Title: Music is everything Post by: craigbetts on September 06, 2013, 05:57:22 PM I am not sure if this will become a diary, although for some inspiration I will start it and leave it in the home of diaries and blogs.
The main content of this diary/thread will be music, this will be across a wide variety of genres with all selections having some addition to my life. In time I may develop why this is, however for now I am going to wet the appetite of the poker players who may have stumbled into this thread. I will estimate that poker talk will take less than 5% of any wordage in this diary, as I very rarely play. However, the majority of poker players, of whatever ability, dream of winning the main event. To that end, surely this opening selection wraps those dreams up. YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wutzv7JjX7k Subjects that will get a look in will include, Tunage, Non League Football, Sports betting and health and fitness. My plan is to add a tune every day or so and maybe a story not quite as frequent. Hopefully I will hit the right note. Peace CB. Being a drum and bass boy when the UK Garage, four to the floor or whatever it was tagged blew up, I viewed it as inferior to the music I was into. However, I appreciate good music and MJ Cole, Sincere and Crazy Love were both belters. I always had a soft spot for Flowers by Sweet Female Attitude. No real favourite Dave, although I remember the good days of 411 with Jamieson - true blasting from the top floor! Out of our trips to Amsterdam, Tallinn and Vegas which was your fav? Amsterdam for the numbers who made the trip, Talinn for the easy on the eye opposite sex and Vegas for the gambool. Do you wish you had been more degen when you won the microgaming jackpot? Nope, i am a NIT! Fav place for a night out in the UK? I am getting too old now for nights out in the UK, I would say with the right crowd anywhere is a good night. My favourite venues/nights from the past were Friday nights at Fabric Live, Fabio's Swerve night at the Velvet rooms and NY Sushi in Sheffield. What's it like growing up as a ginger? My mum said I was auburn and mothers know best! At school I had a few nicknames, some of these were funny and 'Gingers' are still fair game as far as the Equality and Diversity act goes. Title: Re: Music is everything Post by: Nakor on September 07, 2013, 08:31:45 PM You have a fine eye for a night out.
3 top nights. Look forward to your further tunes. Title: Re: Music is everything Post by: craigbetts on September 07, 2013, 10:13:22 PM I have always loved football, whether that be playing or watching the beautiful game. Since I packed in playing two years ago, I have continued to watch friends play on a Saturday. I hardly seem to find time or the motivation to watch the team I supposedly support (Doncaster Rovers) and find myself watching numerous games of non league football many tiers down the football league system. During this time I have found myself a frequent spectator on the terraces of Eslaforde Park, home to Sleaford Town and currently playing in the 9th tier of the football league. When I packed in the game I was captaining and playing for the reserve team.
Today was non league day in the football diary and Town welcomed local rivals Holbeach United. I had actually been looking forward to this game all week. The game was fuelled by extra needle as the Holbeach manager and five players were all plying their trade at Sleaford last season. Twitter was busy in the morning and the referee was always going to busy. The game itself was hardly a spectacle and Sleaford claimed a deserved 2 v 0 victory, the visitors were reduced to 10 men late on when the referee predictable gave an ex Town player his second yellow card for retaliation. For now local bragging rights have been settled, thoughts now turn to the FA Cup next week. Today's tune is a Shay, taken from an era when we were contenders! To pass the odd minute in work, I often ask work colleagues what their favourite three tunes of all time are. Well, for me, you just can not answer that question definitively. Music is the moment, the emotion, the memory, the feeling and the occasion. I could select three tunes now and in 10 minutes select a different three tunes and so on. In fact I would suspect only one or two would remain if I expanded three to ten. Todays selection would almost certainly be in or around my favourite ten tunes of all time. For me it’s a modern day masterpiece from an era when artists and bands put Bristol on the musical map. Title: Re: Music is everything Post by: Marky147 on September 30, 2013, 05:23:08 PM Choudhury or Sizzling Wok? I know it's a tough one, but 3 weeks and still no decision! ;) Title: Re: Music is everything Post by: craigbetts on September 30, 2013, 06:22:04 PM Choudhury or Sizzling Wok? I know it's a tough one, but 3 weeks and still no decision! ;) Sorry Marky, your msg must have got missed amongst the endless msg's and pages of this farce! In answer, I have never visited the Choudhury, but I always hear good things about the place. Been to the sizzling wok a few times, first one being 11 years ago or so and the novelty of the first visit was okay but after that its a little bit meh. In truth this place isn't the same since the hedonistic days of yesteryear. In a strange throw back, I returned this morning to find no hot water in the block and a notice to use the ablutions in block 411. So off i trot post gym session and pick my old corridor and what do you know.... No hot water there either!! Really glad you have stopped by, seeing as you know everything about sin city, do you fancy looking at deals for early November? Plan is for two weeks early in the Venetian DS Extravaganza IV. Probably one other in for the trip! (Not the milli man....sigh). Today's tune is dedicated to the big man who showed us a master class in H/U play after being advised by his team to small ball!!!!! In all seriousness, I was delighted for him and hopefully he may listen to my advice for once! In fairness, it isn't great, however, you can't go wrong at a tenner for 3 courses. Sizzling Wok was always good when you wanted to clog all the arteries, all you can eat £8.95 I think it was. You can't go wrong with middle school seats and tables either :) Haha, is 411 still standing? I remember when we arrived in 2002, there wasn't enough room in the block, so we all got put into married quarters down at the bottom of camp. Great fun until another lad from my course and I got in the shit, and they moved us into the block :D I'll never forget the smell of that onion factory whenever we used to go running in the woods, always used to wake you up on the way down the road. Think all the lads I joined up with are Chiefs, and I imagine some are on the way to WO2 now as well! I started looking for Lee over the weekend, but got sidetracked and never finished, so will kill 2 birds with one stone shortly. Do you want shared accomodation, or a room each? Surprised Millidonk hasn't tried to wangle a week with you off the back of his great performance!
