Title: Bored S**tless Post by: lazaroonie on January 17, 2006, 10:34:17 AM After more than 4 years, I have made a startling revelatio. I am bored S**tless with online poker.
I used to love it - purely because it was the only avenue open to get my fix of poker. Now, with so much going on in the "real life" poker world, I have less and less interest in sitting in front of a computer screen. The problem is though, I still do it, and p*ss away large chunks of money out of pure "boredom". The sad thing is, I have almost got the "perfect game" for STT (when I can be bothered). up until I got bored I would cash in at least 60% of the STT I played. I know for a fact that I havent cashed in any of the last 50 I have played. Its the little things that annoy me - somone taking ages over a call (This normally results in me trying to screw their game by setting them all in on the first raise they make afterwards. They seem to get upset when I turn over 8 2 at this point and suck out, cant imagine why. I sit down with the best intentions, but in the end it lasts about 2 hands before I go into "mayhem" mode. Anyone else been here ? Title: Re: Bored S**tless Post by: patman on January 17, 2006, 10:42:35 AM i found i was doing something similar...
at the time work was boring(still is), i wasnt doing anything else so basically i was playing stt online for "entertainment"...after a while i realised that it was just annoying me sitting in a room clicking on a computer ranting , raving and taking chances i would never have taken if concentrating..so i stopped, for about a month at least. i now only play now and then on line and only when i am relaxed and have done something else(read a book, go for a walk, pictures , out for a meal , had a few days holiday.. anything really,) that way i am not bored because i`m fresh and i dont play long enough to get scunnered...of course the down side is it takes a while to make some cash on the grind.. i still rant like a looney at some of the calls though ;D Title: Re: Bored S**tless Post by: thetank on January 17, 2006, 10:52:54 AM What sites do you play on? ;goodvevil; ;goodvevil; ;goodvevil; ;goodvevil;
Only joking mate Couple of suggestions, Try playing 8ish tables at once, if you're pissing money away anyway you've nowt to lose. Adopting your strategy should be easier as there's less chance you'll get bored and go into mad laz mode. No time to get frustrated at someone lingering over a call etc as you'll be too busy frantically folding on other tables. This should stop you making it personal with another player, a sure fire way to piss your chips against a wall. Online poker is by it's very nature impersonal, looking for anything else from it can only end in frustration. If you're doing this, make sure you play on a site that gives you at least 30 seconds to act, in case you get involved in 5 hands at once. Otherwise, try playing different games, some of the bigger sites have decent traffic on their 7 card stud, Omaha, Omaha hi-lo, 5 card stud, 5 card draw and Crazy Pineapple(Irish) tables. If you're really really bored try combining these two plans and play 7 different types of poker at once. Just for good measure, stick in a mixture of limit, pot-limit and no-limit. Do that for an hour or two and if you show any profit whatsoever tell us all about it and you'll deserve a place in the blonde hall of fame.
