Agreed.

I watched the televised games, & it filled me with pride.

The crowd all singing their hearts out, no abusing the players or the referee, not a policeman in sight (not needed), players not doing the theatrical mock injury thing, & hard as nails, every one of them, jeez those lads are tough, & a wonderful atmo.  Very similar, in many ways, to NFL.

I also watched some football.

I knew, in advance, exactly when the crowd would sing "the referee is a wanker", I knew when players were diving, & doing the mock injury nonsense, I could see the fans baiting each other, & the oh-so-predictable ritual booing, & police or stewards everywhere to pre-empt trouble.

Football is a tremendous game, & well covered on TV, but it (& more especially the players) would do well to heed a few lessons from Rugby Union & NFL.

Fantastic shape TfT is in. Unbelievable standard of rugby on those games. The handling levels were truly excellent in all the rugby i saw. O'Driscoll in the first Irish try showed just how incredible he is.

One of your only posts I dislike strongly. Liking American football more is of course your choice but calling Rugby rubbish is just, sigh.

Was just taking the rise out of Woodsey!

I don't like rugby, any sport where the crowd cheer when the ball is kicked OUT of play needs to take a long, hard look at itself imo.

But everyone is entitled to their own likes and passions, however strange they are :)

I've been at football matches before when people have cheered a ball being kicked out of play.

At Rugby when the ball being kicked out can gain a signifcant positional advantage and often chance of a point scoring attack, why would people not cheer? It's pretty similar to when people cheer at NFL after a play has stopped because one team has gained some yards up the field right?

Really excited about this game, early days but got a feeling it could be the championship decider.  ;danafish;

England deserved it today. Ireland's regularity of errors ruined their flow and any chance of making possession count. England hit harder and made their chances count.

Really enjoyed that game.

Lol bumpaments

When we read stuff back, & give ourselves hindsight, sometimes it does look very odd, & this is a perfect example.

I must say, what a thrill it was to see Wales so full of fire in their bellies yesterday.

Where do England go from here?

Wales had 600 caps in their team yesterday. Mature team with a good structure and real ability. Superb up front. World class back row and real strike potential out wide. Oh and a kicker who won't miss.

England are less experienced and lacking in a couple of key areas. Notably cutting edge in the backs, and lacking a real openside

Robshaw was tremendous yesterday but he was outgunned by Warburton/Tipuric

Would love to see Christian Wade get a go out wide, bin Chris Ashton and pick Twelvetrees over Barritt and play a more expansive game

Because of the iniquities of World Cup seeding, Wales and England are in the same 2015 pool with Australia, two going through...so the target for all is to peak then

In a couple of years England will be better with the maturity to play games like yesterday, and hopefully competing with Wales
