Title: Coming home to Nottingham
Post by: Peter Costa on January 20, 2006, 08:03:36 AM
Oh how I miss the Gala, the tournies and the cash
The screams that bellow across the room - REBUY FOR ASH
The bantter from the locals, the fun and talk of trash
But nothing can compare when it's there's a REBUY FOR ASH

To see my Chilie Pepper who's now better than her Dad
Spanking all the boys, theres' so much fun there to be had
I just hope my plane arrives safely, oh God dont make it crash
I cannot leave this world behind - without hearing one more time...
REBUY FOR ASH

Anyway all, I get to UK Wed,  so Thursday tournie has already been allocted - however, I hear that 2nd place is still very good!

PS, If anyone want $$$ at spot price  - please let me know.

final table somebody folded aces to person in same village, the dealer saw the cards, and uproar happened but
it only happened after the tourney had ended

should have been pointed out earlier , but not sure what the Gala will do about it.  Loads of people say he should be barred for 3 months etc etc

Just out of curiosity - is there no chance that this was a good (or even bad) strategic move ?

For example if there's 4 left and the short stack moves in, it may not be in the chip-leader's interest to take him out - especially if the other 2 are just hanging about to lock-up 3rd place money..

(Just looking for the good in people - you know ?)

P.S. Welcome back Mr Costa  :)

Hi Greg - how are things? Looks like I will miss Thursday so the "dead" money will be on Friday and Sunday.

For those who don't know this Ash fella - he and I go back many years
In fact, I can't count the times - that I had the guy in tears.
He simply hates it when I win - and knows just how much I cash
So when my accountant asks me questions - I tell him to phone Ash

We also often play Backgammon - cos he knows I'm rather crap
It's like he holds top set and flush draw - while I just hold a wrap
But it seems that I always get there - which is really very harsh
But what do yous seriously expect - when your name rhymes with trash

Seriously though, Ash tends to be one of the best players at the club and does very well. But he does hate it when I come home. Last time...you can imagine how sick he was when I kept taking down the tournies. In fact, before I left ...he asked for confirmation as to how much I won during my stay - I asked him if my accountant had called him....

This 'same village" business can really stir it up sometimes. In my earlier days in Nottingham - I had to stop going there at one stage because some of my friends became offended when I got involved in a pot with them. I appreciate that it's very diffciult to play against friends - however, there's not much choice if you are trying to play "proper" poker. I recall that one Sunday in a big one - the final consisted of myself and five family members - it was my worst nightmare. In the end, I just asked them all to play the game without any "funny stuff" and good luck to the winner. But I tell you what - couldn't handle that every week!
