Title: Omaha cash game Live Post by: BangBang on January 06, 2013, 01:56:09 PM Playing a pretty lively 2/5 game with a straddle of £10, average stacks are around £3k and most players are pretty competent regs 7 handed
Sat with £1.5k and on £3.7k my image is pretty tight aggressive and haven’t played many hands. I’m on the button with Ad 7d Ahrt 8h Every player calls £10 Cut off (£7k stack) (Rob K) makes it £100 Now I don’t really want to go multi ways with my hand even though I have position so I think a raise may take it down Me: Raise to £300 SB: Flat calls BB: Folds MP: Calls Cut off: Raises to £600 Knowing the cut offs loose image I think raising here is the best approach Me: Raise to £1.5k Folds round and Cut off calls Flop Aspades 5s 7c Cut off: Checks Me: bet £700 Cut off: Puts me all in Me: Call Obviously Turn is 5c River : 4s Cut off has Ks 2s 3s Kc For the straight flush. Now after the raising I know it couldn’t have played any different but I’ve spoken to a couple of people who all said I should never have 5 bet pre, as my hand is always vulnerable against most holdings post flop plus I have position while disguising the strength of my hand If the hand played differently and I left myself a bigger bet on the turn when the board pairs the Cut off could never have called etc has been the feed back.. Not sure if I over played my hand here.. Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: Skippy on January 06, 2013, 02:05:22 PM You have double suited Aces? That's as good as it gets in Omaha, surely. Get as much in pre as you can.

Yep, my decision was based on the fact that if I were to go 5 ways in this pot my hand was pretty vulnerable but against one person I'm usually good here.. The only issue here is that I left myself so little behind when I know the Cut off is calling most of my raises pre after he already 5 bet, so maybe my bet sizing was off, but as they say hindsight is a great thing... Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: Skippy on January 06, 2013, 02:18:50 PM If you've got £3.7k in front of you, you've 5 bet to £1.5k and he's flatted you, he's making the mistake not you.
Congratulations on finding a great game :-) Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: Honeybadger on January 06, 2013, 03:01:58 PM 50p, right?
Whoever told you that you played the hand badly is wrong. You are also wrong about being worried about taking your hand 5 ways though... your hand plays GREAT in a 5 way pot as well. Double suited Aces plays great vs any number of players, especially when you have vaguely connected side cards, and especially when you are in position. You were still right to 5bet though. Obviously. Whoever Rob K is, he has played his hand really badly preflop (especially given your stated tight image) Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: SuuPRlim on January 06, 2013, 03:36:44 PM 100% put as many bets in pre-flop as you can. like your flop bet-sizing as well.
as for the hand's outcome you're clearly unlucky. Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: BangBang on January 07, 2013, 12:28:49 AM Thanks for the feedback fellas...

Seems pretty bad feedback. Why would you want to bet the guy off on the turn when you have aces full? All looks well played to me. Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: iRaise on January 07, 2013, 12:51:57 AM Is checking the turn making it obvious we have aces full?
Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: BangBang on January 07, 2013, 12:56:31 AM Is checking the turn making it obvious we have aces full? I think the way the action went, I was playing my hand face up pretty much, also on the board I knew there was a strong possibility that the Cut off had KK with a flush draw.. EvilPie - I agree Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: iRaise on January 07, 2013, 12:58:54 AM Is checking the turn making it obvious we have aces full? I think the way the action went, I was playing my hand face up pretty much, also on the board I knew there was a strong possibility that the Cut off had KK with a flush draw.. My thinking.. but in position whats the pros/cons of checking behind given pre flop action? As I said there was a strong possibility that the cut off had KK?? with two spades given him the Nut flush draw, so my options were 1. Bet and get check raised all in as I'm invested and I can see all 5 cards without any decisions on the turn, plus I'm ahead. 2. (a) Check and let a spade hit the turn and let the Cut off put me all in and hope to get lucky on the river. 2. (b) Check let the board pair and then push and put the Cut off to a decision. My thoughts pre flop were that the cut off had one of a few holdings, AA was out or he would have reraised pre, AKJT suited may have been an option of KK?? is the second option, so no matter what he had, there was a high probability that the money was going in (this was my thinking on the flop) If the flop came Jh Tc Ks I would have a decision, hence me trying to get the chips in pre. Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: iRaise on January 07, 2013, 01:13:40 AM Totally agree, just wondering if checking behind the turn is standard/good play? i.e it might let him bluff/spazz out any non spade rivers or even value bet rivers? Or do we just want to keep putting money in until we have non left?

As I took an aggressive line pre flop and my hand is certainly face up it wouldn't make sense to slow play and not bet, it'll be trying to hide an elephant in a room of cats.. So we keep putting in money, as there is no reason to delay the inevitable. Obviously on this occasion I got unlucky. I would bet bet bet but I like checking back although it may well be terrible as it lets villain off. Title: Re: Omaha cash game Live Post by: SuuPRlim on January 07, 2013, 01:10:20 PM I think it's pretty likely on the flop you have top set lol his pre-flop call is not good KK23sss but he has flopped well if I were him i would call your flop bet and get it in on EVERY non pairing turn card
