Why did we not get in on flop??

As played that is a bit of an overbet pot just under 6k? and he shoves 16k into it have to fold unless you have more history. only hands we beat is if he has busted fd and no showdown, unless he is capable of turning a better Ace into a bluff.

IF's and butt's but i fold here prob raise flop with a few to get in though

I think it's bad to get it in on the flop. We are too deep, getting in 70bbs on this flop, we will be up against a set or two pair, and be about 30%. Think calling the flop raise is the best play / standard.

Yeh the river is an overjam, 16k into 10 i think.

Yh going on all in the flop is not good, we isolate ourselves purely against the tip top of his range, we have the best draw, and not far off the best possible bluff-catcher.

As played our relative hand strength barely alters from turn to river giveen that Q4 is so unlikely, we do however now beat A4, but given the action its optimistic to think he plays A4 like this every time (although certainly possible on the .fr sites) I think he's extremely likely to be slowing down by the river with A4, so actually the fact we river 2p doesn't make a huge amount of difference when he's repping AQ+, and we CAN have AQ in our range for defo.

In terms of the theoretical we don't need to bluff-catch all that often vs such a large bet, we actually have the second nut bluff catcher (AQ being #1 by this point) I think we'll have AQ just infrequently enough to need to call off A7 here once in a while (would have to be  Ahrt  7h specifically) so in theory we should prolly call whenever we have  Ahrt 7h or any combo of AQ.

Having said this though in a vacuum without solid reads its a clear fold because people in MTT's are just SO SO SO value heavy when they do this. 44 seems likely to have been his holding, a well played hand imo Mr. Goulder

I call because I have 2 pair and also because his sizing pre-river doesn't look especially strong to me. IME, people generally try to set up a smaller river shove when they have sets+top 2, frenchies also like to protect vs the flush draw and click the 3/4 pot button a lot of the time as well. OTF his raise is <1/3rd pot and just one click more than a minraise. Then again if he'd actually minraised I'd be more worried too.

surely best to call with A4 rather than A7 in theory?

aside from now being able to beat A4 Im not sure what diff rivering 2p makes really?

Yeah I agree with dave here doesn't matter we hit a 7 on the river doesn't even matter much if we hit an Ace or also. Just feels more weighted to sets than other 2 pairs.

Pretty sure I'm never folding...

It's a massive overbet on the river and our range looks strong so villian is unlikely to overbet pot as a bluff or even for thin value with his 2 pairs.

But again we must remember this is just my opinion and a general population read.

I want to call just because the french absolutely lurrrrrve overbet bluffing. I spent a week picking them off in the Aviation a few years ago, very, very fun.

IME on these sites (which is pretty extensive), bets 3/4 pot or bigger are for value a overwhelming majority of the time.

I beat A4 as a hand he plays like this for value, which he may not. Lose to AQ and 44, which seem the most likely candidates.

Agree with Dave I'd MUCH rather have A4 in this spot than A7.

Why on earth would we rather have A4? With A7 we beat a plausible value hand - A4 - and with A4 we chop against that hand and block it.

because A4 blocks his most likely value hand - 44, meaning there's only 1 combo of 44.

Oh ok I missed that.

On the flop I'd rather have our hand than A4 though.

If we have A4 its less likely he has A4 or 44

we're assuming this guy is a french punter, which I think would be a mistake with the info we have.
