Title: Freezeout or Shootout Post by: ruthless1 on January 16, 2006, 09:41:30 AM It might sound as a silly question, but is there a difference between Freezeout or Shootout?
Title: Re: Freezeout or Shootout Post by: Poppet7 on January 16, 2006, 09:46:00 AM I wouldn't know, never even heard of Shootout??? :blonde:
Title: Re: Freezeout or Shootout Post by: thetank on January 16, 2006, 09:50:00 AM A FREEZEOUT is a regular tournament with no re-buys. The WSOP is a freexeout.
A SHOOTOUT works slightly differently. Players stay on the same table until there is 1 left then they progress to the final table. Late Nite Poker is an example of a shootout. Title: Re: Freezeout or Shootout Post by: Sheriff Fatman on January 16, 2006, 09:51:35 AM A freezeout is a normal, non-rebuy multi table tournament.
A shootout is a mulit played as a series of simultaneous single table tournaments where the winners from each table go forward to a final table. Its a fun format. Stars do a lot of satellite shootouts for events such as the WSOP. Sheriff Edit: Damn that Tank fella, he's too quick! Slow and steady wins the race. Title: Re: Freezeout or Shootout Post by: ruthless1 on January 16, 2006, 09:57:32 AM Thanks, i like the sound of the shootouts,
Title: Re: Freezeout or Shootout Post by: thetank on January 16, 2006, 10:17:19 AM I do too. More pain in a shootout though.
Say you've 81 players at 9 tables and the top 9 (the winner from each table) get paid. You've got 9 folk finishing on the bubble instead of just one ;goodvevil; Title: Re: Freezeout or Shootout Post by: Poppet7 on January 16, 2006, 10:19:37 AM Thats what happened to me in a freezeout, I was number 10 ;reallyamsorry;

Yes, theres lots of confusing terminology in poker tournaments. You get used to it. Another one people don't understand is double chance freezeout. Where you get only half your chips to start with, getting the second half as a top up or if you lose them before the top up period is over. Many people think you have to pay again for the top-up. But you've already paid for it with your buy-in. |
