Title: Two quickies
Post by: ACE2M on January 17, 2006, 01:03:44 PM
Heads up in a tourney with a slight chip lead, you limp with 77 and opponent moves all in... Automatic call?

You have 10 times BB in a tourney in the middle stages will you move all in with JJ in any situation?

1. Definite no if I think that I can outplay the other player. Think about it if I think the player can outplay me. Never an automatic call if I have only a slight chip lead. They prob have two overcards.

2. No. Would only move all-in if there had been no previous raises. Any raise prior to this suggests two overcards.

(I dont like deciding my tournament fate on coin flips)

JJ - I think so, unless the action so far made me think I was behind (ie QQ, KK, AA) you're a favourite against overcards and need to get some chips from somewhere...

The JJ situation, you have been raised by player to your right in mid postion for a 1/3 of your chips.. he has double your chips. He is fairly tight but the showdowns you have seen him in have involved 10,10 and QQ and AK.

WHats your move?

If I have 20 mins before the blinds go up then I wait, hoping to buy a couple of blinds in the next couple of rounds to survive and choosing a better spot to get all my chips in later on.

If I have 1 min before the blinds go up I push it in. I doubt I am better than a 50-50 (yeah he might have  Td Th, but he might easily have  Qd Qh or better) so I'm not best pleased about the situation but like the previous post said, you need to start picking up chips soon.

I'd be all in with JJ every time in that situation.

I would get my chips in quickly with both

I pass the 77 unless i feel fliping represents my best shot at winning. You would have to shoot me to get me to pass the JJ

First one, yes 100% of the time.  He has an Ace, and you are better  then 50 50 6times.  Second one, insta all in both on line and live. What you waiting for with 10 bigs?

Obv the JJ we get a hand in the air, the 77 depends how deep we are.

Hmmmm the 77 one is really tough if we're deep. Don't we expect oppo to try to extract value with a bigger pair? What does oppo shove with that has us in big trouble.

If oppo has shoved with better he is tez. If he's shoved with worse he's pretty bad.

Either way he's pretty awful so we probably shouldn't take him on in a 50 50 or worse when we've got a decent edge and are still deep.

I hate laying down a pair HU though but I think we have to.

JJ obv fist pump no matter how deep.

What are the blinds stacks, etc

Why did we limp 77 in the first place? was it to trap or because this person only raises 88+ when limped into?

Interesting thread - nearly as old as that man off the telly on Sky Poker...

Hand 1: Call
Hand 2: Call

I'm unzipping my flies, whipping the little greek fella out, running round the room screaming "yes I got him yes I got him" and trying to get back to the laptop in time to hit call!

A / Fold the 77 if the blinds aren't too big, but would then note hes more than capable of shoving so you want to hide the top starting hands limp and let him hang .

B/ JJ is going in 70% of the time with only 10 BB but if i see raises from the table mouse or a raise followed by a reraise am folding

Possible level??

Either that or you haven't noticed that we're HU?

you have a pair in both spots = all in
