You got married in Vegas recently, yes? What a thing! I must apologise over the latte incident, I'm really rather embarrassed about that, & will make it up to you when opportunity arises. * * Aspers Stratford is an extraordinary Casino, very Vegas, & not, in truth, to my personal taste, but the Cardroom is wonderfully spacious, I think they had 20 cash games on the go on Saturday night, good buzz & vibes, lovely. Certainly not complaining, nothing is perfect & it is no big deal, but valet service was really rather sparse to non-existent. With my diet meaning I never eat "out", especially in casinos, I was doing 14 hour shifts without food & getting by on endless lattes. Dave would pop over every hour or so, "another latte?" sorta thing, "yes please", I swear he must have fetched me 10 of them. On Sunday, I actually, at last, found a valet, & she fetched me a latte, & to my shock, asked for £2.50. I asumed they were free! I asked her to put it on the Sky Poker tab, no prob, but then the penny dropped, & I realised you had been paying for my drinks all weekend. Honestly, I was so embarrassed, & it was typical of you that you refused to accept payment from me. The complete opposite to Flushy, who polled up to me & said "give me £100, Dubai wants a drink". I never got a penny change, but I think I may have got off lightly actually. He ran good with his seat draw on Saturday though, sandwiched by Gav, Stapes, & Mclean Karr, who was being regularly attended to by Tattytats. Title: Re: skypoker stratford Post by: AndrewT on March 25, 2013, 12:59:02 PM Yep, very first hand on Day 2 - I'd barely taken my coat off. If only that had been the last hand on day 1 I'd either have come back with a decent stack or could have had a lie in.
I think you'll find Tatjana kept making excuses to talk to Mclean so she could get sneaky peeks at me. That was a fun table - Stapes and Mclean are good at the banter. Interesting you mentioned the lack of valets Tikay - was something I noticed as well and I think it's just a function of how busy the whole casino was. I've never seen a UK casino that busy - even getting a drink at the bar was a challenge. I've never seen a UK casino that busy - even getting a drink at the bar was a challenge. Honestly, I have never seen a Casino in the UK as busy as that, it absolutely heaved on Saturday night, people could not throw money at the House Games fast enough. The fixed costs of that place must be huge, but they are having a good go at making it pay. The staff were well-trained in people skills, too, lots of smiley stuff, but they could use a lot more valets, and if drinks are as expensive as lattes are, the extra staff would pay for themselves with plenty left over. GREAT WEEKEND Title: Re: skypoker stratford Post by: AndrewT on March 25, 2013, 01:11:22 PM It gets huge footfall from people drifting in (I couldn't believe how many were playing slots at noon on a Sunday) plus seems to be a destination place for people in East London of a weekend.
Just goes to show how location is key - I saw that the Alea in Leeds is/has closed as it was stuck in that new development that no one goes to. I was effectively between the cardboard cutout of Miss Pasalic and the real thing for a sizeable portion of the evening. A heck of a rollcall on display that day. Fab timing by Sky and those concerned. |
