Greyhound Derby 2013 "Fantasy Kennel" Competition

The Greyhound Derby 2013 kicks off on Friday the 31st of May and runs throughout June, with the final on the 29th of June. I thought a competition to give everyone some interest throughout the month would be a good idea. Every round is available to view - with the first two rounds on RPGTV and the rest of the competition on Sky Sports.

The competition will involve players being randomly assigned a Kennel of 6-10 dogs dependent on popularity. With points scored based on their performance throughout.

There may just be no interest or I may have launched the thread too early or something but this would be excellent value for a month if we could get 10+ entries.

Happy to reduce to a 10er and allow more "kennels" if it'd help but preference is for £20.

Give everyone 6-8 dogs drawn randomly. Saves people needing to study/ research and is neutral ev for the nits

I'm afraid I know nothing about Dog racing and it would make me itch to have to pick without the requisite research, on which I would have to start from scratch

Completely random, like a lottery or sweepstake, removes that itch for me, personally and I'd feel more comfortable entering

I like being under it from the off, would have been comedy to win the first time courtesy of my trusty pin :D

On reflection, exactly what Dubai and TightEnd said.

I'd like to pretend if I don't win in a random draw that, had I been allowed to choose my own, my skill would have prevailed.

So how does this work?

I only found two runners tonight at Wimble.

My shortest price mule dog came 3rd, and another came 5th. I presume thats them out, only first 2 through? When are the rest of the heats?

Four qualified in some heats and at least three in the others.

Sorry, perhaps I should have given more of an indepth idea of the Derby and its rules to people just punting.

The first round is over two night, tonight and tomorrow. 13 races each night. 4 go though from most heats, with three going through from a handful. The second round is next weekend, where I think there is 16 heats of 6 dogs with three going through from each heat. The process is the same in R3, QF and SF.

So some of your dogs may have ran tonight, some tomorrow. If they finished in the top 4, there's a good chance they qualifyed. I will update everything after tomorrow's races.

I was mistaken, still a bit of life in this yet. ripple11 and Eso Kral heads up.

By my calculations, ripple11 needs his dog, Droopys Jet, to win on Saturday and for Eso Kral's dogs to comes 5th and 6th. The first part looks possible whilst the second part needs a bit of praying but not entirely unlikely.

As a side note, and rub, MajorMajor, who didn't pay after a couple of PM promises, would be on 129pts with both Ballymac Vic and Bittles Bar in the final. That would have made the final a lot more interesting.

Very much this, the amount of work Scott has invested in this for usd is incredible.

We are blessed to have folks like Scott & Mere to run these things for us. Then again, we have to suffer the likes of Chompy.

Sidaz Jack wins the 2013 Greyhound Derby and his 75pt haul in this competition propelled tikay into 2nd place but no one could compete with Eso Kral as his two dogs in the final did enough to cruise him to victory.

Prizes were initially announced as £300 and £60 but the non-payment from MajorMajor means that the prizepool was reduced by £20 and it felt appropriate to drop both prizes by £10. I will send £270 to Eso Kral, and Dubai will send the other £20. tikay, please send me your details when you get a chance.

Appreciate the thanks etc but no need as my personality leads me to enjoying running such competitions.

Think Eso Kral is out of the country but, just so he knows, I'm just trying to locate my RBS card reader which is essential for transferring money. I, unfortunately, had to move back to Dundee from London this weekend so there are a few boxes to go through - I'll have it by the end of the day.
