Title: US open tennis Post by: Ironside on August 26, 2013, 05:44:20 PM ok i dont get this
robson is seeded in the womans draw 128 players in the draw 32 seeds so how can she be facing a seed in the 2nd round which is the round of 64 makes a mockery of the seeding imho evens 2 sets up against the 11th seed would be good too get another bloke into round 2 Title: US Open Tennis Post by: kinboshi on August 26, 2013, 06:11:17 PM Laura Robson has won her first round match, and Dan Evans (Britain's number 3) who qualified to play in the event has three match points against 11th seed Nishikori, which would be his biggest win ever.
He's done it! 6-6 6-4 6-2. Will Murray be able to defend his title, and who are people's picks this year? Title: Re: US Open Tennis Post by: TightEnd on August 26, 2013, 06:13:50 PM With Murray and Djok in the same half its not surprising to see Nadal backed into favourite. Been in superb hard court form since his return from injury, last loss was at Wimbledon and he's up to World Number 2 again. Difficult to see beyond him in the final with his draw
One last Nadal-Fed great match in the quarters would be good Title: Re: US open tennis Post by: Ironside on August 26, 2013, 06:17:32 PM ok i merged the topic danny i hope you dont mind
there is something up with the draw as dan evans could be playing the 19th seed in the next game after beating the 11th seed in the round of 128 are the top 32 not meant too be kept apart till the 3rd round? Title: Re: US open tennis Post by: kinboshi on August 26, 2013, 07:12:04 PM Sorry didn't see your thread when I posted.
Not sure how the seeding works. However, it's not random by all accounts... http://www.significancemagazine.org/details/webexclusive/1327211/Advantage-top-seeds---the-US-Open-random-draw.html Title: Re: US open tennis Post by: Tal on August 26, 2013, 11:24:56 PM The last fifteen grand slam semis have featured either Nadal or Murray, but never both.

Title: Re: US open tennis Post by: kinboshi on August 31, 2013, 05:58:27 PM Ivanovic looking to be heading for the exit after being second-best throughout the match against American McHale.
6-4 and 5-4 up, McHale chokes and loses her service game for Ivanovic to break back and make it 5-5. Ivanovic then nearly fluffs her service game, but comes back from 15-40 down to win the game and make it 6-5. Certainly not the player she was, but she might just hang in there... Title: Re: US open tennis Post by: kinboshi on August 31, 2013, 06:05:30 PM She breaks, and it's one set all.

I might have to sport the old Cuban heels but I reckon it'd be worth it. Title: Re: US open tennis Post by: kinboshi on September 01, 2013, 08:32:47 PM Murray at his imperious best. Some of his shots are breath-taking. Mayer isn't playing badly at all, but Murray is simply too good for him.
