Title: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Tal on December 13, 2012, 01:16:26 PM I'm heading down on Saturday to have a few hours in what I hope will be warmer conditions than there are today.
If anyone has any views, tips, idle speculations or opinions on any of the runners, I'm only too happy to hear from you. If it is heavy, I'm anticipating low weight mudlarks are a good starting point. Reply post, PM or email. Thanks Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: kinboshi on December 13, 2012, 05:27:50 PM ;goodluck;

Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Tal on December 13, 2012, 05:50:05 PM Cheers, chaps.
Am hoping to be in the papers the next morning with an oversized cheque. More likely, happy to break even. Even more likely conclude "well at least I had a good day" Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Karabiner on December 13, 2012, 11:37:34 PM It's a very tough card Simon although I quite like Zarkandar's chances in the big hurdle race.
6/4 or better would look tempting to me. Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: outragous76 on December 14, 2012, 12:45:32 AM id choose the horse with the rider in pretty colours, or alternatively one with a funny or striking name!
Bookies put numbers after the horses names - just ignore those bits, its just for their internal house keeping! Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Tal on December 14, 2012, 12:47:35 AM You've seen me play poker, haven't you?

Ground a worry for Zarkandar? Ground a worry for Zarkandar? Good to soft, good in places sounds fine. Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Tal on December 14, 2012, 06:27:34 PM Slightly disappointing card although not a complete surprise. Lots of short favourites.
Any thoughts on 12.45 against the favourite? Best Served Cold offer anything at 20-1 for e/w punt? Six horse race but it doesn't mind heavy and 11-1 doesn't look a prohibitive weight. Needs to perform well to have a chance, mind. Probably going to duck away before the last. Only so much enjoyment can be derived from a 3 horse race with a 1/5 favourite (without a chess board) Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: T_Mar on December 15, 2012, 12:11:57 AM just concentrate on the big hcap.. 2:30 i think, cracking betting race
Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Tal on December 15, 2012, 12:24:16 AM just concentrate on the big hcap.. 2:30 i think, cracking betting race Yes I like Cristal Bonus but I'm not enamoured with 6/1. Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Karabiner on December 15, 2012, 12:57:47 AM I've had a small dabble ew on Renard @ 25/1 in that race, the stable's in good form and it looks like it's on a decent handicap mark with room for some possible improvement too.
It's bigger in the win market on betty. It's bigger in the win market on betty. That's an interesting one. Right down the weights is Have You Seen Me, which is seemingly a mudlark off a two year rest. Should go 21f. Happy in Heavy. Has done OK at Cheltenham in the past. It's off 10st having run off 11st7 in the past. Food for thought certainly. I do take your point tho. Rightly or wrongly, I am also minded to follow Venetia Williams's horses ATM. Yes too much importance can be put on these things but nice to have a little extra confidence in your bets, even if ill-placed. Ultimately I'm not going to be degenning like a crazy mad person. If I get a winner, it should set the day up nicely. Might take a scarf... (No Edgascoigne wax jackets in my wardrobe I'm afraid) Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Biddy 62 on December 15, 2012, 08:39:56 AM I'd have a nice big bet accumolator= Zarkander, oscar whisky, far west, Rocky creek (Donny) and Our Father. Have a good day. 5 timer pays around 12/1
Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: tikay on December 15, 2012, 08:45:37 AM Have a good day Posh Bloke, and don't forget to cheer home Fred's horse (Astracad) in the big one.

Tikay, no helicopter, no wax jacket and no binoculars today #underprepared. Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Biddy 62 on December 15, 2012, 09:00:17 AM 2.30 race bottom one of Nichols, Unioniste getting backed. Wish i was going.
Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Tal on December 15, 2012, 09:14:01 AM Wishful Thinking has been pulled. Probably not a surprise.
Ground heavy, soft in places. Going to be pretty unpleasant for the runners and riders. Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Acidmouse on December 15, 2012, 02:18:06 PM I love Ruby Walsh, holding off Mcoy at the death to win :) filled up my round robin..

That Zarkandar looks tough,

Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Horneris on December 15, 2012, 07:12:27 PM Zarkandar was just a bit sharper, was Grandouet's first run in a year.
Grandouet will reverse the form in March, he has bundles of ability. Grandouet will reverse the form in March, he has bundles of ability. This was the verdict from the conversation in the car home. Couldn't agree more. Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Biddy 62 on December 16, 2012, 11:15:34 AM Yes i'm tempted to take the 6/1
Title: Re: Cheltenham 15 December 2012 Post by: Doobs on December 16, 2012, 11:21:16 AM Grandouet is a bit fragile. I don't think it is obvious that the form will be reversed as Zarkandar seems better this year than last.
I would just back Grandouet when he runs, but if you must back him you will get 6.8/1 on Betfair.
