Title: small pairs with about 20 Bigs?
Post by: Amatay on September 05, 2013, 05:28:46 PM
22-66

Say you have an awkward ish stack. 18-20 ish bigs.

How do u play these hands in ep/mp.

Just saw someone EPT Barca limp jam 21 bigs utg with 44. The isolater tanked forever and called with a9 and 44 held.
It got me thinking. Sometimes i just fold, sometimes i end up opening and c-bet fold and do chips when i didnt start with many.

What do you do? I know it sometimes depends on stage of tourn and table?

Is limp jam a gd play?

Guessing it was from this?

Edit: Be helpful too, just folding from EP

Usually folding pre, and jamming btn or cutoff

Jamming unopened HJ/CO/BTN folding otherwise barring sick reads

depends if you want to flip a ton of the time, just presuming 1/7 opens is a pair and the rest you are flipping with plus the FE of limp jamming to collect a few chips its not really that bad.

EP folding.  MP might be doing something depending on players behind.  LP defo doing something depending on players behind.

Oh, and this:

dont think id ever jam hj with 20bbs with any hand.

Fwiw I think she limped the button off circa 22bb into an aggro Romanian big stack in the sb, which I feel is a really nice play as he can't jam with a 30bb big blind sat behind him, but he will raise extremely wide, which means the jam gets through so often. A very popular move nowadays, and as pleno says extremely spewy to open jam it. As it played out he probs would have snapped a jam off with his A9o, but its clear that his decision to call it off was agonising. You can make this play profitably a lot wider than small pairs too.

From ep its an easy open fold
