Title: Satellite bubble spot
Post by: cambridgealex on August 06, 2013, 09:42:07 PM
50e rebuy. 4 left. 4th gets nada, 3rd gets 435euros, top 2 win 750euro seats into EPT satellite.

Jammer has just doubled me up, jammed next hand for ~5bbs, got it through, this is the very next hand. Calling range?

If he gets it through he goes to 9.6k and I go to 13.1k, the other two obv have us pretty well covered.

Assuming opp is shoving 70% of hands, and players behind aren't going to go nuts behind with overcalling:

(26.7%) 44+,A2s+,A3o+,K7s+,K9o+,Q9s+,QTo+

Worth pointing out that hands like Q9s net a 0.51 euro profit though.

So if we say we want to make at least 20 euro of equity on the call:

(13.0%) 77+,A7s+,A9o+,KTs+,KJo+

ADDITION, assuming OPP is only shoving 25% of hands (22+,A2s+,A4o+,K9s+,KTo+,Q9s+,QJo,J9s+,T9s) then:

(8.4%) 77+,AT+  becomes optimal

Insanely wide ranges!

It's the pure bubble of a satellite (well basically)!

Wait till you hear what I had!

If the guy with 7k isn't jamming joke wide every time its folded to him I'm happy making some tight folds here because when he folds incorrectly UTG we can open ridic wide and expect the two big stacks behind not to contest very often at all. If 7k guy is good ie he's shoving ridic wide then I like 77,ATish

Calling very tight in a satellite

Big stack behind us and villain goes through blinds before we do again. 3rd isn't insignificant and 4th is zilch,

QQ+ ?? Maybe AQs, AK

That is wayyyyyyyyy too tight. I mean we're not got loads more than the short stack. Big stacks aren't going to be wanting to call of light either given they will perceive themselves to have locked a seat/money. Only calling off this narrow mean shortie can just jam ridiculously wide until he's got us covered.

Personally something like A9o+ A7s+ KQo KJs+ JQs 66+?

Could certainly be convinced it might be as tight as AJo+ A9s+ KQ 88+ or something, but seems unlikely its much tighter than that.

The thing is, you are busting the guy that will put you ITM, and you are 3/4, so it's a decent spot for you.

You not being the one at risk must be a factor.

If WhiteShark had raised UTG to 14000, what range of hands would you call with?

In answer to your actual question, I'd probably say you should call TT+, KQ, KJ, QJ and AT+. I'm no satelliter satellitist satellitistor, tho.

Nobody has said it yet but it's important to know if the people here are any good. If the two big stacks are good, then you can make insanely tight folds here and keep jamming on the two big stacks for a while. If the jammer is any good then he also knows that he can jam very wide from the button because people need to call fairly tight.

If jammer is good then get it in lighter. If the big stacks are nitty/good and feel they have a seat locked then you can call it off tighter because of the many profitable spots you are going to be given later on. The seating is also excellent because the two big stacks are to your right so you can just pile a ton and not worried about getting too often.

I'm pretty terrible at sat's but i think AQ + TT +

Prettty sure this could be to tight though, as we can burst the bubble.

I tank called AJo and lost to AK, ended up bubbling in 4th.

Trying not to be results orientated but it felt like a big mistake afterwards.

But reading responses maybe I was right to call in the first place.

Cheers for input guys.
