Title: Soccer Manager New Game
Post by: scotty2hatty on September 02, 2012, 03:55:13 PM
http://www.soccermanager.com/

SoccerManager.com is free of charge. You manage your team using your web browser. Matches are played at least twice a week.

You can log on at any time to check the status of your squad, check results and fixtures, make player transfers or just have a chat with the rapidly expanding SoccerManager.com community!

If you've ever played FM/CM you'll love this.

We played this before but think everyone took it too serious and thought the game would last forever by signing all the top young talents. What I propose is I set up a custom European/World Super League with the 20 best teams in
Europe/World with the knowledge it will likely last a few seasons meaning we wouldn't need to spend hours signing youngsters. Here is the original thread (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=34212.0).

Sign up in thread, and at same time state which club you would like to manage. If players want the same team we will do a draw.

I appreciate this might not get enough interest but, if it does, as soon as we get a good amount of players interested then I'll set the game up.

That's probably the best idea. I'll draw up the 20 best teams and randomly assign.

Everyone who is interested please sign up via the link in the opening post and await further details from myself (these will come when we fill up). Leagues of 20 so would be good to get a league filled.

Have signed up but not selected country...

The last thread was full of transfer negotiations and crying/celebrating after the games.

Minimal commitment - Tighty has 25 teams, you will have one, so you can tell from that it isn't too bad.

Plus you will be on a relatively even playing field this time around - unlike Leeds verus Man U, Barca etc every game.

I've just logged on to my account, I didn't realise it was back in 2008 I created it and I even won a couple of trophies!    If anyone wants to invite me to a league whilst this one is being created I'd quite like to join I think.  Do I have to make a team first?

Might be good to include Newcastle in the top league too - maybe at the expense of Valencia.

I guess it doesn't matter too much but someone give me their opinion before I set the game up.

Title: Re: Soccer Manager New Game
Post by: scotty2hatty on September 03, 2012, 11:56:22 AM
Last time we played we had one large division of 20. Which meant 38 games, at two a week that is 19 weeks - this is perhaps a bit of a drag.

I propose divisions of 10 meaning the seasons will go much quicker and won't become stale.

Full setup this evening so you guys can discuss in the meantime - I am about to offline until about 6pm.

Should be a good bit of banter as between us we will have most of the top players in the World so transfers might take place solely between us and not the computer.

I've set the game up. It looks like the game is created by the gamemasters over night so we will be good to go first thing in the morning.

A few things:

Give this a quick once over at some point - http://www.soccermanager.com/help.php

We have 3 divisions of 10 - the top two divisions are all managed by us, the bottom division will be AI and can also be picked up by late blondes.

The game is called European Super Blonde League.

Do not bid for any players from the teams in the top two divisions until all managers have taken over their clubs.

Instructions on how to take over your team will be given tomorrow - I think I need to offer each team to the respective person.

Everyone has a bunch of friendlies preset, every day from tomorrow until the first game of the season on the 9th. This will allow you to become more familiar with the game.

The SMFA allow for friendly games to be arranged between club teams within the same Game World.

In friendly games:

    Suspended players can play.
    Injured players can play.
    Players conditions are not reduced.
    Players cannot get injured.
Yellow and red cards are not recorded.

Well, here's the thing. Transfers go through overnight so if I accept some people just now they will have an unfair advantage. I don't know if I can trust everyone to not bid for anyone tonight. Might make sense for me to accept everyone in the AM.

Sorry for the confusion - you've got it spot on. For example, you know Real Madrid are going to be managed by a blonde member so would be rough if you pinch Ronaldo when he hasn't even joined the game yet.

So, transfer status and then select transfer list, then put a value in and hit confirm transfer status? Worked for me. And Man U have someone listed too.

TightEnd will know the answer.

In the meantime, if you're buying players from a non-managed club you can offer those players as part exchange anyway and the clubs will accept.

Scotty (or anyone else) what's the policy on bidding for players in unmanaged teams in Div 3 that may at somepoint get taken by a Blonde but aren't currently e.g Lille

Is it fair game?

Fair game as is

After a while though as the managed clubs are left as half eaten carcasses by the managed club vultures, they will be unattractive as an option to manage. The AI leaves all unmanaged clubs with 21 players minimum but there's not filter for quality/rating.

So the admin setting to make it impossible to buy from league unmanaged clubs is usually used IF it is expected more people will be attracted to fill the elague up

Reasonable debuts for my 2 new ones up front in the 2nd half.

Question, may sound silly, but is the balance that you see also you transfer budget?  Or can you go over this, on the assumption that the club will gain revenues throughout the season?

hope so, as it would make more sense?

Don't think you can go into the negative but I've made it so money should be easy enough to raise.

Since we have the majority of the top players between us transfers might be rare to begin with. Think when certain players don't play well during season we'll see more deals.

Some managers go for youth.  I am very much in the 'experience wins you games' camp.

Should anyone have seasoned veterans they are looking to offload, preferably 35 years of age and above, then hit me up on the game.

I am Inter.  They are very old anyway.  And we are going to play a slow, methodical, intelligent style.  Anyway, I've given too much away.  Ship me the oldies please.

I got priced out of the Neymar deal cos I couldn't reall afford to swap two players plus cash. Was the first player I checked on the game though. Didn't even think of Damaio though, nice touch.

Farfan was good against me, you're right, so Neymar better click straight away.

Run another game alongside this one with the 20 premier league teams? Might mean more transfer activity.

Can someone who just joined the game tell me how many clubs it states you can manage? Think there might be a clause where you need to play a few weeks before you can manage more than one club. Could be wrong.

Think Assou-E and Dawson would be snapped up if we were the 20 PL sides.

Horner Warns off suitors

Posted by: Brent Horner (FC Porto) Thursday, September 6, 2012
We managed to catch up with the esteemed young Porto manager Brent Horner earlier today. He had the following to say "I've had numerous enquiries about centre midfielder Joao Mountihno. I would like to tell you all categorically that no amount of money could take Joao away from this club. We are shooting for Division 1 Glory this year and selling our captain, our playmaker and our everything would not be in line with the ambitions we hope to acheieve. I am not building a team here in Porto, I am building an empire. And Joao is my leader."

Haven't bought anyone. Not played this before so not really any idea of who is good or not.

Is the only stat players have the rating? e.g. on CM/FM players had about 30 different stats. Do you not end up with situations where two 90 rated players are essentially identical?

Yeah, it's just the sole rating. Just like FM/CM, it's simply a database management thing. Tactics are probably most important, counteracting what the other team are likely to do.

norrr, played them again tonight. Lost 3-0 at home! sigh.

Division 2 looks ridic tough btw! Real Madrid, Chelsea, Man City, PSG, Milan, Valencia, Munich, Dortmund, Chelsea, Spurs! Going to be tough to get out of this division.

Division 1 has teams like, Napoli, Porto, Atletico, Inter, Benfica!

Arsenal slumped to a 2 - 1 defeat to Napoli in their Friendly fixture.

Cazorla was on the scoresheet for his side.

Slumped???   bit harsh, we had neearly 50% possesion and 18 shots at goal, 14 on target!

W4-2, L 4-1, W 2-1, L 2-1

P4, W2, L2, F8, A9.  entertaining at least

A good week after the debacle that was last week!

Arsenal beating Napoli 1-0. Ramsey s/off in 90min tho and he i on fire at present. Top still which is fun!

Spurs in the Prew champs a 1-1 draw away at barc which I was delighted about. Mid week also saw my asst manager draw 3-3 with Madrid and win on pens to get to the 4th rnd of the cup.

A good week all round.

(Anyone know a quicker way to get these points, I have 1800odd and need 15000 I think to become full manager and stop my pesky asst manager from doing these cup games. And I'd like the opp to be intl manager too!?)

Quickest way is to buy coins but I think it's only 3000 now for a monthly membership if you fancy giving it a whirl before you buy.   I'd quite like membership too, just to accept the international jobs that I keep getting offered.

The first team I signed up for was Arsenal in a random league.  They had over £300m in cash which was attractive so I took charge.  What I didn't think of was that all my decent players had been fleeced and as it's a big league, all  the decent players in the world are playing for other teams and I can't get anyone to sell me a star player.  Tempted to quit them and join a new league with Arsenal.

they had 10 men mind, but still took a 89min winner.  had a goal disallowed, and 35 shots overall!

Anyone know if NMF actually matters?  Played both Liverpool and Juve who had both several players NMF like below 25%, and yet lost 3-1 to liverpool, and struggled to get past Juve.

I assume it miust count for something, otherwise why bother stating it?

If any of you want me to send some tokens so you can be a gold member for a month let me know. Once you have accrued enough or buy some more you can send me mine back.

sorry only just noticed this... Thanks, but I'll rack them up and see where I go from there.

Arsenal win away at Man Utd 2-0, solid enough with over 30 shots again.

4pts clear, 3 to play.  Going to be exciting run in.  Erm mind games, Barc are obv favourites....etc!

Spurs, up and down, but a nice win this week.  Pretty comfy 2-1 vs Liile.  Squad needs sorting though...lots to do over the up and coming weeks.

2 games to go, 2 pts in it

Prew Champ - spurs, not a good game, and deserved loss.  Just can't get my team or squad settled...we continue

To the wire in Division 1

Arsenal are in Pole Position by 2pts with slightly better GD so all to play for, all to lose!

(congrats to Tightend for securing the only title so far)

PREW - A well deserve win for Spurs even with 10men for 3/4 of the game

Its a non-reality strategy, online something to do bit of fiun I'm fully aware, but in the same manner I loved it when I'd win a game etc playing the Spectrum 128+ Football Director or "Play by Mail Football games..

wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Arsenal won the League with a 5-0 win over Liverpool securing the 2 points needed to secure the title. Good job too as Barc scrapped a 7-1 win to push it to the wire.

PREW Champs - Spurs got stuffed 5-2...I can't be in 2 places at once! lol

Beat relegation on the last day by winning 4-1 and Real Madrid lost to bottom place Spuds.

What happens now? New League?

Assume so, by the looks of the calender a break for 10days, as its all greyed out and stated " in close season"  However my first season so just a guess.

Warren Fenwick was unable to prevent a Arsenal defeat to Manchester City.

Arsenal slumped to a 3 - 2 defeat against Manchester City in their Division 1 fixture.

Defoe scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance.

Gameiro was also on the scoresheet for his side.

P2, W0, D1, L1.  Not the best start to retaining the title!  In both games last 5minutes goals cost me points.

Some stern words required.

combined unbeaten in 5, Arsenal 2 wins on trot now, and spurs (in prew champs) unbeaten in 4, and 3 wins on trot.

Stern words obviously worked.

Barca continue to disappoint.

Incredible run for Napoli in the Prew though, 15 games unbeaten including 13 wins.  3 games remain, 1 win guarantees promotion, 2 the title.

congrats to Nathan prew in winner the PREW Champs with Real Madrid.

My Tottenham finished 10th after a flurry of 5 wins in the last 6 games.

In Scotts game - My Arsenal are now playing much better and unbeaten in the last 5 games. Currently 7th but only 4pts behind leaders City.  It is very tight league.

After their result against Tamworth, Stockport County are now unbeaten in 30 games setting a new club record for most games unbeaten in a row.

mal gorse has guided Barcelona to a SMFA Champions Cup Final win against Queens Park Rangers!! Barcelona beat Queens Park Rangers 4 - 1 in the final to lift the trophy.

Messi scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance.

Fàbregas and Iniesta were also amongst the goalscorers.
