Title: I have one pair...
Post by: BorntoBubble on January 06, 2013, 09:20:47 PM
Live cash at DTD Last night (Saturday of the 300 deepstack weekend in January 2013!)

1/2 cash been on the table since the start. I sat with 100, after about 3 hours i now have £500. This mostly came from a hand with the villian in this hand where i called every street on a board that read

2,4,7,10,6. No flush draws and i called his £185 on the river with 33 (the pot was about £130 on the river). I know this had tilited him slightly and was trying to play pots with me. He had proved many times that he would not fold pre after he had raised no matter what two cards he had. And when he had AA he tended to bet big. Twice 4 betting all in over a bet less than £100 bet to about £1500! anyway the hand in question.

Straddled to £4 villian makes it £15. I 3 bet to £60 with QQ. (im happy to get it heads up with the villan at this point and i dont think he ever folds. He also will jam with his big hands and i will probably fold although it would be close!

As predicted Villan calls and we go heads up to the flop with me in position. Flop comes 986 rainbow. He checks to me and i make it £75. He raises to £180. What next? i have about £350-£400 behind and he has me covered.

Fold call raise?

Also what do people think to pre flop im sarting to think i could have gone even bigger pre and then bet bigger on flop say £75 pre and £100+ on flop.

For me it comes down to what happens if we call here.

If we call and you think we can get to showdown cheaply (ie. without doing our stack), then call and do so. But this seems unlikely versus villain as described.

Is AK in his range here? If so, we hate a lot of turns. Any Ace, King or 7 is nasty and we probably have to check/fold.

Folding seems crazy, as we are certain it seems that he 4 bets KK and AA pre (unless he is targeting us, has realised he won't get called this way, and is trapping?!)

Raising is probably the standard play (and if so, just jam the lot in obv).

But I really think he has a set here and has raised to induce.

So I fo....................... No I can't do it! I shove in game here, not good enough to fold with this action vs this villain. Plenty of outs if he has 98 anyway!  ;)

986 is WAY better for us than 976 btw

I dont think we can call here. that is we cant call here then fold the river .(because of what is in our stack v what is in the pot) so I guess we stick it in.

Anyone else think a fold is an option here?

im glad noone has come up and gone just fold because i didnt but i did contemplate if i could have got away after the hand. He had flopped the 2nd nut straight :( i shipped he called i even setted up on the river as the set was the hand i feared.

I come to the conclusion that he will get it in here with pairs, draws and draws and pairs. He has a set, two pair and straight some of the time but i think hes more likely to get it in in bad shape! Just wanted to check!

Flop 986

I have QQ he has 75. All the chips are in the middle.

The run out is 2 on the turn and a Q on the river.

Basically before i shipped i thought of the hands he could have that i was beating and the hands he could have i was loosing to.

Hands i was beating> hands i was loosing to.

Therefore i got it in.
