Title: Keyboard Trouble Post by: Sark79 on January 14, 2006, 10:46:22 AM I am seeking some help from computer experts. Unfortunately I am terrible at using computers. I only really know enough to play poker online and copy off wikipedia for university essays ( only joking, it is actually the bbc). The problem is, when I type on my keyboard the keys I type become mixed up. For example, sometimes when I type a 5 it comes out as a 7. This problem happens intermitantly over the whole keyboard. I asked a guy in a leading high-street store for advice and his reply was " yea simple problem mate....easy to fix.....did you buy the laptop with us". As I bought it online, he wouldn't give me the information I needed. I threatend torture, but he seemed quite pleased about the idea. I quickly left the store. OK, my question ..is it something to do with my configuration as I have been told to change this?.. It is an annoying problem as when I type any numbers in I get the wrong number back after saving whatever it is I have written. I recently gave a review for a book I bought online which had taken weeks to arrive. Instead of giving a grade 2 it came out as a 9. Smug book sellers " ah, nice chap gave us a 9". Anyone have any suggestioons. I know you can change the US and UK keyboard settings, but don't know how to do this. Thanks.
Title: Re: Keyboard Trouble Post by: Graham C on January 14, 2006, 01:38:21 PM if its the language settings, go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Regional and Language options and check the locations in there to make sure they're not set to anything wierd. There's also languages in the Languages tab and then the Details bit.
If it's not that, I don't know I'm afraid. Title: Re: Keyboard Trouble Post by: ifm on January 14, 2006, 01:49:59 PM Have a look at this:-

I changed the language settings in control panel and it seems to be working ok now. It was set to English( United States) instead of the UK setting. When I got the laptop about 3 months ago I wasn't told I would have to change any settings. Maybey you are just expected to be good with computers. Sadly I am not. Anyway I appreciate your efforts.
