Title: Religion>>>>>>poker
Post by: George2Loose on July 15, 2012, 01:48:33 AM
Its been reported that someone with a 600k stack has blinded out of the main. Due to being Jewish he won't wsop anything until 8pm Saturday.

Whilst I wouldn't knock anyone for their belief, why would u enter if you knew you couldn't play day 5?

Jarrett Nash Eliminated in 171st Place ($44,655)

Nash's yellow slip

At the beginning of Day 5 of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, Jarrett Nash was no where to be found. His chips were stacked for him, and his chip bag was draped over his chair. Slowly, he began to blind out, until he was down to his last 2,000 chips here in Level 22.

On his final hand, Tournament Director Bill Bruce tossed in his last two yellow T1,000 chips (two thirds of an ante), and mucked his hand.

"Jarrett Nash, 171st place," Bruce said into his walkie talkie.

There have been a few rumors circulating on Twitter, so we asked Seth Palansky, the vice president of corporate communications for Caesars Interactive Entertainment Inc., to explain the situation.

According to Palansky, Nash observes the sabbath, meaning that from sundown Friday night to sundown Saturday he was unable to play. Nash explained this to the WSOP staff last night, and left before the day was over. He fully understood the consequences of not playing until after the dinner break today, and left his Total Rewards card, knowing that he was going to bust.

Nash missed an $8,000 pay jump by nine eliminations, and will have to settle with $44,655.

I played a 10k Event at the Aviation a few years ago where the same thing happened.

it was day 2 on that occasion, at least he was smart enough to gamble late on day 1 and get a big stack on day 1, so when he came back he still had an averag stack.

Nash should have gone gambling crazy on day 4 and tried to get a top 5 stack.

Or not played?

Maybe so rich he didn't care.

Actually come to think of it.. know a guy who is a multi millionaire, played the main event a couple of years ago.. it was his second game of poker.

Had to be at a business meeting on day 2 so just played, had fun, then blinded off on day 2.

well, each to their own, whereas I'm in the camp that questions the intelligence behind his decisions as the old saying goes "Let the man play his money"

I hope he got laid that night at least.

That was a nice way to start a Sunday morning. Worst flaming I've seen on here in years. Religion threads, who'd have em (and Kinboshi hadn't even seen it yet)

I stood and argued with a Jehovah's witness At my door for about 45mins once. It left with him crying and walking away. Surprisingly he hasn't been back to continue the debate.

Religion has killed far too many people.

If he was taking his Judaism seriously, he shouldn't have been playing at all.

Turns out the story wasn't as reported:

Religion wasn't Judaism and wasn't based just on his wife's religion.

Meh religion..... everyone one entitled to believe in what they like but at least stick to it..don't make things up to justify directly contradicting your whole belief system..when you say to yourself   'as long as i don't do this on a certain day that makes it just fine ' you just come out looking like a bell end. The vein of hypocrisy runs deep through all religions.... i think the 'quiet room ' at stratford is actually a prayer room for all those good Muslims to take five minutes away from the wheel so they don't break their religious beliefs.

I always wondered what female suicide bombers get.. do they get the 70 virgins also ? Geeez imagine being a woman with 70 blokes who didn't know what they were doing..doesn't sound like heaven to me... sounds messy and tiring

NO NO NO DON'T SERIOUSLY DON'T

Have you seen what they would actually have to do if they REALLY stuck to their religions. There are people in the world who would really like to run the world according to the teaching of Christianity or some other wacky belief system.

i think we know there are people at both ends of the scale when it comes to religion, but in general don't come up with a half arsed excuse to justify doing something that clearly flys in the face of something you say you adhere to... much like in catholism..as long as your sorry mumble a bunch of cods its basically ok to do any sin you like as your still make it to the big game in the sky..that people believe even after all this is the true wonder..aint nowt like sheep...baaaaaa
