Title: Chelsea v Liverpool. The collective massive votes.
Post by: hector62 on November 07, 2012, 02:00:53 PM
Well we have some positive feedback and some negative. I believe in the theory and I believe in Fred's followers so we shall suck it and see.

Anyone can vote once and I hope you all do, as the more votes the more accurate it will be. Please spend  at least 15 seconds over your choice. Tikay will decide when the vote is over and place the bet. I will leave the amount to bet up to him as he may be influenced by the closeness of the vote.

I am sure that there are more accurate ways of doing this but I think this is quick and simple way of getting collective input.

The bet will get assigned to " The Fred Massive ".

I have voted

I would like to see, and think it would work better with, a poll with a non-binary option for other ones eg who will get relegated, first scorer, correct score etc etc

Think there will be an overs bias in a simple poll like this

In much the same way as people don't like to back draws, unders, 0-0 etc etc, or don't like to fold in poker. Its dull punting!

The OVERS currently have it.

Are we voting on what whether the game will be over/under or whether we think over or under is the best bet?

50 votes now.

As of now, the OVERS have it by 31-19.

The Bet will be £1 per vote. The more votes, the bigger the bet.

Current prices......

People have to "vote" to see the results of the poll?

Are you betting thread money or ice cream money?

No - as far as I know, you just click "View Results", & you can see the Voting. I have not voted, but I can see the Voting.

This is NOT Fred money, it's completely seperate. Just an attempt to have some fun, not sure where it will take us yet.

These 'wisdom of crowds' things work best if the people choosing have to pick their own answer off the top of their heads - by setting a line you provide an anchor point which destroys the effect.

So it would work best with something like 'How many runs will Alastair Cook score in the series against India?' You provide no options - people have a wide range of numbers they can pick from.

Thanks Andrew.

It's hector's thread, but maybe he will do something like that next time.

Mr T. In the other thread you said you had voted for low. I thought I clicked the thingy that said you had to vote to see the result. I am now confused.

Lol, maybe you are right, I don't recall voting, but maybe I did.

Anyway, we now have 60 votes.

How many were you hoping for?

Maybe it is because I am on a phone?  Where I am sat I can't see view results.

Will try and give a better reply on why I think this won't work tomorrow.  Got visitors and not much time today

I think it's an interesting idea and well done to Hector for putting it out there. I do agree with Andrew here though.

There are currently 66 Votes, so the bet will be (unless more votes arrive) £66.

The game is not until tomorrow, so I'll leave it a little longer. Remind me tomorrow though, please.

Current odds?

The Collective Massive voted 43-24 in favour of the "OVERS, as had been suggested, so that is the selection, for better or worse.

So, 43 + 24 = 67, = £67 @ 8/11 with Blue Square, OVER 2.5 goals, Chelsea v Liverpool.

I'm not sure what we do if this wins, but let's get the bet home first.

2-1 at Half-Time would give me chance for a pre NFL nap. Just saying.

The Reds team in full is: Jones, Johnson, Enrique, Agger, Wisdom, Carragher, Sahin, Gerrard, Allen, Sterling, Suarez. Subs: Gulacsi, Cole, Assaidi, Henderson, Coates, Downing, Suso.

Skrtel out with a virus, and Rodgers has gone for 5 at the back. Don't know if that affects the bet at all?

Maybe, but it has not stopped them conceding the first.

Just need 2 more now. What price Liverpool scoring them both?

That was very close - both sides could/should have got a second.
