Title: 50 Shades of 'grey area'
Post by: david3103 on January 24, 2013, 12:06:19 PM
It was only a matter of time...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-21145816

"A man has been cleared of assault after a court heard he whipped a woman in a "master-slave" sex session inspired by erotic novel Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Steven Lock, 43, and a woman in her 40s, who cannot be named for legal reasons, took part in sado-masochistic role play.

Ipswich Crown Court heard the fantasy went too far as Mr Lock chained the woman up and whipped her with a rope.

But a jury took two hours to clear him of assault causing actual bodily harm.

During the trial, Mr Lock, of Plover Road, Ipswich, was asked by defence counsel Roger Thomson if he and the alleged victim had read Fifty Shades Of Grey by author E L James.

He replied: "That's where we got the idea from."..."

"...She said: "I knew there would be pain involved and I knew I wasn't going to like it but I'd agreed to it and had to follow it through.""

Just told the wife and she lol'd. Will get her to read the article for a woman's perspective.

I don't like the pain thing myself but can't understand why she did not say "red"

I just found it too funny to consider any legal niceties like her anonymity and appreciate the CPS acting as they did if only for the comedy value.

This is nothing new:

Interestingly, in 1993, their Lordships convicted.

This reminds of a friend many years ago who was seeing this girl and one night whilst having a session she begged him to smack her across the face. He was a bit sceptical at first but after many requests he finally succumbed and duly slapped her. "Harder" she yelled, "harder". Tentatively he slapped once a gain with a little more effort. Yet still "harder" came the response. Half a dozen times he slapped her and she was begging for more vigour in his strokes so one last time he whacked her to which the response came back, "not that hard you bastard".
Classy bird.

I remember nearly wetting myself when he told me

That would be the result of Operation Spanner, which was so named because viewing the evidence was thought to make your nuts tighten.
The wiki page on that is enlightening (possibly not the right word) particularly on the topic of whether homosexual sex between consenting adults is treated equally before the law with heterosexual sex. Specifically referencing the case of R. v Slingsby.
Note to the squeamish - do not click this link

edit - the R. v Brown case was before the Sexual Offences Act 2003 which specifically codified the issues of consent

That's right, David.

R v Wilson (1996) is more 50 Shades, I suppose:

If you knew the person involved you'd know it was so true. Without divulging his name other than to say it was prefixed with 'mad'.

Just meant the whole way through reading your post I was awaiting the punchline.
