Hey everyone. This happened not too long ago against a player people know as 'Greek Andy'.

Format:

• £20 MTT with 1 re-entry.

Stack size and blinds information:

• We were in level 5 and the blinds were 500-1000 with a 100 ante
• I was sitting in CO with ~17000
• Andy was sitting in SB and had the second largest stack on the table (the largest was on my right).
  

Relevant player information:

• I haven't got much history with him but from what I know he's a decent cash player but doesn't do amazingly well in tournaments.
• He has 3bet me quite a few times but none have been more than 2.5x my initial open.

Action:

• Action folds round to me. Hero in CO looks down at Ad Ks and bets 2000. Action folds round to Andy in SB who asks how much I have remaining (the dealer announces ~15000). He elects to raise and covers my stack x2, committing him to the pot. BB folds. HERO?

Put all your chips in the middle quickly! 17bbs and AK, facing a 3b is pretty much a dream scenario.

I am assuming when you min raise you are hoping for him to repop you so you can get it in?

Try and determine your plan of action before you even make your first move.

You might want to do a little dance around the cardroom before you push your chips in.

If you're not the celebrating type though just say 'all in'.

You know he isnt passing, so why wouldnt you want to get all your chips in here?

Bad advice. I think dancing should be encouraged in this spot even for people who aren't the celebrating type. Considering villain is called Greek Andy you should stand up and begin dancing in the theme below. With any luck the rest of the table and the dealer will link arms and join in. Then you can all move around the table one way and then back the other way. This isn't disrespectful as it is traditional and cultural.

This is a call without celebration here if that is the Greek Andy. If not its still an easy call

Folding is a mistake

If by level 5 blinds are 500-1k then folding is an even bigger mistake

I think even I manage to find a shove here.

Obviously we all know that AK is an easy shove here. I'd guess that the maker of this thread knows that now too.

In the interests of being helpful to the OP what other hands are we raise/calling and what are we just jamming?

I can't think of any hands to raise/fold with given that oppo has 3 bet us quite a few times.

I know that I'm always calling, I was just prompting a few answers so that I could ask a few questions later on, which are mainly about the hands plan. When we look down at AK with ~17BBs is our main aim to get it all in no matter what the action before and after us is? Remember that there are antes as well.

In regards to my stack size, I'm very rarely raising with hands I can't 4bet/call a shove with from my position, even though sometimes a steal from there can be alright. I'm probably doing it with ~11% of hands here (which I think is actually pretty tight).

I'm guessing that all Greeks called Andrew automatically become known as Greek Andy in whichever cardroom they play/pub they drink in/job
But given that the blinds were 500/1k in level 5 it's quite likely this is Gala Teesside and this post gets a big +1

Didn't think dealer was able to report back your stack size until it was in the middle?

Thought you were on about that place, he most likely has a mid pair from what you say and what i remember from him myself. BTW he actually won the DTD £300 Deepstack about a year ago. Although i will not comment on his game.


 Personally would have raised bigger because in these tournaments there is so much peeling. Unless as previously mentioned you minned it to induce a 3b therefore you must be loving it here.
