Title: pc desktop problem disk drive not working/responding windows 7 Post by: horseplayer on March 21, 2013, 10:47:58 AM hi all appreciate any help with this
Have realised this morning my d drive (dvd disk drive) is not responding/working. The drive shows in my computer and i can hear the drive working/responding when i put a cd/dvd in it. However the content does not autoplay. I have done a lot of googling and a few sources suggest the solution suggested in this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lnQc8viCeI This as well as a lot of places suggest deleting upper filters and lower filters in the registry , ok i have tried this but in the suggested file i do not have upper or lower filters showing at all which i fear is the problem. I have run a mailware programme (nothing) and run ccleaner regularly Everything else on the system seems ok Thanks for any help Title: Re: pc desktop problem disk drive not working/responding windows 7 Post by: horseplayer on March 21, 2013, 10:57:00 AM the exact error when i click on the drive in my computer is

have you tried a different disc? prob just the disc drive faulty...not reading discs etc.. the system sees it as a drive but the actual drive cannot read the discs Title: Re: pc desktop problem disk drive not working/responding windows 7 Post by: horseplayer on March 21, 2013, 01:42:03 PM how old is the drive ? have you tried a different disc? prob just the disc drive faulty...not reading discs etc.. the system sees it as a drive but the actual drive cannot read the discs thanks for replying the whole system is only max 16 months old the drive has barely been used tbh which makes me wonder how it could have broken but i guess its possible I have just ordered an external drive for 20 odd quid seems easier than spending the rest of the day trying to sort this Title: Re: pc desktop problem disk drive not working/responding windows 7 Post by: the sicilian on March 21, 2013, 01:53:30 PM how old is the drive ? have you tried a different disc? prob just the disc drive faulty...not reading discs etc.. the system sees it as a drive but the actual drive cannot read the discs thanks for replying the whole system is only max 16 months old the drive has barely been used tbh which makes me wonder how it could have broken but i guess its possible I have just ordered an external drive for 20 odd quid seems easier than spending the rest of the day trying to sort this No probs..obv things can go faulty at any time...but essentially the problem is not that your computer is not recognising the hardware but the drive is not reading the media i.e. the disc |
