Title: Southern England Poker Challenge - Ant040689
Post by: Ant040689 on November 15, 2012, 01:14:34 PM
Hi

My name is Anthony Gaughan and I am looking to sell action to the Southern England Poker Challenge held in Reading tomorrow for £550, playing day 1a. I am looking to sell 40% at 1.17.

http://www.gentingcasinos.co.uk/club/reading/poker/special-events/  The estimated prize pool is £75,000.

I am a professional tournament poker player, taking the plunge after uni in the summer and it has been going well. The swings can be brutal but if you put in 20 tables a night like myself you can iron that out pretty quickly but I am used to the madness anyway as I have been playing for over 5 years now.

Below are a list of my sharkscopes:

Note this has me up in the region of $175,000. Maybe not quite got my head around the French sites being down $6.8k, but I am getting there.

On the live front here is my HendonMob - http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=124220

My most recent run was in the Irish Winter Festival that Julian Thew final tabled. I played some of the best stuff of my life. My value betting and value inducing check calling was pretty superb. My bluff catching too was on point and I felt in dominant mood. It ended in an unfortunate way though giving my chips to Mr. Thew coming in 30th, with QQ on a 389 board with about 50 bbs getting in, him having 333. I was 9th at the time and really had a chance of taking it down but overplayed that hand a touch but always learning and have now become a much better live player for it.

Aside from those listed there is also a £5k win that hasn't been put up as the Vic don't put up the results of their £330 monthly, but I am going there tonight to see if I can change that.

I have decided to ask for backing for live tourns £500 or over now to limit the variance and increase my experience at the same time by playing more and more. I think I have missed too many by avoiding them because of the risk and am now fed up by that and am looking to get backed in this nature a lot more if people are interested. I also am starting to really enjoy them which is another factor.

I am selling 40% at 1.17. I think the mark up is good value and is a reduction on my last request of 1.23 which did still get backing. 1.17 is still a little steep as well but hopefully there is interest as I believe it is still value.

So the pieces are 5% = £32
                       10% = £64
                       20% = £128
                       40% = £256

5% is the minimum request accepted.

I believe you would get good references of me from Bobalike, Greekstein, F3nix35, pleno1, Rupert and StuartHopkin, all of which I have sent money to, as per agreements, with no problems.

Thanks for reading! (A disastrous pun).

I'll take it all at 1.15 or 36% at 1.17, you put two different markups

I meant 1.17, apologies and 36% booked.

Ripple are you ok with 4% at 1.17 instead?

If you don't fancy it Ripple I don't mind btw, don't feel pressured. I will play 36% backed if you don't want it and there would be no qualms from me.

N1 Bobalike, ty.

Just shy of 28k from 20k starting at first break. Got Steve Watts at my table. Laid down 65 on a A5725 board, or something like that, against him after saying I thought he had a 5, he showed and did but the same hand!

Showing my instincts are on point atm and may it continue in this tourn.

22k a level before the dinner break. Misplayed a hand that would have given me another 4k chips if played correctly but fluffed it, otherwise, solid.

Dinner break now and have 13k going into 400/800 when we get back. Played a hand quite poorly to get down. Otherwise been a little card dead and been blinding down a little. Plenty of chips tho with the hour clock and I should be able to find a good spot. Need to run this stack up!

Been talking with Steve Watts btw, top bloke.

blame Jack Wills and Abercrombie and Finch.  You would never get away with calling em that when we wore Lacoste & Pringle

32 runners. They expect 50 I heard tomoz as well.

I finished on 19750 with blinds restarting 600/1200, abso nothing I could do really just card dead and been getting open shoves through. Got to travel back on Sunday with not much of a stack but its not too bad a trip.

Expect 80 runners, 15k up top with final table paid is the prediction.

110 players from both days combined in so far, with late reg open until 10.30pm tonight.

More than I expected after day 1b, but that is good to see.

Will update every hour (end of level) on here tomorrow, and I am bringing reinforcement batteries for my phone so I should be good to update throughout. Lets hope tomorrow is a long day/night for me!

The person on the phone sold me a dummy, I asked how many runners were there for day 1b and she gives me the the runners total, which is probably partly my fault as well.

Means a lot less up for grabs with the £36k ish prizepool, dependent on if there were anymore late reg. £13k ftw looks about right. I have a lot of work to do as I was dead last of the 13 players returning from day 1a, but 16 bbs is plenty to find a spot and I hope it kicks off well for me.

Open shoved 18.5k from CO at 600/1200 with 55. James Akenhead called from bb with more with AK. Flop 68Q, turn 8, terrible, then K river.

Won that and I am back in it. Thank you for the backing guys. Will be asking for more soon, just hope for better luck next time!
