Title: Slowrolltastic
Post by: Mohican on May 25, 2013, 02:24:45 PM
Playing the 1/1 game at Aspers Stratford yesterday and it goes like this. I raise and call his 3bet. Flop comes A J 6. He C bets and we get it all in. I insta turn over my set of J's. He pulls a funny face, as though he's beat.Turn and river are blanks. He then decides to flip over his cards, AA obvs. Now i was pretty disgusted at this and told him so(didn't use any profane language though). Something along the lines of 'just flip 'em over straight away,no need to slow roll me there. That's pretty disgusting play'. Inside, I wanted to go round and free style on him, kicks, punches and spinning back fists but it's only a game of cards, so a few words seems more appropriate. Would anyone else have been annoyed at this or am i just being a bellend and should shut up and reload.

Just move on, Carl.

It does take a very odd sort of individual to do that, and get some sort of perverse pleasure from it, but there are a few.

i dont think its even a slow roll, unless he tanked for 2 minutes calling your all in

you could have hit quads, then he can muck :)

Unless you've got the other guy dead, I rarely see people flip their cards over in cash games.

Still means he's a dick for not informing you you're behind when you show your jacks at some point, but he is entitled not to declare his hand.

Pretty funny, I would've laughed about it in your position and said NH. Maybe you should move down stakes where you wont feel so emotional about hands?

Slowrolls are funny though.

I could've been for 1k or a fiver, I still would've felt the same about it.

Why did you turn your hand over?

Not showing your hand saves all those issues.  I would probably not show if I was the guy, if you land your case jack, I would rather the table did not know I was on monkey tilt at being 1 outed, I would only ever show if I had a nutted unbeatable hand, its free information you do not need to give away

You would have been more pissed if he showed 1A at the all in the flipped the other on at the end

On which occasions would you feel that that is the appropriate response?

Isn't there a chance he felt bad for having coolering you this hard, but also has a policy never to turn over his hand until the river?

Not to say that slowrolls don't annoy me. They really, really do. I can lose a huge pot to a terrible beat and not blink an eye but getting slowrolled in a £50 pot has me fuming.
