Title: RSQ - A revival
Post by: Cf on August 31, 2012, 02:56:13 PM
As predicted smashedagain's effort at the quiz killed it off in style. I miss the quiz so let's get it going again.

Standard reverse sheep rules:

1) Try and think of least popular/unique answers. Like on Pointless.
2) Score for each question is the number of people who gave that answer.
3) Lowest score wins.
4) Highest scoring answer is the sheep score. Incorrect answers score sheep score + 5.
5) No using google etc.
6) No asking for clarification on questions. Answer however you may interpret.
7) No calling 999 and asking what options they have available. blondepoker take no responsibility should anyone do this and something bad happens as a result of 999 being busy telling you off.

Simple!

PM me your answers by 5pm on Tuesday 4th Sept. The reveal will then take place at 8pm the same day.

The more people who play the better it is. Only takes 2 minutes to throw some answers together. And even the obvious answers don't always do too badly, as of course no-one is stupid enough to actually go for them...

For this quiz I am granting ONE pass. You score 0 for the question you pass. You may not pass the last 3 questions.

Questions:

1 - Name a GBR Gold Medalist at London 2012.
2 - Name a James Bond film which has a one word title.
3 - Name an oil used in cooking.
4 - Name a Welsh music artist who has/have released material within the last 10 years.
5 - Name a football ground used to host games in the football tournament at London 2012.
6 - Poker question. Give a nickname for pocket aces.
7 - A catchphrase used by Bruce Forsyth
8 - Name a European currency currently in use.
9 - Name a member of Monty Python.
10 - Name a post WWII Prime Minister.
11 - Name one of the top 10 selling (by volume) authors between 2000-2009.
12 - Name an emergency service that can be reached by calling 999.

Current Entrants (18):

rfgqqabc
Skippy
DMorgan
Mohican
JK
horseplayer
Newportlad
TightEnd
MintTrav
MPOWER
millidonk
smashedagain
Silo Graham
redsimon
taximan007

Obviously you can't pass the last three questions, as you only have one pass ::)

But seriously, don't see the point of limiting passes to certain questions.

The reasoning behind that rule is so that it's anyones game going into the last 3. I find it spoils it sometimes when someone (TightEnd usually) is leading going into the last question and you realise he hasn't used the pass yet so it's decided before the last question is even revealed.

That's not what the pass is for.  It's there because you have ten or so questions, and the pass is to enable someone to avoid a question they don't know a correct answer to, or one that they know only one or two answers for.

That is why the last 3 questions are easy/have obvious answers.  Eg I originally had the monty python question there but switched it out in case it was too niche. It probably wasn't but I figured pms were easier :)

What. I gave you an explanation and reasoning to the ambiguous ones and quite a few are stating the bleeding obv.
Just mark the first one wrong then I can spit my dummy out and flounce off :)

Yeah cooking oil is fine also?

yeah herbie is correct he should be the judge on these matters the man is a god on this forum remember he was in the advent calendar

The question could also be read as "name a cooking oil". It's clearly too vague.

correct so i ace the mother f**ker of a question

Or I could just whale you with everyone elses answers giving 23 points.
i'll settle for that

Done :)

no everyone gets 23 points if they are all whales

Objection!

Pocket Aces is in itself a nickname. "Pocket" is a slang term for your hole cards. You won't find Pocket in any rules of poker, therefore the whole name "Pocket Aces" (or pocket anything else) is a nickname.

So going into the final question we have:

kinboshi   23
taximan007   24
Silo Graham   25
JK   26
Mohican   27
Newportlad   30
MintTrav   30
Laxie   31

rfgqqabc   34
smashedagain   36
DMorgan   38
Ironside   38
redsimon   42
Skippy   47
millidonk   49

As always the final question is un-objectionable (as in everyone has correct answers) so the final scores will be going up along with it. There is now 5 minutes to deal with any remaining objections.

There may be more than one source, but the link you've chosen definitely isn't one of them. They're not even claiming to list the top ten authors.

My second choice for an answer was God- by the time you've got through all the Korans and the Bibles, I'm bound to have been in there.

Yeah that's a good point mate.

I also think far too many people are obv googling stuff. Coming on here and quoting wiki, saying there are loads of lists and quoting a currency from a site yet to be updated are all clear indicators.

Lets get the quiz policed right. You won't find some of my answers on the Internet that's for sure.

CF did stipulate by volume so surely there can be no doubt about this question. It's simply a matter of numbers and the number of books sold by your author was not as big the number of books sold but the top ten.  That site seems to be someone's opinion of best sellers and obv twilight was only a best seller in poor months of book sales. And if it was not for pre pubesant girls and old pervs like you the books would not have sold any copies at all.

Edit: Tbf I could have gone for Twilight too because that was the first site that came up when I googled best sellers between 2000 and 2009 :)

Lol..., I was trying to insinuate Tighty had googled.  I just googled it just now and the site tighty referred to was first up.

Pretty sure  from my pm to CF that it's obv I never googled

Wp for getting this going again.

1. Lord Coe....... Does not stipulate competing. Hope you mark this wrong then I can spit my dummy out on the first question and switch off and watch tv :)

2. Skyfall....... Bit anal and gambling on out thinking the anal thinkers that this is too obvious and everyone will go for it so will give it a wide berth

3.Tinf...... Once again a long shot but just might get it through.

4. Aled Jones..... Could be a sheep here :(

5. Wembley...... Once again using your too obv to be picked rule so you will get the blame

6. Pass......So wanted to google this as there must be loads but can only think of 3 answers

7. Nothing for two in a bed, not in this game.... Fml can't even think of the card game it was from lol

8. Franc..... Swiss I hope

9. Graham chapman ...... Hopefully the least known of the 5 and you are just taking these 5 as correct and not including all cast members of all the films.

10. John Howard..... Australia

11.  Dan Brown..... Hope it gets less than JK Rowling as I only knew this two... Thinking about it was Da Vinci Code in the top ten.

12.  Police.... Once again choose the obvious card. Wanted to put mountain rescue

Don't you need a tie break for me tighty and kinboshi?

7.

Only just seen this, can't believe Julia Gillard wasn't an ace ffs!

Well played JK :)up

OK, will do a RSQ, and it'll be up before the end of the week and the reveal will be an evening next week.
Yeah this was the highlight of my night. We both had the same idea and yours was not an ace. 2nd was tighty actually scoring a 4. Anyone can mark him wrong but for him to score a 4 now that's pretty rare :)

I nearly went for Howard as my answer as well!  That would have been worse than having the same answer as someone else...having the same answer as Herbie!!  If that'd happened the next thing you'd see is me wearing dodgy hoodies, cleaning windows, and spending my waking hours causing trouble on blonde and browsing THM database and looking longingly at travel brochures to Morocco... ;)
