Am I missing something or does having added online friends do nothing but let you know when they're online? Is there a way to message them or join them or anything??

I don't understand the question fully.  But if you're talking about friends on things like specialist forums i.e. Blonde, Photography, weight loss  etc etc, I would say there is a point because your mutual relationship would be to help and support each other in those specialist or niche fields.  so they become more professional acquaintances, not friends, but they are; just like you are; there to give and receive advice

If you're talking about things like Facebook, you usually add people on facebook and whatever else social networking site, to stay in touch and if there is an event in the real world you'd know about it..

Are you talking about the buddy list thing when you click on someone's profile?

If so, don't know never used it.

If you add buddies then I think it shows them in bold in the 'members online' list. But otherwise don't know what else it does.

Thought the whole point was they were the people that you particularly wanted to know when they were at the tables?  Possible uses could include for stakers watching horses, table selecting and as a long shot... railing friends.

I always used to use this feature so I could see when certain players I particularly wanted to play against were a. online and b. where they were playing...

I wondered why I've got so many online "friends". :)

Hi Guys

Yes the online friends feature is there so that you can see when other players are online and which games they are playing. You can also use it to rail players and follow players success etc if you're backing them.

You need to accept each other so that players can't use it for secret stalking :)
