Title: Re: History of computer games Post by: WPIL on July 19, 2012, 11:01:28 PM No Elite (Spectrum) or Metal Gear Solid
Don't think I recognised any? Title: Re: History of computer games Post by: Killerkilsby on July 22, 2012, 09:20:44 AM Makes you wonder what will be around in 10/20/30 years time
Title: Re: History of computer games Post by: DaveShoelace on July 22, 2012, 09:56:03 AM Barely recognised any
I do remember as a kid playing altered beast on the mega drive and thinking 'it is impossible to improve video games beyond this point" Title: Re: History of computer games Post by: Royal Flush on July 22, 2012, 10:34:40 AM Barely recognised any I do remember as a kid playing altered beast on the mega drive and thinking 'it is impossible to improve video games beyond this point" Ha half life for me was too good to improve Title: Re: History of computer games Post by: Sheriff Fatman on July 22, 2012, 11:44:45 AM It definitely should have had Elite in there. I lost so many hours to that game.
Fond memories of Leisure Suit Larry and Sam & Max Hit The Road from watching that. Title: Re: History of computer games Post by: PizzicatoXev on July 24, 2012, 02:15:00 PM Dissappointed no Castle Quest...
Title: Re: History of computer games Post by: rex008 on July 24, 2012, 02:54:41 PM Ditto about Elite, although once I found how easy it was to edit the save file to change money and kill count I kind of fell out with it. All trust was gone :). I remember getting the tape version on the BBC B, then finding out the disc version had lots of stuff that wasn't in the tape version, so pestered my parents for a disc drive (at something redic like £200 for 100kB). Finally got one though!
X-Wing was my downfall at uni. Would have been my 2nd year 92/93, probably dropped a grade from redic late night sessions repeatedly trying to destroy the Star Destroyer instead of revising. That and 2 player Mortal Kombat (FINISH HIM!). Sam & Max though. Genius. Day of the Tentacle too. Similar twisted humour. Title: Re: History of computer games Post by: Gemini Kings on July 26, 2012, 03:16:59 PM I can remember one of the first video games, Space Invaders, on big machines in pubs the size of pinball machines....... What are pin ball machines, I hear everyone under 25 ask.
It was primitive stuff but at the time seemed so futureristic. Also Remember when computer memory was measured in Kilo Bytes. |
