As the title suggests? Never played up there before, any run on a Tuesday?

The G Casino has them running daily. Think they have regular £1/1 and £1/2 NL, and £2/2 dealers choice.

New Genting club opening in a few weeks, its looking pretty good from what I've seen.

1/2 usually starts from about 5:30 ish they have a new shuffling machine and half rack promo on at the minute! The shuffling machine should mean you get at least 4* more hands an hour in as previously the dealers worked at about and average of 5 hands per hour

The 1/2 does get started about 5.30, but the standard of dealer is very poor.

Also, with regards to the new casino it opens very soon and the G casino have only decided to put their rake charges down now, rather than weeks ago, when they knew how much the rake would be at Genting.

Well was the victim of the most rediculous slow roll I've ever seen Nevermind been on the end of. Left pretty pissed off...

Both the Napoloeans casino's and the G casino are an absolute joke regarding poker.

Napoleans. Started playing there at 18 and its always had cardroom managers who bend to the regular's points of view. Some of the rulings ive witnessed dished out there are nothing short of theft. I also know for a fact that some of the staff were in the last 10 years, topping up players stacks during the add-on period in return for a brown envelope during the week. Obviously any rulings can only go one way with this type of malpractice rife. I very seldom play live poker in sheffield but sometimes after a night out i decide to drop in for a nightcap and play a few hands of poker. Some of the same clueless puppets that ran the ecclesall road branch circa 2002 are still there and the dopey cardroom manager whose name escapes me dished out a ruling to me a month or so back that made my blood boil.

I had been out drinking with a friend and we decided to have a quick punt on the way home, i spin a oner up into about 900 and decide to have some banter on the 50p/1 table in a friendly mood. Im having some laughs with a few of the lads and a hand occurs where i peel a 3b (gl getting me to fold when im semi drunk) with 67 and flop the nuts on a 345 rainbow, i just decide to set this kid in for his last £50 ish instead of checking as I normally would. This lad who i'd been having a good crack with is agonising over this decision really hard, so being in a jovial mood and not really caring in which direction the pot floats, decide to flip my cards over and to say, "oh sorry i thought, he said call" anyhow, this guy who i can only describle as a c**t snap calls my hand dead, and without further ado, calls over this card room supervisor who after hearing the story deems my hand dead much to my anger by this point. I was so tilted at this i made an ill timed comment about the standard of the dealer and was correctly asked to leave.  THE PLACE IS A CIRCUS.

There is a guy at napoleans hillsborough, called scott who is the only guy ive seen who actually has a clue about poker and to all my evidence seems impartial. The rest are an absolute joke. The staff are on the whole bitter arrogant and mordib to the extreme.

On a whole different level staff wise, all polite, friendly and one guy who maybe the assistant cardroom manager called tom i think, is knowledgeable, polite and fair.
apart from the cardroom manager who i only had one minor gripe with when i returned from a cig to find him swirling in my seat shuffling my chips which i thought was very unprofessional, i didnt have 1 problem with the casino.

One night about a year ago i took a cab down to the G to watch a late NFL game alone and grab some food and a few beers as my body clock was withered at the time. I didnt get passed the front door and was told i was barred.
the incident they told me was the reason for my banning, was a night where i was in seat 10 with circa 2k in front of me in a 1/2 game. They claimed i stole £6 in rake, I didnt debate this, merely the preposterous notion that this was intentional. I demanded to
see the video evidence after such an allegation and was asked to phone the top honcho the following day. The phonecall served nothing apart from underline my thinking that most human beings are so intellectually inept at business and customer relations and general practice around a workplace. I was told that if i hadn't had brought this issue up ON THEIR OWN FACEBOOK PAGE, i would be allowed back in. Im sorry G CASINO SHEFFIELD but you cannot have a facebook page open to the public and for you to use as free advertisement and censor it in such a way and only allow sycophantic cringe worthy praise of the norm.

Without the wish to sound narcissistic or 'up my own arse' i think the reason i was actually ousted from the poker circle at G was the fact that i said what i meant, and constantly took money off the table which i didnt dump on the tables..(that often)

so in a short answer to your question OP. Don't play poker in sheffield, at least until Genting is opened.

Trigg is right. Both Naps and G Casino aren't run how they should be.

At napoleons everything is run by the regaulars, the start time for tournaments used to be a lot earlier than they are now, but now they start at between 9-9.30pm. Trigg, the Eccy Road card manager I can only think you may be talking about there is Paul Murphy?

Also, had a similar incident to Trigg regarding the Facebook page, wrote on it about staff not being up to it. Then next time I signed in the general manager was all over me trying to bar me from the place. Fortunately for me I got round him, but still a joke, go on what trigg says about why have a FB page??!

The staff at G Casino are such a friendly bunch, but the valets are not, the food is rubbish and the rake charges are ridic.

As for the manager, Andy, a two-faced individual. Says one thing, does the exact opposite. Sits in your chair when you go to loo, hangs around, etc, etc. He is not the card room manager in my view, just staff with a suit.

I genuinely can not wait for Genting to open, because it will destroy the remaining bit of custom the G-Casino has left.

Yh, the Genting's will be good for sure, Raf White involved with the poker so I've no doubt it'll be run very well.

Ha ha I've known the real Raf White for years and sometimes posts on here. Get him on here and he will tell you himself that both Dave and John are wrong here :)

I had no problems with how the game was run, friendly reception staff showed me to the poker area, pit my name on a list for 1/2 and 1/1. Sat down on 1/1 within about 20 mins 4 handed with 2 chavy lads and a nice chatty elderly guy. Then we're joined by 4 Chinese guys. Dealer was pretty slow, but meh It wasn't too bad. The card quality wasn't very good but again I'm nit picking.

Seat on 1/2 came soon after and the table had a shuffle machine like dtd. This is brand new I was told. Dealers seemed like they knew what they were doing. One young lad exposed the bottom card a couple of times by accident and some of the regs were abit harsh on him, which flustered him abit, so he didn't rake a pot for about half an hour.

As for the rake in general. I thought it was very reasonable... Capped at £5, and 5% of any pot below £100.

Players sat with between 100-400. standard is weak. Straddle every hand almost and i regularly raised from late pos over a heap of limpers to pick up pots uncontested regularly.
I saw more donk bets into pre flop raisers in that one session than I can remember seeing anywhere else by a long way, quite lol at times as it seemed like I was back playing in 2006.

Was sat with £380 feeling pretty tired so wasn't going to hang around for much longer when we found Q5dd in mid pos on a straddle pot. We have 1 limper, who earlier put in 1/2 his stack with K8 off, hit a King to double up to £120...he said he would have folded if he didn't hit...ok cool.
I decide to call the £4 too as I was trying to usher a waitress over, folds round to straddle who checks. So we're 3 way and see flop of Qs5h4h. Nice flop... Straddle leads for £8, other guy calls, I make it £22. Straddle calls and the other guy moves all in for £90 something. I call and straddle folds.

The guy asks me do you need another heart fella? What do you have? I say nah I got top 2 and turn over my Q5 as I'm pretty chilled out guy at the table, I know I'm ahead so put him out his misery not knowing if I had a flush draw, so I say what you got then seen as I've turned my hand over, he said your winning. I said ahh come on its a friendly game...just sits there doesn't say anything...okayyy.
Turn is another Qx giving me full house.
I say I guess it's all over now then? He doesn't say anything.

He doesn't flip his cards and I presume I win quite comfortably... I look at the dealer as if to say pass the chips over and the guy says you think you win? I say errm yeah...he says I wasn't pushing all my chips in with shit was I. So I say well turn your cards over then, what you have that beats me? He says to dealer do I have to show, dealer is just sat there... Another player says come on is this some sick slow roll or what, I say just turn the hand over and lets move on. He says I'm just gonna take this money right now....errm not unless you turn your hand over. Almost a minute has passed since the ace was rivered and he turns over an Ace then turns over a Queen.
WTF...see I told you I wasn't pushing on the flop with shit!
I tell him what a tw@t he is and leave the casino.

Valets are crap, food is crap. Soft games though.

If I'm back in Sheffield I will be playing in Genting. Rake free cash games in October.

Played at G last night, still two full tables till the tourney started then dropped to one, but only for bout 45 mins.

I had tried Genting but it was just too slow. I would rather pay the rake and get a few hands in. The 1/2 table is so much better with the new card shuffler, they should get one for the 1/1 also.

I have eaten there a quite a few times and to be fair it is a burger, its better than a football stadium but it isn't michelin star, I am there to play not to critique the food. At least they don't run out of half the bar stock, I had to drink bottled beer at £3.80 a throw in Genting on Monday night. I get about 300-400 points a visit usually, so at least my food and drink is paid for if I don't cash much.

Hopefully Naps and G will start throwing some more money in the pot now Genting is here, been playing more cash as the value had really dropped out the tourney games.

Still some student fish came along and ruined my night!.....

1: picked up kk on the button, raise from utg 4xbb. 2 callers. i pushed all in. 2 callers. ak v aa v my bloody kk.

2: aqs. Raised preflop. Called,  Low flop. I bet out. He calls saying "i shouldnt do this but..." Bet out again, got pushed. had to fold it. The stupid idiot had bottom pair.

3: ak v 66. Raise pre flop. flop : ak2 Pushed all in. Turn was a 10. river was a bloody six.

1. Somebody raised to £8, 2 callers and you pushed all in? How much were you playing?

2. You raised with AQ, c bet low flop he called, you bet the turn and he shoved all in and you folded. Wp him.

3. You lost a flip? Sigh.

Only been playing about a year more seriously, was a lot of pub league stuff before that.

I got lucky last night though.

Playing £1/2 no limit- I raise preflop to £20 with Tc Td and one guy calls. He's been playing bad and showing a lot of bluffs, so I figure I should be able to take some chips from him if I get a decent flop. Flop comes  4h 5h 6c  I bet out £40, he raises me £40 more. I put him on either top pair or some kind of straight/flush draw-so I make a bad move and push in my last £150. He thinks forever, tells me he has 23 but feels he's beat. Finally, he mucks his hand face up and asks if I had his straight beat. I was laughing on the inside b/c I couldn't believe he called my raise with 23 and then mucked when he flopped a straight with it. I told the guy good laydown and wondered how he could possibly think I raised £20 with 37 or 78- the only two hands that beat him!

they let people buy into the £1/2 game for £20 plays really shallow with usually one kid with £500 who wants to move table when anyone wants to cover him at the table. So sick in englands 4th biggest city that we cant get one decent £2/5 game or some deep £1/2 games running

It's a £50 sit down at 1/2. £20 at 1/1.

If you can get some punters in for a 2/5 at Gentings, then I will also join.

And trigg where were you at snooker time this year that the only time we can get a 2/5 table going and tbh the snooker players had none of it. Although i prefer it to be deep 1/2 then 2/5 as i cant afford to sit deep on 2/5. To be fair to andy the game was only going 3 hours or so but got plenty of food and drink for free during that time so cannot complain!


Seemed to work this year when they opened a 1/2 game later in the night inside the card room. Think its better for the snooker lads when its inside less bother for them
