Title: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: ruud on January 29, 2013, 10:40:50 PM Super 50 last friday - this hand has been bugging me. Feel I completely butchered it and likely got totally outplayed.
Mr Matt Russell (EvilPie?!) was sat at my table, though he hadn't been there long, though clearly knew the villain, and I would appreciate his analysis of the hand. He doesn't know me, but I recognised him. A reminder for you Matt - I am the white rasta. Last hand before the second break (this definitely contributes to the dynamic of the hand). Blinds at 400/800/100. I have about 27k, villain has very similar stack. We have played a couple of hands together, both in the blinds. Once where I raise with K8 and check/call a small bet on flop and river on a AKxxx board, and he has same hand. Other hand I c-bet with 99 and he folds. People seem unwilling to raise our blinds (read into that what you will) and it folds to me in the SB again. At this point, as it is the break (I think), villain picks up his cards and holds them over betting line, looking like he will fold to any bet. I laugh and chuck in 2500, and he quickly calls. Flop Kd Qh 3s check check Turn 7d check check River 7c A wry smile from both of us, and I pick up chips. He again hovers his cards like he will fold. I bet 2700, and he insta raises to 8500. What are we doing with: 1. Qd Tc 2. Aspades Ks 3. 9s 9h 4. Ahrt 7h 5. Jc Jd 6. 5c 5s Also, other than a mess, what does our hand look like to him? Thanks in advance, and please, flame away...... Fold 2. Call/may raise 3. Fold 4. Raise 5. Fold 6. Fold FWIW I would continue flop with every one of those hands, I would also barrell turn with 1 and 2 for sure, maybe others depending on reads Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: EvilPie on January 29, 2013, 11:14:36 PM Link to your hendonmob so I can see who you are?
Might be able to remember the hand and who was sat to your left then. I've got a rough idea but not certain. Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: ruud on January 29, 2013, 11:18:22 PM Hendon Mob?!?! I can only dream!
I am the white guy with dreads, and on my left was a guy whose name sounds like a very famous footballer (or two) I believe Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: ruud on January 29, 2013, 11:39:48 PM Have sent you a PM with extra details mate, as would like opinions of others if possible before a reveal....
Won't be there on Friday as planning to bring the value on Saturday Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: EvilPie on January 29, 2013, 11:45:02 PM Hang on I've got it. Oppo was Ronaldo.
Yeah he muffed you. He does that. Avoid playing against him oop. Just give it up from the SB because he'll always defend and always put you under pressure. Reason I didn't raise his blind much is because I didn't get any value hands and I know he'll defend. He's great for getting thin value out of but not good to bluff or play against with anything marginal. He gets A7 straight back in his eye here. AK is a call although you've butchered it because you should have bet flop and turn and be playing for stacks now. Will have to think a bit more about the others. Look like folds to me. Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: EvilPie on January 29, 2013, 11:53:43 PM His range here is literally any two. Don't try to figure him out because he doesn't even know himself.
I'd be tempted to call with all of them tbh just to see what the hell he's got. Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: MANTIS01 on January 30, 2013, 12:07:56 AM Your hand looks like A-7. chk chk donk with any of the other hands doesn't make sense to me. Villain shud give your bet some credit on account you haven't lead until now. When he did that fake fold thing pre he gave us action so I would only be vbetting A7/AK. With the A7 I would jam it in his fake fold eye.
Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: cambridgealex on January 30, 2013, 12:41:50 AM all the hands on the river are the same except from A7 surely.
folding all except A7 against ronaldo probs. Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: DMorgan on January 30, 2013, 12:54:28 AM reasons for not cbetting?
Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: corkeye on January 30, 2013, 07:19:17 AM C bet the flop all day.

Don't think AK's the same but agree about the others. Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: smashedagain on January 30, 2013, 09:53:12 AM <3 Ronaldo
Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: tight4better on January 30, 2013, 12:48:51 PM His range here is literally any two. Don't try to figure him out because he doesn't even know himself. Yeah this, played against him OOP in a deepstack.. ;frustrated; Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: SuuPRlim on January 30, 2013, 12:53:44 PM 1. Qd Tc 2. Aspades Ks 3. 9s 9h 4. Ahrt 7h 5. Jc Jd 6. 5c 5s 1. Bet Flop/Bet Turn/Check River/Fold now 2. Bet Flop/Bet Turn/no idea - disagree that this is the same as JJ here although agree there's not a huge amount in it 3. Check River/Fold 4. Raise or call, think it's close and call is slightly better 5. Bet Flop/dont bet river/Fold 6. Dont bet river/fold I really hope you didn't have 55, 99 or JJ as that's a really bad river bet (JJ way less so in fact that might even be ok) the only two hands you should bet the river with are AK and A7 and you should 100% have bet the flop (or the turn at the VERY least) with AK Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: ruud on January 31, 2013, 05:07:59 PM Yes I totally butchered this hand.
I had Qd Tc, option 1. I am glad I found a fold on the end, though I am pretty sure I was being bluffed, as he showed the 6d. reasons for not cbetting? Sounds weak I know, but I was thrown by his fake fold thing, and by flopping half a hand, I just thought, "get to showdown cheaply and get out of here" With that in mind, I should just check call the river. In hindsight, knowing I definitely didn't want to play a big pot oop with a marginal hand against a lunatic (apologies Ronaldo), I should have: 1. folded pre, gone on the break and had a stiff drink/got my answers in for Ed's quiz 2. barreled the flop and then shut down when he calls, which I think he would 3. check called a reasonable bet on the river Hoping to play better in the 150k on saturday ::) ;carlocitrone; Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: jgcblack on January 31, 2013, 11:52:45 PM 1. Call
2. Call 3. Fold 4. Call 5. Call 6. Fold I think decent one pair hands will just win this too often, and I don't want to mess around with a silly decision if we raise 4 and get shoved on. Call and win a lot imo. Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: MANTIS01 on February 01, 2013, 12:55:06 AM Villain showing only a 6 means he had like 6-7.
Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: cambridgealex on February 01, 2013, 01:04:51 AM Villain showing only a 6 means he had like 6-7. definitely. you didn't get bluffed and i disagree that you butchered it. think you played it fine, defo ok to check this flop vs ronaldo. Title: Re: Super 50 - outplayed? Post by: SuuPRlim on February 01, 2013, 09:47:54 AM betting the turn is better than better the river, imo. I'd bet the flop but agree with AL checking seems fine (and it seems vs this player even moreso?) but defo wouldnt check turn and wouldn't bet the river I dont think either as he CAN have 7x and weak Kx and QJ, and the only hands we can V-Town now are worse Qx (not many) 88/99/TT/JJ most of which I think he'd 3bet preflop or maybe a ridic stubborn A high but if he's got bluffs in him then on this texture I think c/call is the better play.
