Good riddance!

2 separate occurences where his actions have divided the squad.  No amount of talent can compensate for that.

England will miss him on the field for sure but I don't think anyone should underestimate the massive negative impact he has had in the dressing room.

Despite being pro footballers they are just human beings and the attitude towards terry from a select few players as a result of his indiscretions would have been, at best, awkward and in many cases frosty moving towards hate filled.

I anticipate the England team will improve steadily in his absence.

Well thank you for your comments . I think the views of a proven grimmer should hold no credibility at all (Since you are making it personal)

As a England fan. John Terry played and tried 100% for the national team.

If all England players had his passion.........

But when the TV is at every corner you must watch what you say in the heat of the moment.

Afraid so. I'm just very defensive of me. brummieboy. wsop 2010 or 11 Paul tried to mug him. To be fair he admitted guilt asap.

Started the JT thread because I'm an England fan. And whilst players are not the best at PR.. JT had the passion.

I'm gutted.

He's been one of England's greatest ever players. A talisman. Mr Dependable. A hero.

He was an ambassador for the game and, what is more, a thoroughly decent bloke who I believe the press misunderstood and misrepresented terribly.

EDIT: sorry, I forgot to put [  ] in front of all of that.

lol. Started thinking "wait a minute, Tal is a Spurs fan, what's going on here".
Have to agree Terry did play with passion but is a horrible man. I think he has gone before he was pushed.

England will miss him for sure.

But I see it a totally different way, I think he is thinking he has been harshly treated, so acting like a spoilt brat about it.

From the BBC gossip page:

The Chelsea captain has quit international football and the paper's chief writers have been giving their thoughts on his decision.

Henry Winter says in the Daily Telegraph:  "John Terry claimed on Sunday night that the Football Association had made his position in the England squad 'untenable'. Nonsense. Terry was the author of his own downfall."

Oliver Holt writes in the Daily Mirror:  "He had become seen not as an ambassador for our football but as someone of whom the FA was secretly embarrassed."

Matt Lawton suggests in the Daily Mail:  "Before he complained of the FA making his position 'untenable', he perhaps should have reflected on how often he has made the situation untenable for the England management."

Daniel Taylor writes in the Guardian:  "Terry's argument is a tenuous one, undeserving of sympathy."

Charlie Wyatt complains in the Sun  : "It is still ridiculous that such a courageous, talented player, with at least one major tournament left in him, has decided to quit."

Tony Evans says in the Times (subscription required):  "The end of his international career was looming but he will resent it being forced upon him."

If that quote by him above is correct then it just shows how thick the guy is. Someone else has made his position untenable, the arrogance is breathtaking really.

I don't read it, but would I be right in thinking he has some form of ghost-written column in Murdoch's fish n chip wrapper?

John Terry banned for four games & given £220,000 fine following FA disciplinary hearing

An Independent Regulatory Commission has today [Thursday 27 September 2012] found a charge of misconduct against John Terry proven and has issued a suspension for a period of four matches and a fine of £220,000, pending appeal.

The Football Association charged Mr Terry on Friday 27 July 2012 with using abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards Queens Park Rangers’ Anton Ferdinand and which included a reference to colour and/or race contrary to FA Rule E3[2] in relation to the Queens Park Rangers FC versus Chelsea FC fixture at Loftus Road on 23 October 2011.

The charge was the result of The FA’s long-standing investigation into this matter, which was placed on hold at the request of the Crown Prosecution Service and Mr Terry’s representatives pending the outcome of the criminal trial.

A hearing took place from 24-27 September 2012 before an Independent Regulatory Commission of The FA to consider the charge.

The decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission is as follows:

Mr Terry be suspended from all domestic club football until such time as Chelsea’s First Team have completed four competitive matches
    Fined the sum of £220,000

The Independent Regulatory Commission will provide written reasons for its decision in due course. Mr Terry has the right to appeal the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission to an Appeal Board. An appeal must be lodged within 14 days from receipt of the written reasons for the decision.

The penalty is suspended until after the outcome of any appeal, or the time for appealing expires, or should Mr Terry decide not to appeal. The reason for this is to ensure that the penalty does not take effect before any appeal so that Mr Terry has an effective right of appeal.

is it a burden of proof issue that the FA can find him guilty and a court not guilty?

Exactly that.  Same with the Suarez case, he would have been found 'not guilty' in a court - but the FA don't need 'beyond reasonable doubt', they can rule on 'probability'.

There's a difference between breaking the rules/laws of the governing body of your sport and breaking the law.

Currently staying at The Grove Hotel near Watford. It's the hotel used by the England squad before games and is basically their  training camp before Internationals etc. Got into a chat with one of the door staff about the Hotel, the celebrities who use it and we got into a talk about football, how much the players earn and generally shooting the breeze. He said the players tended to keep themselves to themselves when staying but one player stood out as being a first class tw#t. Yes you guessed it,non other than The Chelsea legend Mr.John Terry.Saw this thread and thought I would just put this out there.Rude, arrogant and selfish were words used.Incidentally Becks was regarded as the very opposite.#Justsaying.
