It's definitely true that the overall standard of dealing is not quite befitting of the biggest series in the world, but I feel that is completely irrelevant to the following question:

Does anyone else feel that the dealers at the WSOP are treated as second class citizens, and with not enough respect?

I've maybe run bad in terms of experiences, but it's bothered me at least a couple of times. I've seen John Monette snap at dealers for a whole day, and whisper very obviously about them to other players at the table. And yesterday Alan Bari seemed very out of line, saying sarcastically "bing bing" at a dealer called Bing when she was half a second behind the action, and generally seeming obnoxious.

The general level of respect seems low towards the dealers, and possibly most of all from the WSOP floor staff, who talk down to the dealers.

There's alot to be proud of in British poker, but maybe one we don't realise is the almost complete respect the dealers get, and the way UK players often include them in the banter and fun of the occasion.

I agree, even if a dealer is bad, as long as they are trying there hardest they 100% deserve your respect, if they are rude themselves its a little different but they are people.

I've played with some big name players who have been frankly disgusting in their treatment of dealers, the worst by a long long way is Sammy Farha. He shouts, swears, throws his cards at them, blames them for not winning etc, so so bad.

I think it is a cultural thing.  Politeness is a very important aspect of British culture but Americans are more used to demanding things and getting what they ask for.  I see it all the time in restaurants and bars here too and am often mortified when people dont say please or thanks but it doesn't seem a major issue for the service providers a lot of the time.

Only ever been involved in two arguments at the table, both in Vegas and both over calling people out for being disrespectful/outright offensive to dealers. They do get a pretty tough time of it but I don't think its even related to how good a dealer they are. Even at Bellagio/Aria where I've found the standard to be very high they still get abuse.

In my experience as both a dealer and a floorman, the quality of a dealer is very rarely the reason for that individual being insulted or treated badly.

Most of the time it simply comes down to people being bad losers and taking it out on someone else. I could go further with that, but to be honest, that's pretty much it in a nutshell.

The problem is the dealers are very well paid in Vegas an I guess they just try an get as much money out of the game an take it. But in honesty the standard of dealing at the Rio especially the pot limit games are disgusting.

lol yeah people complaining about dealers are retarded. the dealers are exactly the same every single WSOP, do they expect some miraculous change every year? if it's such a big deal just don't show up instead of being a knob.

Very few in the US are used to dealing pot limit, so they don't normally keep a running total in their heads and have to keep counting the pot on each street. Outside these big events it can be hard to find a pot limit game running sometimes, so its no surprise really.

The respect (most) players have for dealers in this country is amazing tbh. Make the dealers job so much easier and the floors job easier because the dealers are happy.

English poker has advanced a long way from american poker IMO. The people that are rude in this country are old school (very few, not gonna name names) and they're the ones that came up in the American way. Probably not explained this amazing but I'm tired lol

I remember playing the main event and as always when I wanted to raise. I said to the dealer "I'd like to raise please". She said that she had dealt for the wsop for over a month and I was the first person to say please. Manners cost nothing

worst ive seen was eli elezra, shocked me considering he plays so much. I think people probably also don't realise the hours that the dealers are putting in over the series. A lot of them are being pushed hard and mistakes can happen. Always a bit saddening to see dealers getting berated though especially from people that should know better.

Could be interesting when I get to Vegas then, because I don't care who it is... if they're rude to the dealer on my table - they're going to GET IT!

Dealers need the players help, however an incompetent dealer who is 'messing around'/ being too friendly and messing up - you beware also!

There is one dealer @ DTD who is way too friendly with the players, even to the point where they started taking the piss out of a player who was seriously off his face on something other than drink.  It was tremendously unprofessional and I know it was this particular dealers first week when that happened, but almost every time I go to DTD I have to have a word with Ryan, Kev, Dan or the other DTD staff.  There is a line and its a tough one to walk.

you're 100% right pete i've seen some really in-experienced dealers in big plo games at the rio, thing is though, it isn't their fault at all, they've turned up for work and are trying their best in a super high pressure enviroment, the person at fault is 100% the floorman who put the guy on our table. Recently was on a PLO table at the rio where the guy could barely handle the cards he was so nervous, everyone was nice, told him to slow down, take his time and helped him - by the end of his 1/2 hour he was abso fine, so that was nice to see.

It's nerves, right? No different to anything that's new. If people are kind, considerate and patient then they'll get comfortable and settle.

Not saying it's right that you have to put up with it on a regular basis, but if it's a rarity then a little politeness goes a long way.

ur just dreaming.  I will literally have the written rules of the room in my hand and the room interpretation written infront of me before i accept any kind of decision i disagree with.  I would need to be paid to shutup. And it won't come cheap.

Yes mate. I will always remember her smile. She used a stick to walk with and would be easy to recognise again. Americans are funny people. You only have to say please and thank you and they assume you are posh.
