Title: HOT $33 turbo SAT $6.60 24SEATS
Post by: Oxford_HRV on March 23, 2013, 02:46:38 PM
usual day to day scenario

110 players left

AVG: 18BBS we got 16 of them

we get dealt  Ahrt Qd in the small

UTG+1 goes all in for 5bb

HJ isolates all in for 29bb

are we usually flippin/crushing/crushed here?
~ is the majority calling or folding

Kinda depends on what stacks he's shoving into. Highly doubt I'm folding though.

Given this is a satellite, how much does this change our strategy here/make the call closer, as underpairs to our hand are a high part of the re-shovers range here? Perhaps better spots to make a move ourselves with 16 bb's left, given he has us covered? I admit I think I'm rarely finding the fold button myself here(!), but from a satellite 'survival' strategy point of view is it correct play with 15-20 bb's?

This is a snap fold I think

The fact that this is a satellite doesnt really alter it for me here, we are way off the places and need to get chips

All the stack sizes would help, but without any reads I'm calling here although I do think its sorta close.

We're a long way short of the seats but calling a reshove from someone who covers us seems optimistic to me.

Would reshove this myself in HJ though

everyone was circa avg, 12/20bb. BB was playing 7bb but that was about it off the top of my head.

seems after a little review its still close on call/fold

really i felt the same as dwayne110 that he would have 66+ at 75/80%ish of the time..

i really think it might be personal decision here on if we keep grinding, or is 16bbs ok to risk in here to win just about 40bb total

i decided we still want chips and it looked like we could scoop a huge pot, so clicked call and the guy flipped KK and held.

excluding the result this time it still looks really flippy to me on call/fold. next time i may opt to fold. ty guys

If utgs jamming say 40% then to call here with AQ you need hj to be jamming 55+, ATos, A9s.

If they're both competent then it's a really easy rejam as utg should be jamming wider thus so will hj be.

Never played these low stakes sats but would assume std is pretty bad so it's bordering on a fold but it's really close and in game I'd probs have jammed.

Optimistic to expect two competent people in a $5 sat.  I think it is a fold in a sat and not going to worry about it too much.  Would shove this in the hijack but first mover so important in sats.

If they're incompetent they probs get it in even wider, ergo more of a shove

Ye obv, thought hero itt would find the info interesting for future reference if he was to find himself in a similar spot in a different comp.

Would be beyond terrible to fold AQ in hj here.

I think it's close because if we are assuming hj isn't competent then I'd say there's a fairly high % of the time were he's guna flat AA/KK and if we take this out of his range and say he's jamming 77-QQ AJ+ ATs+ then AQ is a call.

I disagree, the fact utg has only 5bbs in the 1st place, unless we have unknown info that he's just lost a decent pot then he's probs too nitty. Don't think randoms in hj are more likely to be rejamming wide here in a sat.

I assume bad players shove too tight as a rule.  They call wide but 3 bets are usually much tighter.  Think he would have to have pleno stats for me to call with 24 seats.

I would call if it was a one seat sat.

I'd say unknowns in general normally jam too tight and don't call jams wide enough. Obv we shouldn't just assume everyone in this sat is incompetent or bad, but it's probably fair to say most of the field won't be playing optimally.

say we give villain 1 the following range - 22+,A2s+,K5s+,Q7s+,J8s+,T8s+,98s,A5o+,K9o+,Q9o+,J9o+,T9o
and villain 2 - 77+,ATs+,KTs+,ATo+

I think this is erring on the tight side tbh. Please correct me if I'm way off?

We are 34% against these ranges (assuming the BB folds)

Pot - 24bb
Our stack - 16bb

So we have to call 16bb to win 24bb - 1.5-1 so we need to win 40% of the time to break even

(assume bb is 100 for ease on my maths)
(0.31 x 2400) - (0.69 x 1600) = 816 - 1104 = -288 = -2.8bb

-EV shove
so I changed my mind... Fold
