Title: App updates Post by: RED-DOG on September 02, 2013, 08:22:31 AM I am constantly invited to update various apps on my phone. The benefits are usually advertised as bug fixes / improvements to the way the app works.
Most on the time, I haven't noticed any bugs and I'm happy with the way the app works, In fact I often prefer the old version to the new version, or the new version requires permissions that I'm not prepared to give. I often wait a short while before updating, as sometimes the developer will release the new app without the checks they should have done and there'll be bugs, etc. I wish there was an easy way to roll-back to a previous version (without doing a phone backup and restore that seems a bit excessive for a single app upgrade). With some apps though, it does make sense to update. Sometimes they will have removed a security flaw, or an issue that could potentially cause the app or even your phone to crash/hang/go slow. That works with some apps (maps being one where it's included with the OS along with some other google apps), but not on most of them. |
