Yeah you should add all the others in there as well.

Then do Sherlock Holmes.

Then Monster Munch.

Craig. I grew up with Roger Moore as my James Bond so Sean Connery was never number 1 for me. Think Daniel Craig has overtaken Roger Moore for me now.

I really enjoyed GoldenEye although maybe the N64 game was the catalyst.

However, hard to justify The World Is Not Enough and the immediately forgettable Die Another Day.

Plus he did Mamma Mia.

Daniel Craig once appeared in Drop the Dead Donkey as a low level villain. Pretty cringeworthy

thats funny because I was just thinking the same. As I kid I loved Roger Moore in things like Moonraker but having watched it recently on sky its just a terrible film.

I am of an age where I watched all of the Bond films as they came into being.

Daniel Craig is the most believable 007 by a long way.

I actually liked George Lazenby's one Bond film and feel that he was under-rated.

I'm not sure if he was quite up there with Sean Connery but above Roger Moore imo.

My favourite is Craig for the rough action he brings but I liked all of them, even Lazenby, for what they brought to the role.
Although watching old Bond movies can be a bit hit and miss as they are never quite as good as you remember.

I thank Jason Bourne for the latest in the Bond franchise as without Bourne I doubt Bond would be as good as it is now.

Very much agree. He was given a bad film.

Also Craig is overrated imo. He is in incred films.

If only the Brosnan/Tarentino things had come off. FML that woulda been Chronicles of ridic.

The latest one will always get a bit more love atm. Same for Sherlock (although I do heart the Cumberbatch)

Would also say Craig's is probably closest to Fleming's Bond (perhaps ironically, as his films aren't specifically based on Fleming's books).

Connery was no actor - he placed in Mr Universe in the 50s - and his Bond was not an acting role any more than Megan Fox or Rosie Huntingdon-Whitely in Transformers. Moore kind of took that on with his English Cad persona.

The modern Bond is a proper acting role and that's why it is pushing for awards now that it was never really close to. Craig isn't a special actor but he is much better than the ones before. I did like Brosnan tho because he took it in a completely different direction, which was needed post-Cold War.

The original Bond producer had to teach Connery how to be a gentleman, took him to london clubs, elocution and deportment lessons etc

Personally I detested the Moore Bond, but part of that would be the scriptwriters upping the comedy quotient to suit his acting persona

Dalton and Brosnan ok and of course Craig brilliant but then again the quality of writing and direction makes him look brilliant

For me, always a Connery fan. A Craig fan too. Can leave the others, and couldn't stand Moore

I disagree about Craig, he's always been a very good actor and played a variety of roles in the indie vain rather than say a formulaic series aka Moore and Brosnan.
There was also plenty of media concern that he wasn't macho enough for the role.

Fortunately, and much like Damon in the Bourne stuff, Craig abso nailed the physical stuff

I met him once in that casino in Barclay Square that was originally fronted by George Raft for the mob before they got thrown out of London.

Karabiner

"To play the lead of Bond, Sean Connery was not Broccoli or Fleming's first choice, but he was selected after Eon had been rejected by Patrick McGoohaand they had rejected both Richard Johnson, After Connery was chosen, Terence Young took the actor to his tailor and hairdresser and introduced him to the high life, restaurants, casinos and women of London. In the words of Bond writer Raymond Benson, Young educated the actor "in the ways of being dapper, witty, and above all, cool"

I'd recommend it.
The episodes them selves were a bit formulaic,
Mystery > Cops state the obvious solution >Sherlock rules it out then goes through two other explanations < arrives at the twist and explains to the perpetrator how he worked it out

Miller got more eccentric and interesting as the series went on, and Lucy Lui surprisingly works OK as Watson.

not mega-telly, but entertaining enough.

Elementary got better as it went on, the last two or three were pretty decent with better stories.  He's still very annoying though, particularly in the first five minutes of each episode. If the Police are as incompetent in real life as they are in the program they'd be fired pretty quickly.

Agreed that it's entertaining, certainly something to watch when there's nothing else on.   Will watch series 2.

Ah.

The rumour was that he would actually be playing Moriarty, so that was cleverly done by the producers:
