I have early news too - Ram Vaswani is already up to 18,000, at the expense of James Vogl - Ram limped in early position, James raised with AQ, Ram smooth called. The flop came: Q 3 7, two diamonds one spade.  Ram checks, James bets the pot (c. 400), call.  Turn:  5s.  Ram checks, James bets 1,000 - gets raised to 3,000....James eventually calls.
River:  Ahrt

Then Ram bet 4k and received a call - showing  4s 6s!  That, I believe, is a gutshot...

However James, down to 1,500 doubled up soon thereafter in one of those limping with Aces pots - Aggressive Scandie with AJ decided to take him on for the lot and doubles him back up.

(Correction to previous giant pot hand vs Ram - James had been the preflop raiser with his AQ, which seems perfectly natural...)

Thinking about it, Tikay would have been out by now, so this is probably a last longer strategy by DC

Hi Dubai - just for you ,this pic of Mr. de Wolfe looking cool in his exta dark shades, sat next to Mark Teltscher (remember him from the Vic EPT?).
He just made a suspicious button raise to 350 (blinds 50 -100) and the blinds complained before folding, to be rewarded with a snapshot of  Kd Kh...

Helppi comments that De Wolfe always wins the coin flips.

This is our new view from nice comfy hotel no.2.  It has about 100 floors and despite being the largest hotel in Denmark managed to be full when we arrived.  Now it's packed with poker players, but they tend to stay in the card room until it chucks them out; sit'n'gos are already kicking off in the corner.

There was a bit of a kafuffle earlier and I was able to witness Thomas Kremser in action.

Farzad Heyati threw in a chip and either declared 'raise' as it was in flight or after it had landed.

Marcel Luske was on the big blind and was claiming that the action should be a flat call.

Big K was briskly brought in to action and, after a dead-end discussion, decided to force the young guy into just calling.

Luske was adament, whilst the young Heyati was rather more hesitant, which probably worked against him.

We're just about to start our big chip counting spree, so bear with us for a few minutes (also been declined food by the bar so had to go get a club sandwich).  Only one table down so far, so we should still be pretty accurate...

Errrr not the best day of my life.
My flight was delayed an hour, then another hour, and then another. When we boarded we weren't allowed a slot, and when we landed they werent ready for us.
So eventually I arrived 1hr 45 mins late. But I wasn't phased. i was an hour late on day 2 when I won £100,000 at the Vic and I recall a certain scandanavian arriving 5 hours late for the Baden EPT and coming back to win it.

So I sit there and pass for half an hour, and then call a raise from my SB with  Aspades Ts. The flop comes two spades and I check raise my opponent who passes. So I am now back to 10,500
the very next hand I pick up Queens on the button. Luca makes it 500 and he gets a caller, so I decide to over raise and make it 3000. I'm hoping one of them think I'm at it (as I have just made a move the previous hand).
Unfortunately Luca thinks for a minute with his KK and moves all-in. I had set myself up for this, so felt I had to call. No getting lucky exit stage right after about 40 mins play

One nice element to this main event is that when someone is eliminated, the table applauds. It's often very half hearted, but still a nice gesture. IT's something I'd like to see return to poker. Reminds me of those Late Night Poker episodes I used to watch so frequently.

Mr Turhapuro - Patrik Antonius was not on either day one starting list.  So we reckon he's not playing, although someone said there was a standby list of 100 people... not that they're getting in either.

Frode Fagerli raised from early position (blinds 75 150) to 325ish, called by four players including Joe Hachem and Morten
Flop  5s 9d 7s.  Frode bet 500, called by Brandon Samson, raised to 1,800 by Morten, then Hachem dwelled for 2 minutes before re-raising to 4,500 - Frode called, Brandon folded and Morten pushed all-in for a further 9k!  So big pot...
Joe thinks (again, for longer) - mutters about passing under protest (with only 5k behind) and does so, but Frode calls with  7d 7h, and finds Morten on  8h 6h!

So that was a 34,000 pot for Morten Jensen.

The only news I can bring you from the dinner break is that we didn't exactly get one... apparently the buffet we so enjoyed for free yesterday now has a 235 krone price tag and the inconsistency has rather shaken old Snoopy who usually thinks of little else but food.  So we're stealing fruit sweets from a big jar on the counter behind us.  Just a few, mind.

Crikey while I've been off struggling to get the pictures without most of them being of the large metal lampshades, I could feel my ears burning... they're quite hot at any rate.  At least you don't put me at over 900 years old like some I could mention..rather 16 than centuries.  And Snoopy, stop stirring.  There are plenty of people who can vouch for my play being, at times, something resembling shocking.

Incidentally, Marcel doesn't hold any of the highest denomination chips. Yellow chips are worth 1k, but his stack is entirely made up of 25s, 100s, and s single 500.

This is mainly because that Marcel continually refuses to give his opponents change. I think he likes to have a big stack in front of him, even its made up of lesser valued chips.

Perhaps he wants to try and scare people off or enhance his table image?

I have to just say that the totty chippy count was at no point anything to do with me.  And all the ladies but that one have vanished in the last two hours so I reckon he's got an easy job of it.

On the TV table, Claus Hrouda-Rasmussen (glad I'm not announcing) just doubled up with quad aces.  I think his opponent held nines to his AA and both sets hit the flop, but it was all most definitely over when the fourth Ace came on the turn.  Bet that gets on TV.

Well, I'm not wearing hat, but if I was, I'd make sure it was made out of something edible incase I had to eat it.

When I went into the tournament area a couple of minutes ago, there were 67 players remaining.  Now there are 63.  They are literally flying out of there.  Last night they got down to 50, I reckon today there will be even fewer progressing to tomorrow's Day Two.  The only person I saw emerging from one of those polite rounds of applause was Jonas Molander who just shrugged a bit.  The fast drop out rate has led to Ram Vaswani's table, recently released from the TV area to be broken up.  Just before they all left I got a few counts:

I think I failed to post these from about 20 mins ago - they may be slightly out of date but Hachem was the only casualty in this most recent segment that I am aware of...    Only 15 minutes to go until they break for the night.  There are various rumours circulating that they are going to play down to the final, or to the final 18 tomorrow, but either way it will be a long day.

1) Great reporting guys! I live near the hotel and went to watch some of the action today. I don't blame you if you find the service at the hotel terrible (I know I do), and being Danish I'm not particularly proud of that.

I've managed to survive the day with 22k.  Got up to 18k early (set of twos vs flopped str8- board paired the turn) and tried to "play a bit" like Ironside which resulted in "variance" - so I moved back into siege mentality eventuallly won a race and a couple of over the top allins built my stack up a bit.  Tony Chessa still in with low 30k+, above average and could have finished off the day better.

Anything can happen tomorrow.
