I spotted Marcel Luske signing in for the tournament about five minutes before it started, and Joe Hachem being interviewed repeatedly (yesterday). I also feel obliged to mention Luca Pagano's shoes in honour of the absent Tikay... Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: snoopy1239 on January 20, 2006, 03:15:45 PM I can confirm that seated on El Blondie's table is former Swedish International Thomas Brolin.
More worringly, there is no sign of Dave yet. Either he's slept in or he's intends to be fashionably late. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: snoopy1239 on January 20, 2006, 03:18:03 PM Some names you may recognise:

Not sure how he managed it though with blinds at 25/50 and a 10k starting stack. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 20, 2006, 03:22:20 PM Hey snoops, when we gonna see this famous beard of Hachem's then? :D

I sense danger dungeoneers... Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Djinn on January 20, 2006, 03:25:37 PM Morning danafish - always a pleasure!
I have early news too - Ram Vaswani is already up to 18,000, at the expense of James Vogl - Ram limped in early position, James raised with AQ, Ram smooth called. The flop came: Q 3 7, two diamonds one spade. Ram checks, James bets the pot (c. 400), call. Turn: 5s. Ram checks, James bets 1,000 - gets raised to 3,000....James eventually calls. River: Ahrt Then Ram bet 4k and received a call - showing 4s 6s! That, I believe, is a gutshot... However James, down to 1,500 doubled up soon thereafter in one of those limping with Aces pots - Aggressive Scandie with AJ decided to take him on for the lot and doubles him back up. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Djinn on January 20, 2006, 03:29:28 PM Ah, Hachem... he's on the feature table at the moment (the cameras are rolling) so we'll have to wait for that pic until they rotate him off of there.

Check out the lineup for his table - I reckon there will be plenty of action there.

Luca Pagano raised preflop with Kd Ahrt Brolin called with Qc Td Flop = Ks 8h Jc Both checked. Turn = Aspades Brolin checkraised. Pagano smooth called. River = Ad All the chips went in, Brolin was sent packing. I get the feeling that not too many of you guys will be upset about this report. I just wanted to point out that there are more than two ladies playing today - I count five I think which is not a bad turnout for the girls. **********NB************ We are still looking for the top blondie - Mr Colclough is yet to appear! Snoops is off to call his room from the lobby but if anyone knows if he's missed a flight/train/boat somewhere please let us know! Still, I reckon a couple of rounds won't hurt him. Bit of a chubbster really. But then again, I am only comparing him to myself. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Longy on January 20, 2006, 03:49:17 PM Oh well thats about 1/4 of the weeks wages he was taking off Leeds and Palace when he was over here. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: edy g on January 20, 2006, 04:00:07 PM dc is running late but will be there soon.
Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Djinn on January 20, 2006, 04:01:21 PM So, James Vogl OUT - He was in the big blind with 2,500. Mad Scandie raises to 300, James ( 7c 7h) calls. The flop brings 4s 6c 8d.
Check from James, bet of 400, push for the remaining 2,200 - CALL - his opponent shows Qh 8s. No straightening occurs and no seven pops out either so he's the third, I believe, to exit from Day 1B. (Correction to previous giant pot hand vs Ram - James had been the preflop raiser with his AQ, which seems perfectly natural...) Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Dewi_cool on January 20, 2006, 04:03:16 PM dc is running late but will be there soon. Thinking about it, Tikay would have been out by now, so this is probably a last longer strategy by DC Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: snoopy1239 on January 20, 2006, 04:05:16 PM Dave Colclough is going steady on 9.375k

Christer Johansson = 6.1k Martin Wendt = 2k Juha Helppi = 4.2k Smokin' Steve Vladar = 10k Marcel Luske = 9.5k Blinds are now 50/100 with 20 minutes left at this level. 139 players remaining. Table 9. Frej Rutenskold raises to 400 preflop. Roland de Wolfe moves all-in for 4.575k Rutenskold calls and turns over Ad Kd. De Wolfe flips Qc Qs. Flop = Td 3h 7h The dealer turns the cards in slow-motion. Turn - 7s Another slow turn-over. De Wolfe bends down to catch first sight of the card. River = 3c De Wolfe doubles through and now has 10.275k Helppi comments that De Wolfe always wins the coin flips. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Djinn on January 20, 2006, 05:20:55 PM This is about the best shot I could get of the feature table including Guest Announcer Ron MadYank Fanelli who I think somehow spotted me in the crowd taking this picture... Hachem has his back to the cardroom so no good photo of him yet. But there will be.

I think Vladar's bluffing. I can see it in his eyes. It has about 100 floors and despite being the largest hotel in Denmark managed to be full when we arrived. Now it's packed with poker players, but they tend to stay in the card room until it chucks them out; sit'n'gos are already kicking off in the corner.

Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: snoopy1239 on January 20, 2006, 05:50:19 PM There was a bit of a kafuffle earlier and I was able to witness Thomas Kremser in action.
Farzad Heyati threw in a chip and either declared 'raise' as it was in flight or after it had landed. Marcel Luske was on the big blind and was claiming that the action should be a flat call. Big K was briskly brought in to action and, after a dead-end discussion, decided to force the young guy into just calling. Luske was adament, whilst the young Heyati was rather more hesitant, which probably worked against him. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: elblondie on January 20, 2006, 05:55:44 PM Errrr not the best day of my life.
My flight was delayed an hour, then another hour, and then another. When we boarded we weren't allowed a slot, and when we landed they werent ready for us. So eventually I arrived 1hr 45 mins late. But I wasn't phased. i was an hour late on day 2 when I won £100,000 at the Vic and I recall a certain scandanavian arriving 5 hours late for the Baden EPT and coming back to win it. So I sit there and pass for half an hour, and then call a raise from my SB with Aspades Ts. The flop comes two spades and I check raise my opponent who passes. So I am now back to 10,500 the very next hand I pick up Queens on the button. Luca makes it 500 and he gets a caller, so I decide to over raise and make it 3000. I'm hoping one of them think I'm at it (as I have just made a move the previous hand). Unfortunately Luca thinks for a minute with his KK and moves all-in. I had set myself up for this, so felt I had to call. No getting lucky exit stage right after about 40 mins play :blonde: Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: ariston on January 20, 2006, 05:57:12 PM u spoke to rob chubbs? tough beat that one by the looks

Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: snoopy1239 on January 20, 2006, 06:00:36 PM One nice element to this main event is that when someone is eliminated, the table applauds. It's often very half hearted, but still a nice gesture. IT's something I'd like to see return to poker. Reminds me of those Late Night Poker episodes I used to watch so frequently.

Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Djinn on January 20, 2006, 06:53:54 PM News fresh from the Feature Table Courtesy of their Announcer, Ron Fanelli:
Frode Fagerli raised from early position (blinds 75 150) to 325ish, called by four players including Joe Hachem and Morten Flop 5s 9d 7s. Frode bet 500, called by Brandon Samson, raised to 1,800 by Morten, then Hachem dwelled for 2 minutes before re-raising to 4,500 - Frode called, Brandon folded and Morten pushed all-in for a further 9k! So big pot... Joe thinks (again, for longer) - mutters about passing under protest (with only 5k behind) and does so, but Frode calls with 7d 7h, and finds Morten on 8h 6h! Turn 2s River Qs So Joe mutters about how his pass involved both top 2 and the nine of Spades! So that was a 34,000 pot for Morten Jensen. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Djinn on January 20, 2006, 06:56:51 PM Later on the feature table... Joe Hachem has built back from 5k to 17k, apparently mainly from taking pot after pot from Korte Yeo.

Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: snoopy1239 on January 20, 2006, 09:32:56 PM Marcel Luske is struggling along with just over 10k.
He has a massive stack, though unfotunately it mainly consists of the low denomination chips. Guess that's a sign of a constant blind stealer. He's looking slightly bedraggled at the moment, but still in jovial mood. Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: snoopy1239 on January 20, 2006, 09:38:10 PM Anthony Chessa is on about 33k.

There are plenty of people who can vouch for my play being, at times, something resembling shocking.
Here's a much better picture..of Joe Hachem! Not the right angle for the full pointy beard thing (he looks a bit like a pirate) but here we go...and here's your white hat wearer too. On the TV table, Claus Hrouda-Rasmussen (glad I'm not announcing) just doubled up with quad aces. 1) Great reporting guys! I live near the hotel and went to watch some of the action today. I don't blame you if you find the service at the hotel terrible (I know I do), and being Danish I'm not particularly proud of that. 2) I don't know if it's ok to post links on this site, but if you go to http://www.infocast.dk/berlingske/mediamaker.php?id=1959&category=192 you'll see an interview with ms. Gundesen. In Danish, though... But I can tell you she's 29 years old, law student, qualified via 13$ rebuy-tournament. I don't know her, and I'm not affiliated with the site providing the interview. There's also links to a interviews with Moneymaker (Poker:Moneymaker taler ud) and Joe Hachem (Verdensmesteren i poker er i Køben...) Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: Djinn on January 21, 2006, 01:41:56 AM Hi SirKraggen! Thanks for breaking your silence... we saw a lot of interviews taking place right in our office/corridor over the last two days and wondered what was going on... We'll be here (either in the press room or behind the second pillar in the hallway (very pro)) tomorrow, and of course for the final so if you have any other interesting info we'd be glad to hear it. Welcome to blonde.

Title: Re: EPT COPENHAGEN - MAIN EVENT - DAY 1B Post by: doubleup on January 21, 2006, 02:02:47 AM Doubleup (David McGeachie) = 13.875k you cant be right that means he has played a pot he only played 2 last weekend one of them was an attempt ot play me off a pot and the other was his all in raise 5 hours into the comp BLIND :D :D :D :D :D I've managed to survive the day with 22k. Got up to 18k early (set of twos vs flopped str8- board paired the turn) and tried to "play a bit" like Ironside which resulted in "variance" - so I moved back into siege mentality eventuallly won a race and a couple of over the top allins built my stack up a bit. Tony Chessa still in with low 30k+, above average and could have finished off the day better. Anything can happen tomorrow.
