's been a great tournament so far.
Spain V Italy was amazing. Ukraine V Sweden was entertaining as they both had a really good go. I really enjoyed Germany V Portugal despite there being only 1 goal. Russia were really good in their first game. I do agree about England. It was probably the least entertaining game so far. There's been one other which was a bit meh but the rest have been abs quality imo. Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: Josedinho on June 14, 2012, 08:18:28 PM Happens all the time but it really annoys me when the commentators tell me what a player/ref/coach is "saying" despite having no idea what they are actually saying.
"He's telling him, put the ball over the top and I'll make sure I get their first" Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: outragous76 on June 15, 2012, 05:20:52 PM Roy Hodgson has just been asked if he is concerned about rain for the England game. He replied

He replied "Wayne is still banned for 1 more game" ;carlocitrone; Either you're being brilliantly ironic and satirising the terrible jokes on this line or you've made an awful faux pas, as the joke doesn't work. I'm going with well done unless told otherwise! Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: aaron1867 on June 17, 2012, 07:57:35 PM Bloody hell, ITV have been dealt a plum draw with regard to the matches they have got for round 3.
They have Group B, which is the best group with regars to teams and quality and also groud D which is England's group! Nice life. Also, both games are on at 7.45, so why can't ITV have one and BBC the other?! Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: TightEnd on June 17, 2012, 08:00:09 PM All decided pre-comp
ITV had first choice of games for the first and third set of group games, BBC the second. Which is why the England games fall as they do. BBC has first and third choices to pick games for the 4 Quarters, so they get, they hope England's Quarter as first choice Both then show semis and final Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: horseplayer on June 17, 2012, 08:39:23 PM can now see entirely why the dutch dont play without two holding midfielders usually
have no pace at all in the middle of there side Title: Re: Euro 2012 Games chat Post by: aaron1867 on June 18, 2012, 10:22:48 PM Looks likely that we will have Spain now.
