Title: I suck at these but here go's ...
Post by: hiamchris on January 01, 2013, 03:37:35 AM
HI Everyone,

I'm pretty new to Blonde so if i am putting this in the wrong area and there's a blog section i should put this in please move it :) I enjoy reading the updates of Alex, Ant and John Black amongst others on here and just hope i can use this as a tool to motivate myself. With it being a new year i feel like i need to do something to help me hit a few goals in 2013 and maybe doing something like this might give me the drive to finish them. Some of the goals will be poker based and a few others like getting fitter (i know everyone says it at this time of the year) are life/general happiness based.

As i said i really suck at writing these and not really sure what i'm going to put in it or if anything is going to be interesting reading but i will give it a go. I need to have a think now about what i want to achieve during 2013 and how i'm going to make it my biatch, i wish i could have some cool goals like Alex but i'm not sure how i can arrange a threesome and either not feel guilty about it or my lovely gf to be happy about it :\

Gl to everyone in 2013 and a Happy New Year to all

x

Suggest it as something you both do together as s couple.

You have the 'third' as a person for you both to play with.... Most girls get hung up on the idea that you just want to screw another girl.  Tell her you want her to screw another girl, using you... And suddenly its a winnar..

You're welcome, welcome to blonde and gl with the diary.

Love how "the threesome" is appearing on so many threads.
The assumption that the 3rd person is going to be a woman :)

cheers for all the kind words so far, ill hopefully post fairly regularly and just hope it doesnt bore people. I  will prob post quite a few hand history's so would appreciate all feedback from you guys.

a brief description of my poker history, i started playing probably 7 or 8 years ago just messing around at a mates house playing against him his mum and a couple of mates, constantly getting outkicked and thinking i was so unlucky  :) eventually got brave enough and deposited online and played on Holdempoker (was similar software to pokerroom) and also on 888 where i played pretty much all sit n gos, no clue if a lot were turbo or standard but def remember playing some 4 max hyper type games and realising pretty quickly that when the blinds got big i could shove A LOT and people would just fold (and if they called i could still win and have a massive stack anyways). Eventually found pokerstars and dabbled with 180 man sit n gos, 45 mans and 27 man sit n gos. Started off a loser in the 5 dollar games but persisted and eventually started winning, moved onto playing 2 tables then 4 before moving to stt's where i played between 4 and 8 usually. This was in the days before every stt had 5 multitabling wizards in it, i wouldn't say i always played perfect sit n go strategy but i seemed to do ok, think it still has me down on sharkscope on my old account on stars as having the highest $ per game win rate over 500 games at 5 dollar stt's.

I moved up from 5 dollars to 10 dollar games and then to 20 dollar games (which was where i hit a wall albeit over a tiny sample size). After that i don't really have many poker achievements, the last few years i really haven't played enough and hopefully this diary will be a way of keeping me playing but also i think this is the first time ive ever been really settled down and thankfully my lovely partner doesnt object to me playing although she has no idea what it's all about/involves and what beats what. I used to play the odd pub game with to qualify for champions poker and Redtooth poker national finals but stopped when i realised they aren't really worth playing that often to qualify for. I managed to win a redtooth regional event for £500 in Birmingham out of 188 players which was my first 100 plus player live win (nb for a freeroll) but then bust pretty early in their national final. I then qualified for Champions poker's national by winning an online second chance game and then also finished 3rd in a live qualifier (top 9 qualified) for about £100. At their national final i survived day one and came back the following day with ten bb's, a couple hours in and i was challenging for the chip lead. I eventually bust sixth, aq < 33 all in pre flopping a double gutter :( and won an ipad for my troubles. I then pretty much stopped playing pub poker but ended up playing a freeroll with 250 others with ten places going to the national final at DTD and made it. Devilfish and Lucy Pinder (phwoaaaar) were there special guests and there were about 400 runners, i eventually bust 12th jamming 35s into the bb who find AQ gg me :(

Ive played a couple of APAT's and never really done anything, still looking for a first decent score. Between September and December of 2012 i started grinding up a bank roll, i deposited 50 dollars on stars and through playing a few sit n gos, some mtts and some plo and plo 8 cash managed to turn this into just short of 1000 dollars... the plan was to start moving up and playing bigger than i had been (5 dollar mtts/sng and 5/10 Cents Cash) but then Christmas hit and ive ended up withdrawing it for the time being. I suppose my first goal for this year is to now build a poker bankroll from scratch again as quickly as possible, not really sure what im going to end up playing, i know people will suggest to stick to one thing mainly but i honestly love playing Mtt;s an cash :\ advice??

I think ive rambled enough for know, hope everyone had a great new year x

Currently live with my girlfiriend and her six year old son, yesterday afternoon his second baby tooth fell out and when he was out of the room the subject of how much mioney we put under his pillow arrises. From what i remember i think he ended up getting a fiver (wtf?) for his first tooth. Her sister ends up hinting that he's going to get a fiver again, is this really the going rate for a tooth these days? Anyways Adam goes to bed and puts his tooth in a little jewellery/ring box under his pillow and falls asleep, downstairs me and his mum discuss how much to give him and eventually settle on 3 pounds (still a lot?). She then goes to swap the money for the tooth, i walk up the stairs and see her rooting under his pillow but can't find anything, all of a sudden he sits up and stairs at me, eyes wide but thankfully he just grunts turns over and falls back asleep. We then find the box witht he tooth in it behind the bed on a table, what is propper tooth fairy etiquette?

1 Take the box with the tooth in it and put the money under his pillow

2 Take the tooth out of the box and leave the money in the box on the table

3 Leave the money in the box but put it back under his pillow

Either way he's a happy boy this morning twittering away LOUDLY to himself at half 7

We gave our daughter a fiver the first tooth she lost but then it was down to £2 per tooth.  Once though she did leave a note for the fairy asking why she only got £2 when one of her friends got £5.  The Mrs decided to be soppy and write back explaining why and that it is also a bit rude to ask, but perhaps as a one off she'd get £5 if she was good.  Anyway, she did get that £5 on the next one but it's back to £2 for the rest I'm afraid.

Not much been going on this week, still trying to figure out what goals i want to set (i really want them to be acheivable if i push myself). Played my first game of poker of the new year at the pub, five pound rebuy and i played pretty bad. Struggling for funds because my bank card got eaten by a cash machine on new years :( ended up getting it in after the rebuy period heads up with 66 vs a6, obv no good.

Hosting a cash game tomorrow night (10p/25p), couple of questions would you guys make the minimum sit down £5 or £10, i don't really want a maximum but the game is "supposed" to be quite friendly. Fridge is full of beer, the chips are ready, just need to go out and buy a couple of fold up chairs cheap if possible. Looking forward to playing, can't really afford to play 50/1 in a casino so im hoping to get a regular home game going (maybe every couple of weeks) which would be sweet. Currently got a dilemma though because i want to run tournaments, ive just bought a fold up table that will go on the kitchen table, the other table i own is a weber(?) and doesnt fold up and has two weird "legs" that it slots on to. Because of the angle of the stairs it is too wide to fit up the stairs, the only way to get it in is  through the living room windows wide open and at an angle... this would be fun if it was on the ground floor, unfortuanately we live above a shop lol

Managed to fit in some maths homework with my gf's lad, i have a 1000 piece chip set and wanted to find out if id lost any, so got all the different colours into stacks of ten and then got him counting in tens and writing down down how many of each we had. Then i had to find a decent deck of cards, found two sets of pokerstars cards and got him to arrange them all into suits to see if they were all there. Quite cute i cant remember exactly what he called them but i asked him what the queen of (clubs) was called and he said the queen of broccoli trees lol Finally tought him once we had found all the cards to check the backs of them for any marks and and that if we find a mark we cant use the deck, found one on one card so thats now his deck lol

Lastly on the way home went to get petrol, put £10 in, my car is litterally straight outside where they take payments from outside once it gets to a certain time at night. There was no other car there and nobody in the shop bit, is it lazy of me to point at the service window or should i just ignore that, walk in pay, walk out get in the car and leave lol?

Thanks to a close friend ive got a job interview tomorrow afternoon, wish me luck :)

Fun cash game, kinda ruined pokerwise that people would rather play 50 bb stacks than buy in to cover the table. End up winning a buy in, mostlly thanks to my mate (pilf) saying he was going to own me post flop this one hand. i raise jqo, he calls sb, bb calls , flop jq3, i bet 1.50 he makes it 4 out of 15 ish stack i jam and he gambles with 9T. One other hand, two limpers i make it 1.25 on the button with 45o, sb calls, pilf tank calls, one other caller, flop comes A 3 3, checks to me, i check back, turn comes a 2, sb bets 2, pilf calls, i make it 8, sb jams for maybe 10/12 more and pilf tank folds AK. Sb has 45s for a chop :(

Hopefully bank card arrives tomorrow and i can deposit on stars or 888 and start playing online, still suck at trying to decide what i want to accomplish this year :\

* Loose two stone in weight before 2014 rolls in

* Have sat in a 50/1 cash game in a casino

* Have a four figure score online

* Cash/Final Table  a £75 + buy in 2 day tourny live

Still need some more specific goals mainly for online play but i really don't know if i'll end up playing more cash, sng's or mtt's this year.

In future, when someone makes a comment like "im going to own you postflop.." then check raises.... Jamming it in his eye probably takes away any way he can outplay you.
Probably best to just tank call, tank call etc... :D

Sounds good so far.  I can't believe the cost of teeth, im sure i only had £1 and it wasn't that long ago.

Definitely worth working out what you 'want' from poker???
Money
Glory
Trophies
Fun
Etc and what type of poker you are going to start with, work on and where do you want to get to...?

I agree about tank calling, stacks werent that deep so think check calling or check raising the turn and stacks would be in anyways. Was really crap tho because hes a v good player and was supposed to be bringing 250 bb's and ended up with 100 because of christmas stuff and when he went the game sucked because it was full of short stack nits :(

I know its best to focus on one type of poker but i really want to play a fair bit of online cash and online mtt's. Will post more on this later

Sorry for the slow start to this blog, my bank cards have now come through so i will depositing/playing online in the next couple of days depending on the outcome a call back for a second job interview tomorrow morning.

This will probably have quite a big effect on what i decide to focus on, if im succesfull then its likely i will concentrate on more cash this year as i simply won't have the time to play tournaments but will have time to fit in cash sessions. If i don't get the job then i will be depositing a small amount (probably on pokerstars) and will aim to build for the next month/two months playing some mtt's but more likely some sit n go's.

Quite a lot depends on tomorrow morning but either way im hoping to get my first online session of the year in tomorrow, going to try get a decent nites sleep tonite so that i don't look too rough tomorrow lol

2nd interview felt like it went well, Crapped myself walking into the interview room when i saw a keyboard, mouse and works telephone on the table. Really thought i was going to have to do some role play but ended up just being a conversation with a guy i'd already met and another manager. I havent had a lot of interviews ... ever so its all pretty new to me but i answered the questions as best and as honestly (a mistake?) as i could. It's a whole different world from my last job where the bosses seemed like they were in a different world and these guys seemed very much down to earth. Was sposed to get a call today so i guess ill have to wait a little longer to find out whether i've got it or not.

Finally deposited tonight for the first time 2013, put 150 dollars on 888 to play cash with. I think that playing cash during the week and trying to fit in sessions when i can is going to better for my lifestyle this year. Recently moved in with my gf and her son so im still sort of getting use to a family household. Don't have as much privacy/time on my own as i used to living with my parents. Besides it fitting into my life better i think its also the aspect of poker i would like to improve upon the most. More specifically i want to get better at NL Holdem Cash starting at 5/10 cents and working my way up through the limits. I'm not going to aim for anything rediculous but if i could be playing 25/50 cents as my regular game by between june and september i'd be very happy and i guess a goal for the year would to try and be playing 50/1 online by the end of the year and also sitting in 50/1 games in casinos. The first aim though is to beat 5/10 cents and just improve my cash game, watch video's and to get used to the swings in cash that u simply don't get as a low stakes sit n go player (or maybe ive just forgotten the dowswings).

So as i said cash is going to be my main priority with probably a couple of tournament schedules on the weekends and also a few live tournys. Played my first online cash session on the laptop, booted up 4 tables of NLH and played for 10 minutes before having to shut them down. Lost 3 - 4 dollars, mainly because of a hand with redic aggressive stats for the short time i was playing and calling him down on an A2x flop with AJ and getting shown A2. Came back to the laptop to play some more holdem but checked the plo lobby out and saw a seat free. End up sat in 3 omaha tables for the next  30 minutes and procede to win about 4 buyins back. I know i should prob still be playing as the games seemed pretty good but gotta be up at 8 to take the kid to school in the morning.

I find omaha a much more addictive cash game than holdem, i guess because it feels like you have a reason to play so many more hands and i'm sure it won't be the only time i play it this year. I've been trying really hard to get the home cash game players to play Omaha for an hour but had no luck. None of them have played it before and they don't have any desire to learn another game, they know holdem (kinda) and like holdem and that is what they wan't to play.

Quick question before i call it a night, how many people use table ninja? how good is it?  For sit n go's i roughly can play 8 and do well, how many more tables is it likely that i would be able to play if i had it?

I get the feeling that you are in a similar position to where I was last year when I was playing a bit of everything with no real focus on goals or direction. Just cause you lost the A2 hand I dont see why that made you go and open up some PLO games.

PLO is a very addictive game cause as you said you feel that you can see a lot more hands, this being said you can lose a lot more with than mindset also. PLO is so dangerous but its also a quick way of roll building if you get on a crazy fishy table.

I have recently started using TN I had previously only played 6 tables before but I am now comfortably playing 8 with looking to move to 10 in the coming days.

Sorry if I sound a bit negative as its not intended I just think that depending on why you are playing etc you should have some focus and direction on 1 aspect of the game instead of many.

Will update more later as currently on a course but I wouldn't say I stopped playing Holdem last nite because of that hand I just had some house things I needed to do and then when I booted back up I stupidly looked at the Omaha tables and booted some games up.

To clarify I want to focus this year on Nlh, this is the game I want to be better at but for variation I will play some micro stakes tourny's occasionally and especially on a Sunday, I have goals I'm just not sure what's realistic, they need to be achievable and I don't want to set myself up for a fall.

When i started this i had the best intentions to put in some serious volume playing, so far i feel like its been a bit of a waste of time as i haven't managed to put hardly any hours in for various reasons:

* Didn't have bank card for the first week of the year (i could of put money on sites using other methods)

* Family time

*spending time with a mate whos worlds been destryoyed (missus left him)

* Attending a few interviews and then being nervous about whether i'd impressed/would get the job

*Been on my laptop as my computers been whiped and been messing about and tweaking it to try and get it and the office it's in how i want it

Of course not all of those took up loads of time and possibly they all just add to me being scared to play because i don't want to fail. I want to make money and i really want to get better/decent at playing NLH cash and the only way to do that is to put in the hours and sessions.

Year so far -

1 pub tournanent £5 rebuy - lost my buyin

1 Home cash game - won £27

a few online NLH and PLO small sessions - won 81 dollars

NLH stats - 1218 hands all at 10NL, won 47.49, Playing 36/22 which doesn't look great, i guess i need to be raising/reraising  more and obv playing less hands.

Should have my computer room sorted this week at some point, just need to install anti virus and a few other programs (and then all the poker sites and trackers) and it will be ready to go. Will have a few hours most evenings to play but won't be playing late into the nite with work in the morning and i want to make a good impression.

First day back at work, I was made redundant last June. Ive always struggled with crippling shyness so trying to take everything in and meeting new people is not the easiest experience for me.

I agreed to play football after work with some colleagues so we will see how that goes :/

Tbh really want to get home and boot some tables up but I really need help mentally with poker. When I have free time (but limited income) I either lack the motivation to play or I don't play because I'm scared of losing.

Now I don't have the time to play as much I really want to play. I think Cash is definitely the way to go and I'll pat some Holdem hands later although there isn't really any interesting hands yet. I love six max but difinitely need to be flatting and either rr or folding more than I am. Im on 888 so the standard isn't as good as stars, can u get away with flatting in position more with a wider range then re raising and playing much more inflated pots at 10nl? I come from a sit n go background so trying to play through the streets more as opposed to big decisions pre and on the flop

Crazy final table so far, was up to 800k after winning a race with ak v qq to go chipleader then lost some down to 500k, then lose a pot that would have put me to a million with kq v a4s on a k33 two spade flop, down to 2 bigs, now back up to second in chips witgh 5 left, gtd 110 ...guy actually folded for less than a bb when i was down to 2 bb, thank you sir

Cheers yeah, a welcome boost , taken the original 150 dollars I put on a week ish a go and left 400 on and hopefully won't withdraw again, annoyed at how I played the heads up but I can't really moan when I was down to 2 bb's 3 or 4 tables out and again with 8 left, nice to shove blind on blind for 2 bigs and get a fold :D

End of month update, slow month played no where near the amount i wanted to but then starting a new job was always going to have to come first.

Finished the month up 410 dollars online, which for the amount of volume i put in is a good return. 270 of that is from tournaments and the rest from 5/10c cash tables.

Trying to decide whether to move the money over to stars or stick on here till i have played enough and feel like i can comfortably beat the cash games on 888 first. Also this is going to be hard to fit in too at the mo but like many others i need to lose some weight. I have a gym membership and need to start pounding it after work but once i finish i just want to get home and relax atm. Really need to shift between 2 and a half and 3 stone to be happy and i know it would have a massive improvement on my football and in life in general.

Just reserved seats for apat worlds at the end of March, hopefully go down on the friday and play the horse, razz, 6 max, omaha and HU. If i have to drop one to play the ME then i really don't know which one it would be but not to make sure i have the funds first. It's the weekend after payday which is nice. Suppose i could say that if i can shift a stone before the end of march then  i will treat myself to the main event.

I have been playing on my laptop all month and now have just set up my computer with monitors in my little office so hopefully playing and multitabling will be a better experience now because of bigger screens.

So far this is dying on its arse so to speak.

This month I'm up a little, still not playing anywhere near the volume I would like. Probably up a very small amount in cash and won an Omaha tournament for 120 dollars (2 dollar buy in).

The aim was to play cash only but it's not really working and I'm up a lot more at tournys. I still want to play cash but I'm def going to play some tournament sessions as well.

I have a goal which is that I want to make money from poker for two things. Firstly in a year or so I get a considerable amount for a deposit on a house. By that time I would like to be able to minimum at least match that amount and preferably have more than it. Secondly is to find a trip to America, Australia Japan and possibly a couple of other places.

Also starting march 1st I want to shift a LOT of weight so I'll record starting weight, what I want to achieve and how it's going soon. Scared to look at the scales tbh as since I got my job I feel like I've put on even more :(

So the start of a new month, the main thing about this month is going to be the fitness kick. Had a massive meal last night before i started it today, went to this new chinese buffet place that's opened in Halifax near where i live. It's pretty awesome, loads and loads of food to choose from including lot's of peoples favourite Sweet & Sour chicken :D and then they have a section for you to choose different bits of meats and fish and get them grilled up which is cool. We have a mongolian restaurant 5 mins from our house which specialises in that kind of thing. Then you get the dessert section, they have soo many cakes to choose from, an ice cream machine and then the greatest thing at all (not if you wanna lose weight), the chocolate fountain, marshmellows covered in chocolate are so nice and addictive!!

So as of today i'm going on a serious health kick, going to try hit the gym 3 - 4 days a week, i want to ban bread and chips straight away and then ill gradually phase out other foods when we run out of them. I guess the main thing is just to eat less, since starting my new job in January i feel pretty horrible, i'm basically a data input monkey for a web based company (wish it was simple data input sometimes) and i'm sat down all day which with other jobs i've never been used to. Top this off with when i get home from work i don't really go out and have had to stop organising football in evenings because i can't organise it whilst i'm at work. Pretty much at an all time high in my weight, i weight myself in last nite and i guess the best thing to do is say it on here, im 15st 3 which depressed me quite a lot but i was expecting it. Hopefully by embarrasing myself here it will encourage me not to slack off and to really smash this and give myself a new lease of life. The aim is to get in the best shape i've ever been in and hopefully make me a lot less self conscious and a lot happier in life in general.

My first aim is to drop to 14 st within a month in time for the Apat worlds and as a treat, if i manage to lose it i'll treat myself to the main event, if i get to 13st 7 then i'm going to treat myself by sitting in my first ever 50/1 cash game so if anyones around at that time there might be some free money going :(. As i said in another post so far i'm planning on going down on the Friday and staying at the Raddison Holiday Inn untill Monday and driving back whatever time me and my mate are both out or both finished railing/playing cash.  Really looking forward to it, playing all the side events apart from stud, so razz, 6 max, omaha, heads up and horse. Only thing im worried about is that the live structures for stud  based/mixed games haven't always been the best in the past (imo) but i feel like i have probably played more of those games than most people entering so hopefully will have a small "edge". Should be a really good weekend and i can't wait.

On the online poker front i have probably been about break even in cash when i have played recently, i don't feel like i have run pretty well but also made some crappy plays and i need to tighten up. Maybe playing 2 - 4  more tables might help with this and i wont feel like i have to try and win every hand. I am going to hopefully play a few schedules of tournaments in the run up to the Apat's and probably look at a staking request through Apat as i have no where near enough posts here. I'll be playing 1 dollar rebuys and then mostly 2 to 7 dollar tournys with the "big 11" on stars and dailly double (12 dollars) on FT thrown in across 4 or 5 different sites (Stars, 888, Full Tilt, Party and Ipoker). If anyone can reccomend any tournaments that start between 6 and 9 on a weekday evening that have a lot of value that would be awsome :) As it is got a list of about 30 to 40 tournaments to choose from across the above platforms and then i'm going to highlight a few that i will definitely play and drop others depending how many tables i have running. I really want to try move up the rankings on Pocket fives (i suck atm) and hopefully have a bit of success.

Anyways good luck to everyone at the tables :)

Just back from the Apat worlds, slight losing trip in tournys. Played 6 max, horse and plo, bust six man with ak v a9 on a89 fiop, then bust the horse in 8th out of 40, a final table but no money as only six got paid. Lastly played the Omaha and grinded a short stack pretty much all day long. Got sat next to THE most annoying person i have ever been sat next to that made me want to go home and play online and not play live ever again. Eventually bust in 13th which was a min cash (as was 15th to 11th) but after the dissapointment in the horse tourny a cash in this finally means i should have a Hendon Mob record. Havent really played many tournaments at all that would count towards the Hendon Mob but its finally nice to be off the mark and definately a monkey off my back. Cheers to my mate Pilf for the support and encouragement to get me through the tourny, much love :)

Rest of the month i didn't play a ton but played the micro series on boss. A series of tournaments ( i think 13?) with prizes for the leaderboard at the end of the series. I finished 11th out of 800 or so regulars which got me an extra 80 euro on top of the 500 euro i picked up in prizes for final tabling the 3 dollar rebuy and 5 dollar FO. Got sick unlucky in the FO and maybe a tad lucky in the fo. Was really looking good for some extra money but pretty much bottled the last three tournaments which is really annoying looking back on it now.

Again for the amount ive played its been a decent month but i really expect to pick up the volume this moneth and will probably be playing quite a lot of mtt's across various sites.
