Title: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: The Camel on March 24, 2013, 08:02:06 PM Fairly good chance I will be in Nottingham next Saturday night with nothing to do.
DTD calendar says there is an APAT tournament Day 1a on that night. Is that all there will be? If no other tournaments, roughly what time will the cash games start? Thanks. Title: Re: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: julian on March 25, 2013, 11:17:47 AM cash games?
pretty sure they'll be queuing up once word gets about.... Title: Re: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: DaveShoelace on March 25, 2013, 11:20:50 AM You lucky lucky man Keith, if you can't get in the tournament, they are actually having the APAT Awards at DTD on Saturday. Maybe they'd let you present one.
Title: Re: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: Karabiner on March 25, 2013, 11:43:42 AM I'm playing that APAT day one which has a 2pm start on Saturday Keith.
I'd say there's a very good chance that I'll be available for dinner. The cash-games should be especially decent this weekend too. Title: Re: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: kinboshi on March 25, 2013, 06:27:46 PM I'll be there for cash games, and there is also the chance to get into some of the APAT events on the day (if you're there early enough). Should be a good atmosphere at the club.

Title: Re: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: DesD on March 27, 2013, 12:22:50 AM If you want to try something a bit different Keith, we have a Saturday night special on the menu...
APAT WCOAP Cash Championship The event is run over two timed phases and the key features are as follows:- Phase One: - The first phase will run over several tables for a three hour period. - Players must buy in for £100 + a one off 10% fee. - Players will be able to have one optional rebuy of £100 if they lose their entire first stack. Their will be no fee on their rebuy. - Players will be assigned a table and seat number as in tournament play. - Blinds will be static at 50p / £1 in the first phase. - Players can opt to leave with the cash in front of them. However, once they have exited, they cannot buy back in. - There will be no alternates or late buy ins. - Tables are balanced following exits as a tournament would be. - At the end of the first phase, the leading eight cash stacks are carried forward to the final table. - The game is over for the remaining players and they keep whatever cash is left in front of them. Phase Two:- - The final phase will run over three hours. - The blinds will increase to £1 / £2. - Players will draw for seat position. - If players have not used their single rebuy, they can choose to add it to their stack before play recommences in phase two. - Players can again choose to leave the final table at any point with the cash in front of them. - The player who is either the last standing, or has the largest stack left after the three hour phase two period will be the event winner. There's a bangle for the winner too, just not this particular one. Would it be too much to expect/hope for that after you've paid the entry fee the games will be rake free? What does a player do if sat with £300, a decent return on your £110, but he's sat outside the top 8 stacks with ten minutes left in Title: Re: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: Junior Senior on March 27, 2013, 10:59:12 PM One other thing on the cash championship, when we get down to phase two, we'll be streaming play live with commentary from Tighty and guests, until we award the bracelet. Basically not tour regs., sponsored pros, or previous DTD deepstack winners ;) Title: Re: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: kinboshi on March 28, 2013, 01:51:04 PM When APAT first started there weren't any well-run big comps for the relatively small buy-ins, with the added value that APAT offered. Although there are now lots of 'deepstack' comps being offered at the lower buy-ins and there's no 'need' to travel to play such comps, APAT is still doing well and a lot of that is due to the community aspect of it. It's been the blueprint for others to follow, the Sky Poker Tour is definitely one.

Largely this excludes full time pros who make their sole income from playing Dave. In truths there is rarely a problem due to the size of the prize pools APAT events offer. We do ALS offer open events like the Cash Championship for example. Title: Re: DTD next Saturday (30 March) Post by: DaveShoelace on March 28, 2013, 03:13:38 PM Out of interest Des, have you ever had to refuse/ban/tell someone off for pretending not to be a pro and playing?
APAT has always been a really good natured community focussed type of tour, so I presume you don't worry too much about that. APAT has always been a really good natured community focussed type of tour, so I presume you don't worry too much about that. It has come up previously. But like Des said, the prize pool isn't really appealing to a pro who wouldn't get out of bed for the 1st prize. Think it might have been a bit different in the first season though with some amazing added value to the prize pools. APAT has always been a really good natured community focussed type of tour, so I presume you don't worry too much about that. It's largely self policed, but once or twice we've had questions asked about certain players and had a friendly discussion with them. On the two or three examples that this has happened the players have always had a good justification for playing. That would have been true in S1 also when the payout structure was very top heavy and a player would have had to win an event to have paid for their weekend. Sorry I left the final early, but a. I was really tired (and rather emotional after the delights of a free bar at the City Ground all afternoon) b. The players in the final were really good c. I had already endured 4 hours longer than my usual tolerance level for cash games. |
