Post by: The Camel on March 10, 2013, 07:30:53 PM
Credit card in hand and brain receptive to new information I'm ready to join a poker training site.

Just pay Marc or someone imo. I think it would be more beneficial for you if your playing mostly live games.

If its for online it really is site dependent and I'm out of touch to some degree but probably leggopoker/iveyleague or Phil Galfonds site.

Galfond is the best.

I will do it the whole lot for 0, I'd suggest I'm know more knowledgeable than everyone posted above in each aspect. I just hate poker and the whole idea of these horrid sites and people involved making money off it so much that I'd call it a charitable donation. Pm me for skype and il go thro hands etc

:)

Dubai is back!

Haven't got skype I'm afraid, but PM me your email address?

Rupert suggested I play the Big 109 for a week, and that would make a good starting point?

Virtually never play cash, lifetime huge loser except in games so soft Tikay could beat them.

Doubt any training site could cure me.

Not really. It's just a standard soft reg fest small comp. Can't imagine many prospective Everest climbers bother jogging up Snowdon

More expensive but without a doubt a higher standard better learning comp IMO

Ok, I'll play a couple, if I do my dough, I'll drop down to 50r for the next 3.

Thanks for the offer.

Some people just like climbing mountains, so they climb all kinds of different mountains.

Big 109 got 3100 runners today with $50k for first!

yeah this pretty much, RIO is pricey but worth it. If you play PLO at all then I would go with it for sure.

Pocketfive training used to have some good stuff on it as well for Mtts.

Just don't get sucked into buying TPE cos it's cheap, you get what you pay for with that one

My all time favourite training site is Deuces Cracked. I really like their production values and the way they present their videos and put them in series etc.

But they are pretty light on MTTs...

Just my opinion of course, but I dont want to watch a instructional video where the main aim of the lead video producer is to see how many times he can say 'stuffy baker' in a video or some other little catchphrase he has.

I am sure they have some good video producers on there somewhere, but I have watched videos by 8 of the 'coaches' there and found very little of value. Mainly seems to be narration of the action or very limited analysis on any hand played.

I did see one video by darly jace that I think was probably good content, but it was so boring I literally fell asleep watching it. Just my view but, an instructional video doesn't have to be a dry monotone monolgue. The viewer needs some level of entertainment/engagement whilst watching it.

I would also level the same at a couple of the Run it once video producers, but they make up for it by having some great content as well and I also noticed the few instructors that were like this have not made any more videos since their opening ones.

I would also agree with what the above poster said about DC, it's a great site well produced material and most of it is good quality, just MTT content is pretty light. For mix games its really good as well

Cheers for the detailed response. I was looking at this site recently an thought it looked pretty cheap yet with videos by daryl jace an bigdogpkt5s an also seems to get plugged on other forums quite a lot. The sample I watched was just as you say though, narration not analysis so yeh maybe not as good as it seems

Watch some of his videos Keith and you will see things are not too bad.

I had a subscription to bluefire until Galfond left.

Quite liked some of the mtt stuff on there, and found the turbos vids good for playing shallow.

Runitonce is Galfonds new site.

Would probs try that one then.

Guy has such a lucid way of explaining things, obv mainly useful for cash but i also think u can just learn a great deal about the game from the guy period, thus relevant to all forms of poker.

Good luck with this Keith mate. :)

I had a subscription to deuces cracked but cancelled just over a year ago. Very decent community, everyones really helpful with hardly any trolls, videos were good, well produced but as already stated the MTT/Sng content is significantly lower than cash game content. Its the nuts for cash games. Loads of videos. It was great when Vanessa did some tournament vids though a couple of years ago, really amazing her thought process was really thorough and easy to understand for noobs like me.

Also they have the eight fold patch to poker enlightenment which is an interesting series on the mental game.

What site did u coach on in the past?? SNG's or MTT's wasn't it?

For a short time I was a coach for a staking/training site (SNG Protege) I covered small stakes MTTs for the site. They have a few videos but mainly the site was aimed at 1-1 coaching.

Im gonna sign up for a training site and wondered if anyone could help pls?

I mainly play cash PLO 25c/50c - $1/2, the odd $20-$50 tourney and little bit .50/£1 cash live.

I was gonna try DC and maybe use the 7 day free trial offer and after that try RIO for a month.

-Is RIO really worth the $99.99 mth?
   - can anyone rec videos to watch first to get the most out of the free 7 days at DC as i'll prob be only able to watch 5-10hrs max in the 7 day period
   - are any of the smaller sites worth bothering with? i read bad things about the one Tony G's pokernews took over not releasing any content, no refunds for cancellations etc

If you're a premium member of DC you can just download a bunch of videos and watch later.

I downloaded a bunch of Stud, O8 and mixed game videos to learn those when I was a member. Just as well you can do the above, because I haven't even worked my way through that many yet!
