Title: Flopped trips
Post by: lucky_scrote on June 10, 2013, 10:58:10 AM
Don't have too many hands on this guy, he's playing a few pots so far though. More likely to be a fish.

Haha he is one of my cash game students, bonuses
Why he's laying MTTs lol!

You should probably never fold top pair v him.

I 3b pre!

Not folding this vs many villains at all, think I'm just calling vs the rest.

Shove turn as played, was curious why no 3b but actually quite like calling here vs 'percieved fish'

Shove turn doesn't get any value from any more hands than when we flat - if he has Ax he's not folding to a river bet where he'd call a turn jam - so a flat allows us to keep in his bluffs. He won't have a semibluffing hand often enough (and it won't get there often enough) for us to be concerned about letting him draw for free.

Far prefer to flat pre, would hate to 3b/f a hand this strong. Call turn.

Also, shame on you posting this hand just to show that MC's been getting jiggy with it pre antes! :p

We lose some value when we get 4b, for sure, but even if we do have to fold it's good to set up an aggro/unpredictable image, and we get a lot of value from having him fold on any street, having the initiative, and winning bigger pots when we hit (i.e. the normal reasons for 3betting). Flatting doesn't generally give us much benefit from having him pay us off with dominated hands - not like he's opening every Qx or folding lower suited connectors - and he's opening from the CO so he's gonna have a fair few trashy hands that he (should) fold right now.

Prefer the flat pre, then im definitely just calling this river, then more than likely just calling the river.
