Title: casino attire
Post by: jgcblack on August 18, 2013, 11:14:36 PM
Quick question...

I've definitely become relaxed with my local casino allowing shorts, flipflops, sports clothes etc...

But what do people is 'standard' or minimum for dress codes in casinos??

What would people wear themselves, and what would people want to wear??
Different if you're in the pit, poker room, club/bar area etc??

Thanks

In the UK I wear Jeans, with a shirt of some description, T-Shirt & some form of top if it's cold, and Polo/Dress if I'm going out from the casino. (trainers with T-Shirt and loafers with polo/dress shirt)

depends on the casino.

Bit different going to the Ritz or Palm Beach than going to Stanleys in Derby

Ask yourself "what would JGCB wear?"

Then wear something else.

Casinos usually more leniate with women than men.

Men shouldn't be allowed to wear flip flops, ripped jeans or any form of sporting tops, (football/rugby).

Women are usually allowed flip flops, not shorts and no ripped jeans or football wear.

I think in casinos you should dress smart/casual, as cos said above, depends were you were going. Personally I would wear jeans in the empire/hippodrome and trainers, but palm beach wouldn't dream of not dressing up, even slap a but of make up on lollooool 😉

No idea why Women get more leniency with the dress code. I would imagine it is because women often wear shoes/sandals that are open toe, so wearing flip flops are not that different? Who knows, but every time I've rang a London casino, they say the same thing to me.

Discrimination ? lol, IMO all men should feel discriminated if they are wanting to wear sandals out in public.

I quite often spend the whole day wearing toe-tector boots, getting a little musty, sweaty and at the end of the day I find it so much fun and a real pleasure to wear flip flops and let my feet breathe.

I can understand it being 'unusual' to wear flip flops in a lot of adult situations... but completely out of line? Embarrassing? Rude? Offensive? Or unsuitable?
I would question those....

Considering all the casinos I've ever been to have been 90%+ inside, I would lean toward trousers/ jeans a lot more than say shorts.  However football shirts are probably a little too relaxed, as are other shiny sports tops.  But I would say that sports polo shirts or rugby tops etc.. are normally smart casual enough to be fine.

...... hmmmm....

Don't think anyone would notice the flip-flops to be honest :D

Anyone try and tell me this shirt isn't amazing? Its cultural and fun.....

I had the issue of flip flops in Denmark and a girl next to me in the queue with almost exactly the same havijanas on.

She's allowed in, I'm not.
