Title: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: Rod Paradise on January 14, 2006, 08:42:42 PM I was back at work on Tuesday & industriously writing my thanks to the Blondeites who made the weekend so great. ;reallyamsorry; Unfortunately I managed to hurt my knee on Sunday night/Monday morning & it got more sore on Tuesday & by Wednesday I was trapped in my flat, 4 flights up & the lift out with a leg so sore I struggled to move at all... So 2 days later with 1 phoned in Chinese meal I decided it wasn't getting better & headed to casualty, the Doctor thought I'd cracked a bone or done a ligament, but apparently I've pulled most of the muscles around the knee - so I'm now at my parents, on crutches.
Anywhoo I'm appologising because my work thanking everyone is still at work & I'm scared I miss someone. But I'll try.... Tikay, Dik9, Bluewolf, Tightend, Heid and all other organisers, A BIG THANK YOU, I've tried organising things & I know you put loads of work in, I'm sure you got the appreciation & the satisfaction from it, but you still deserve a huge thanks. Right, now in no order.... Charmaine, :-* what a star, didn't get as much chance to talk with M3, but if he's got you as his better half, he must be a great guy. Tikay, watched your comments on 425 last night, a good summing up, although there's a pub in Glasgow now looking to ask you which one you think is the clever one ;) - great to meet you at last. Tighty, great quiz (we cheated on less than our winning margin) - Good work fella & I mean it you're on your own for the next one. Mrs Red - Fantastic lady - great company & so nice to talk to. BOO on accepting Snoopy's bid over mine (although the comment 'she'd kill you' was probably right). Red Dog - totally as I'd expect - Lovely bloke, only wish there hadn't been as many beautiful women at the do so I could have talked to him more (note - the amount of loveley women was great - don't disappear :D). Jammer & Snoopy, 2 good guys - the fact about the eldest being the best is a scientific fact though - get over it Snoops. Dewi, one of the Keltic cousins - does look like his avatar - sound bloke & hope he'll make the Glasgow Bash. Kezza, my ideal woman (beautiful & runs a pub), great company & good conversation, really nice to meet you. Ironsides, after arguments enough it was good to meet you & to be reassured you are a sound guy - we may disagree about stuff, but no falling out ( and thanks for breakfast) 8) Poppet - any woman who lets me name her breast is Ok with me (sorry Charmaine) - lovely to meet you love. booderham - COOL TATS & sound guy - nice to meet you too. Baron - one of my tormentors over Scottish football - but apart from rivalry, another good blondeite, you ever want to come watch real football, i'll sort you a ticket. Colchester Kev - My nemesis..... you ever want to come up & take your kids to see some Scottish counrtyside - I'll tell my folks you're good people, you are always welcome at mine or my familly's. Right - dinner's burning... so I'll post this & catch the rest later.... One last thing - in any gathering of a fair size you are always wary of finding the inevitable wanker... well, on the Blonde Bash - I don't think there was one... BTW I know - if in the first 30 minutes you haven't spotted the wanker - you are him.... :D Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: TightEnd on January 14, 2006, 08:47:34 PM I tell you what, Rod is a helluva nice bloke. He may be Scottish, he may know loads about everything and he never shuts up, but that apart, nice to meet you Rod
Get well soon Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: Rod Paradise on January 14, 2006, 08:50:21 PM I tell you what, Rod is a helluva nice bloke. He may be Scottish, he may know loads about everything and he never shuts up, but that apart, nice to meet you Rod Get well soon I thought I was quiet.... The Doc reckons it's a physiotherapy job... think I need to lose weight to stop the repeated strains... so I need a low carb lager that tastes as good... (Not that Michelob pish) Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: Dewi_cool on January 14, 2006, 08:56:23 PM Legless twice in one week, got to be a record, nice to meet you Rod, enjoyed your company, nice 1
Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: snoopy1239 on January 14, 2006, 09:04:46 PM Glad you had a good time, Rodney.
2 points though. If the eldest gets the best genes, then we're in trouble if my folks decide to have another. :o :o :o And what can we say about RED's daughter. First come, first serve I guess. Perhaps it was just a case of -- the best man won -- 8) Now all I have to do is get that bracelet. Tom's gonna get one hell of a surprise when I knock on their front door with a bit of jingle jangle hanging off my wrist. :D Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: charmaine on January 14, 2006, 09:19:12 PM Was great meeting you to Rod , you really are a luverly man *g *g
I hope your leg feels better soon :( Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: Robert HM on January 14, 2006, 09:25:26 PM Sorry to hear about your bad luck Rod. Get well soon.
It was pleasure to meet you at the Bash. Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: Rod Paradise on January 14, 2006, 10:12:34 PM Right - that's dinner finished (BTW my folks are on holiday so I'm not being spoiled.. I'm on my own ;reallyamsorry; )
Still I just made roast beef, yorkshires & roast tatties - so I'm not ill - just sore. Right - trying to carry on where I left off..... Snoppy - I pity the follow-up as well ;) Robert - didn't get as much chance to talk to you - as you were organising the heads-up, but nice to meet you sans jumper. Ginger - You & i are having a rum taste test at the Glasgow do... you can bring the Fish if you like, but we're hitting Blue Dog!! Royal Flush - nice card protector!! didn't get much time to chat after that awful out-draw :D - but good to put a face to the name. Heid (can't believe I left you this long) - will do my best to call you "hide", not "heed" in future, and will send you the list of brookmyre's soon :-*. Skippyskip - worried at how good you are at having the getaway car waiting, but GOOD WORK MATE!!! Londonpokergirl - good to meet you, got the card & am trying to arrange a couple of nights in London to come & play at your poker room. Indestructible - don't recollect too many posts from you on the board, but good to meet you (& to come away with my 3 best hands ever against your protege while you were advising her :D). (23 hit straight, 23 hit 4 2's, aa) the Protege (or Sarah London) - lovely to meet you sweetheart - nice to know some of the beautiful people are nice people too. Aces - Sorry - Scottish Foot In Mouth Syndrome.... was a bit overawed though & look forward to playing you again (and winning next time). Chubby - BOTTLER :D - Sorry not to be in cincins tonight - but will be there for the blonde bash 2 - and will slag you off for being from Yorkshire. Rob Yong - half the casino wanting to talk to him, but still has time to thank you for posting your opinion on his threads about Dusk Till Dawn... cool gent!! Mr F - Cheers for being drunker than me ;) - no cheers for that fishy call & outdraw in the S&G in the Mariot. Mrs Sheriff - hope you're no longer scared about playing live now you know how bad we all are... bet you beat him soon :D Foxy Minx - Speaks more & more scouse the drunker she gets - cheers for not smacking me for pointing that out :D Bluewolf - seemed to be really enjoying himself, and always had a cheeky comment to make. Wish I'd had more fun when posting under his login 0:-) - Hope you & some of your troops can make the BBII in Glasgo (and Dik9 as well). special mention for stac the dealer - I've not had kisses blown at me in ages (and have been single for too long) - so all the calls for the floor manager - I know some of them were aimed at me :D :-* :-* you made an old bloke very happy..... Anyone I've missed - I'll probably be adding on more as things filter through my drink-raddled brain.... or I'll reply when you complian 8) Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: Colchester Kev on January 14, 2006, 10:19:07 PM Was a pleasure to meet you finally Rod, you and the other jocks were good value entertainment wise. I am looking forward to getting up to the colonies soon ... just need to find out what jabs i need ;)
While you were chatting up mrs Red and Charmaine on the Sunday, I was chatting with Dave and Teacake about football, some of the stories those guys told me made me understand a lot about the emotion involved in scottish football ... and just how much it means to people up there. Great bunch of lads, and what really impressed me was that you took a stray like Tank into your party and even let him try to read one of the quiz questions :D See ya soon ... Get the pies in !!! Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: Rod Paradise on January 14, 2006, 10:21:56 PM Kev, there will be pies on the menu at the Glasgow do - even if I've to buy them myself!!!
Title: Re: My appologies (and thanks) Post by: Rod Paradise on January 14, 2006, 11:16:48 PM shocked at myself.....
Tank - great guy - put up with the Celtic contingent, watched the game & didn't rub it in :D - GREAT knowledge of Classical Music too. Big Laz - can't believe I ended up on another England invasion with the big guy - after doing the blackburn one a few years back with him. Sound big guy apart from "I'll be needing to go soon, so I'll not bother about a trophy" - then he leaves with a trophy and a bottle of champers :)up Teacake - one of my oldest poker buddies, and he left the carabby teacake at home on this trip... Great company along with... Dave - Complains about the mouthy players in Cincins - then becomes Tony G in the Broadway... great entertainment all trip & another original from my first poker school.
