Is this at all possible?

  I play on Pokerstars, and to their best customers, they give around 70% of the fees back to you as a way to reward loyalty.  In one calendar year, the current record is roughly $550k in fees, (of which they got around $390k back.)  Next year, I plan to pay $1.45m in fees and get one million dollars back.  To do so, I will make something in the area of 10 million poker decisions in a year.

that blog post reads so badly imo, but the 2+2 thread he comes across ok i think.

I'm not being funny I can't think of anything worse, if someone offered to stake me for the games on a 10% freeroll and I get to keep 100% of the rakeback on the proviso I rake $1.45m I'm not actually convinced I'd wanna do it lol its horrific.

Without being harsh he must have a some social/pshy issues as he's assumably comfortably off(?) if he's rolled for a $100k downswing and he's undisputedly a winner in these games pre-rb then why on earth would you want to move back to your parents house and lock yourself away for a year? I don't think it's unreasonable to say he could play 1/4 of the volume and make $200k in a year whilst actually having some semblence of a life.

I think there is more to this than meets the eye personally...

It seems like itll be soul destroying. Iv spoken to people who have SNE in the past and they say thats bad enough.

I have played with Awice a fair bit. He wasn't too great earlier in the year! I know he was mass tabling the $30 games with not much success at all, but he has improved hugely since then. A student of mine is playing him a lot in the high stakes hypers and he's now one of the best regs.

His mass tabling abilities are pretty insane, so I really wouldn't rule this out!

Will be keeping an eye on this one for sure.

Well I presume he will get sponsorship with Stars at the end of it!

A friend is doing the same thing but hasn't 2+2/officially released his blog yet. - Going for first SNE and all the records along the way.

He's so motivated it's ridic. I'm sure they're both going to make it but he will be playing all the 1k and 3ks around Scoop/Wcoop to make it a bit easier.

@Camel, it's odd that you don't respect his drive, would you say the same about Bradley Wiggins for example? He's given up his life to pedal a bike for a few quid, but most people (myself included) seem to have the utmost respect for him. It's madness if you think about it. This is the same thing I think.

Good luck to him I say.  If I had an opportunity to work really hard for a year but at the end be a millionaire (or close to it), I think I'd jump at the chance.     I know it'd be different for me as he's used to the high stakes and is probably rolled and living the life already, but I'd never have to work again.

I don't find any fundamental merit in playing loads of poker.

I play online poker purely to try and make a living.

Would you be impressed if an accountant or a civil servant did a record amount of overtime in order to receive the highest take home wages?

To compare a geezer playing loads of poker with a world class athlete is a huge leap of logic imo.

Regardless of how worthwhile we deem the activity I don't think anyone could claim it wouldn't be an excellent achievement if he were to pull it off. Personally I think what he's doing is bad for him and I feel pretty strongly he has prolly got a lot of social anxiety issues, it'd certainly be a lot healthier to work on that side of his life, and not do this, but he's made the decision to do this so who I am to say you're doing the wrong thing with your life.

I hope he does it, won't bother me too much if he doesn't but sure good luck to the guy why not.

I don't think this is just about the money. Sure the guy will get a whole heap of it but he'll also achieve something that nobody else has ever done. Isn't that in some way impressive?

You can't really compare it to Bradley Wiggins. Wiggins would be more comparable to someone who plays highstakes cash games or someone like Dan Smith who has won loads in MTTs this year, or Greg Merson.

Wice would be more comparable to the guy who cycled the most miles in 2012. I wonder who that is exactly?

I can't think of anything worse than all the millions of people who go to work everyday for hrs in jobs they abso HATE for a huge % of there life time. Granted some might have 'no' choice. Although most do imo.

Also, what about all the 'idiots' who spend countless hrs 'wasting' there time on Forums etc :)

Spread over 7 years, 179 days isn't actually that much.

Roughly 600 hours per year, much of that with the forum open on the task bar, but not being browsed.

I don't think playing an insane amount of hours could be described as "fun" by anyone. I doubt even the guy himself would imagine he'll enjoy it.

"The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time" fair play to the guy , hope he does it.

I'd absolutely sacrifice a year of my life for a significant amount of money. Doesn't sound like much fun but would make the rest of his life much easier

Awice has made supernova already, in just over 39 hours to become the fastest ever to reach this level. He's heavily backed to break all SNE records this year.

saw the top leaderboard of vpp earners, it's an absolute farce how these people do it. sne in such a short time must be so mind numbing it's untrue.

The drive, determination and skill is truly remarkable. Just seems to be wasted on poker/SNE grinding.

He was 50 tabling hypers lol, and when I did a little research into these games recently I was told that 8 tabling hypers was similar to 24 tabling 180s .

Pokerstars fees are roughly 10% which means he needs to turnover $14.5m to achieve it???

Obviously he doesn't need that amount as inevitably there will be wins.

And to not be doing it for the money as it means nothing to him - it seems a tad odd to me.

200 hypers are ~193.5 + $6.50 rake i believe, so a little more haha

I bet pokerstars are licking there lips! nice little bonus for them from the figures i have heard mentioned they will make pokerstars around $1500 a day clear profit after rakeback etc! In these early days while they are going crazy it is probably much more than this!

First SNE elite gets a day of their choosing to be double fpp and vpp. Presuming these guys have the rolls to grind wcoop day before main/main day, they could rake a sick amount of fpps etc, wouldn't they even touch 160% rakeback? Alex and Mouldy both did 40 hour plus straight sessions in race to first so surely they could do 24 hour straight. Jorj95 got 100k vpp in one day playing those sats i think, so if he did say a 16 hour sessions, these guys could earn 300kvpp in a day, maybe more if they were smart and paid other regs x% a game to play. Could see an obscene day.

The year I made SNE they had a whole week of double vpp FOR EVERYONE!

They'd lose a fortune doing that now. I'm guessing the vpp grinding wasn't quite as optimized then. Sne is some achievement!

I guess he has hit a downswing.

He's backed by one of the biggest online stables. They have umpteen high/mid stake horses so that won't affect him. Gone to program and doesn't want a stars deal hence no tweeting and not really playing

this guy is a hero, i read his blog a couple months back and i loved it.
