Who am I:

My name is Alex Goulder, I am a poker professional from Nottingham. I split my time about evenly between playing LIVE and ONLINE. On average spending Sunday-Thursday playing MTTs online (stars.com, stars.fr and some euro sites) and playing live cash on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as playing live tournaments most weekends, and travelling on average once a month for a live tournament (this year have played EPT Campione, WPT National Marbella, IPT San Remo, LAPT Colombia, GSOP Salzburg). So I have a good amount of experience playing high buyin events with large pay jumps so won't be fazed by the money involved.

Online, I play between $10 and $215 on stars.com and up to 300euros on .fr. I played higher in this year and last years SCOOP, but I'm by no means experienced at this level online, so I don't feel I can justify any markup. I do think I'd be good value in these tournaments at spot however, and have picked a schedule that includes all the smaller NLHE tournaments, the bulk of which are $215s, with two $1ks and a few in between.

My sample size isn't great and I'm on a ~$12k downswing across all the sites I'm playing on at the moment, so stats aren't looking great atm, but it hasn't affected my play, in fact, I'm playing the best I've ever played at the moment, and am really enjoying the online grind, putting in a lot of volume and getting better all the time. Feel a score is just around the corner, came 107th in the sunday million yesterday, losing 99 vs AT ai on 344r for a top 5 stack.

Caveats: Looking ahead at the live poker schedule for this time, there's two events that may clash, UKIPT Newcastle (7th-10th) which I'm 90% sure I'm going to. The other is the English Poker Open (18-21st) which I'm 30% I'm going to. I'm leaving the schedule as it is, because it's easier in case I'm free and want to play etc, but just note, I'm probably not playing some of the events and reserve the right to decide what I think is best.

I'm not overly fussed about what you play Alex, I think you know better than anyone else what best suits your game.

What I DO like is spreading the investment over a bunch of Tourneys, it helps, obv, with the variance, & my most successful Staking Investments have come from such schedules.

Going Newcastle today for UKIPT as I said I probably would so going to miss a lot of the stuff booked in for this weekend.

Pleno busted me about 500 off the money :(

I jammed 17bbs from MP with A9ss which is semi-surprisingly a jam, even A7ss is according to the Moorman chart. Anyway Pads rejams AK and holds.

Pretty nightmare outcome - lost that J9 hand - 3bet is fine I think with the stack sizes, postflop is vul that he gets there with vlittle equity.

$1k went about as bad as it's possible to go. Folded more or less everyhand for the first 2 hours until I had 6k from 7.5k starting, then a 17bb stack raised utg, I 3bet JJ to get it in, he PEELED WITH THREES and flopped a set on 983. Marvellous. A few hands later guy shoves utg for 9bbs with 66, guy flats AQ, I jam about 35bbs with AK, and it comes Qhigh. Very unlucky if I do say so myself :(

edit: for the benefit of poker_truth, I've just reviewed the HH and it was actually more like 38bigs.

Not sure about my river call with the Jack flush, pretty annoying, thought he'd barrel turn with Aspades most of the time, and there's plenty he gets to the river with that he might turn into a bluff I thought, maybe I'm wrong.

lol not standard at all. felt he'd be really light in that specific spot cos he's a nutter and its hj vs co vs btn, ideal stack size for him to put a cold 4 in and also I have Q and J blockers.

Playing tonights WCOOP?

Hmm well it's started but I'm not really feeling it at the moment...

I was going to ask about this after it was all over but seeing as you've posted I'll ask now.

I said in OP that I'd likely be unavailable for quite a few events because of a busy live poker schedule and things just come up and I have other things in my life apart from poker. I said that I'm including all events because I'd like to have the option to play if I can and it's just easier than picking 5 events I'm definitely playing and then selling separately for ones I decide to play last minute or whatever.

Remember I didn't charge any markup for this package as well, and made everybody aware that I was going to miss events. I think you all knew the score.

I've missed more events than I'd planned / would like to but that's just how it goes. A big cash game crops up - I'm going to play that because I believe my hourly in that is several times larger than in WCOOP and I enjoy them a lot more. If I'm feeling like I need a break / day off I'm not going to play just because I've sold for it when I think I'd not play my best, as that's bad use of your money and mine.

If this attitude offends people or you think it's "taking the piss" then fair enough, I'll agree to disagree and I just won't sell packages like this again. I could easily just sell to friends privately and I know they wouldn't care if I missed every event.

I would prefer that you played them all, because most of my poker action these days is vicarious, via these sort of things, so I check the Thread daily to get my little "buzz", but I defo cannot & do not have any issues with you missing Events.

I also MUCH prefer "I'm not feeling it tonight, so will swerve it" than just playing whilst not up for it, & inevitably donking off.

Your integrity can not be questioned and you made the situation perfectly clear in op. The bit about selling to friends who don't care might be stretching it a bit tho. Everyone cares ;)

Im sorry if u thought I was attacking you/questioning your integrity, it wasn't ment like that at all. I knew you were gona miss some (not quite this many) and was fine with it. Obviously as an investor in a package such as this I want you to play as many as possible, but I respect that sometimes you won't want to play etc.

Alex you prob wont want my advice but I will offer it for balance anyway. Fwiw I wouldn't question your integrity either. The caveat reads like you might not play some events due to live poker clashes in specific named events. Yet I read you missed events due to waking up late, 5-aside football and if a big cash game kicks off. In op you bill yourself as a professional and you seem to work hard developing the hand playing skills and theory of that profession. For me, if you are looking to be the best professional you can be I would avoid missing comps for those reasons.

Mantis I only hate one person on here and it definatly is not you. I understand that you rub some people up the wrong way, just as I do but do you think anyone genuinely dislikes you? :)
