Title: Question for iPhone peeps, ideally ones who have had both the 4S and 5 Post by: DaveShoelace on June 26, 2013, 10:39:18 AM My phone is on its way out. I'm not that arsed about an iPhone 5, but my missus did show me one feature I liked (she has one) which is the fact she can dictate text messages and the voice recognition software is really accurate.
I quite fancy that because it means I can do sum well gud writin n that when I'm on walking aboot. Anyhoo, my questions are: 1) Do they also have this feature on the iPhone 4S? 2) Is it any different in quality between 4S and 5 if so? I heard the early version of Siri wasn't so great. cheers Title: Re: Question for iPhone peeps, ideally ones who have had both the 4S and 5 Post by: DaveShoelace on June 26, 2013, 10:42:17 AM btw I don't mean Siri itself here, I mean the bit where there is a microphone button on the keyboard in the message/notepad sections

The 5 has a larger screen, better camera and faster processor otherwise I believe it to be pretty much the same. Just checked my 4S and the microphone button is there on the keyboard but I have never used it. Title: Re: Question for iPhone peeps, ideally ones who have had both the 4S and 5 Post by: DaveShoelace on June 27, 2013, 10:02:26 AM I caved and got an iPhone 5.
I actually really wanted a 4S for the same reason Flushy said, but the price difference for the tariffs was so small I had to go with the newer one, especially because this '4G' thing is happening soon. Why upgrade at all? it's not compulsory, and the new phone isn't free. you can keep your old phone and negotiate a 'sim only' contract which will cost you less than 50% of what you're paying now. Unless there is something I really want, I never upgrade my phone just because the contract term has expired. That's the point when I have the most negotiating power. I agree with this, my phone had been out of contract for three years and its about to die. Only reason I am getting the newest one is because I want to go a long ass time before getting the next one.
