Title: Late Reg Ruling Post by: jjandellis on July 01, 2012, 09:22:37 AM OK, so the local donkament kicks off at 1930 hrs with late reg advertised until 2030 hrs (also allowed during the break until 2100 hrs). I arrive at 2010 hrs and join a list of 4 players that have late registered.
It gets to end of play @ 2030 hrs and only one player gets knocked out, leaving one seat to be taken by the four on the list. The TD tells the rest of us that we cannot play. We insist that he should open an extra table and balance accordingly. He digs his heels in and insists that we are late and that the tourney started with 30 players with an extra table opened up with later entrants (40 runners by then). The thing is, the tourney is mainly self dealt and there is no CAP on the tourney. It does not state anything about caps/restrictions on tourneys - and most tourneys I usually roll up and reg late. Most tourneys attract between 45 and 75 players at the venue, but today it is low (44 in effect) The TD merely does not want to open/balance tables. A big argument ensues between the 3 of us on the list and the TD - what should the TD's actions have been? Title: Re: Late Reg Ruling Post by: Cf on July 01, 2012, 11:42:32 AM Depends if he actually wants people to play in his card room or not.
IMO, unless there is actually a hard limit on how many you can seat, then everyone who turns up should get to play. Title: Re: Late Reg Ruling Post by: doubleup on July 03, 2012, 11:47:57 AM If it is actually late registration he should have opened the new table immediately. He actually appears to be needlessly following a procedure for alternates, in which case only one player can get a seat.
