Title: Part-ouch-e Post by: TightEnd on September 05, 2012, 06:16:11 PM The Partouche Poker Tour (PPT), self-stylized “biggest poker tournament in Europe,” has informed players today that the prize pool for its Main Event is only €4.3m, not the €5m originally guaranteed.
The €8500 buy-in tournament, a culmination of many satellites and super satellites held across casinos in France, was originally sold as having a €5m guaranteed prize pool; that is, Partouche will ensure at least €5m is awarded in prizes regardless of the number of entries. However, players in Cannes today for the fifth annual poker series have reported that the total prize pool is only €4.3m, not the €5m promised. 580 players entered, the same number as the previous year. more at http://pokerfuse.com/news/poker-room-news/partouche-poker-tour-reneges-on-5m-guarantee/ Title: Re: Part-ouch-e Post by: rfgqqabc on September 05, 2012, 06:19:05 PM Scandal after scandal. The news comes the day after the controversy over the €5m-guaranteed-prize-pool-that-wasn’t.

Whilst the official rules show clearly that the only guaranteed sum was that of 500 000€ to the overall winner, I do acknowledge that there may have been some misunderstanding caused by the way this event was promoted in the media and the confusion that since followed. I have therefore asked the Partouche group to bear the consequences and make up the difference by adding 736 880 Euros to the Prize Pool....! I have never turned my back to my troops, even through the toughest of times when storms have raged around us. I refuse therefore to accept the resignation that was submitted to me this morning, how true the expression "anyone who doesn't make mistakes isn't trying hard enough" therefore even those at the very tp are not immune to error from time to time. That being said, I cannot now go back on my word and therefore my decision stands and the PPT will be no more... Special recognition goes to all of our teams who habe worked so tirelessly to put together one of the finest poker tournaments ever... I would also like to express my sincere thanks to all of you, amateur and professional alike who have sent me messages of support at this time. Long live Poker and all those who are passionate about it... Patrick Partouche |
